@falarious123 That argument is such bullshit. Exhorder at their core were always thrash. Just because they slowed things down once in a while doesn't mean that Pantera ripped them off. Cowboys From Hell is more influenced by traditional heavy metal like Judas Priest and their previous glam style than it is by Exhorder.
@spackstic cowboys from hell was barely even groove metal, im talking about vulgar display of power and afterwards. I love pantera, but it annoys me that they claim to have invented groove metal, when they clearly didn't. Pantera at their core is just thrash too.
@falarious123 The Law is supposed to sound the most like Pantera but Vulgar Display came out at the same time if not before. Besides, to call Pantera "groove metal" at any stage of their career would be inaccurate. They had a ton of different influences in their music from southern rock to hardcore punk.
@spackstic phil was heavily influenced by exhorder and gammacide. and the glam pantera sounded more like early def leppard. they did start the groove metal movement with cowboys from hell though.
OMG! Back in '92 when i first heard that they had a glam era, i wanted to hear it. i managed to get hold of a copy of power metal, which in my opinion, is so not glam. but i have never managed to hear anythin off the first 3 albums till now. way cool. anyone know where or how i can get these albums, cheers guys
there's nothing wrong with the old school rap scene like Public Enemy, ice-T and some others....it's the actual mainstream fuckin gangsta-goldchained-bitches that makes me sick...
@DimeRR5150 >implying that Beastie Boys, Wu Tang Clan, Nas, a Tribe Called Quest, and De La Soul are terrible because they rap
>implying that all metal is untouchable
>obviously isn't aware of "Vulgar Display"
oh okay then
I'll let you be all pro-metal and all
I'll be pro-music because guess what? Rap ain't crap. Top 40 rap is crap, not Nas or A Tribe. But I don't stick to it because I know Pantera makes some great music.
@Malkmusianful top 40 alt rock shit sucks too man. I feel this year though we will probably have a "cleansing" in music where we get rid of all the "pop" stuff and go to more relatable music. hopefully anyways
"Yesterday Dont Mean Shit" because now "Im Broken" of this "Fucking Hostile" now i "Walk" to the "Cemetery Gates" im "Becoming" one of the "Cowboys From Hell" then "I'll Cast A Shadow" with this "Goddamn Electric" magic but the thought of this all is that "Heavy Metal Rules"
you people need to realize that without the early years of pantera, theyre would have been none of the heavier stuff.. dime showed us that heavy metal rules
the lyrics in this song kick ass. all about the early metal scene. what i would give to have been born around 1965 to see all the great metal bands in their prime!!!
It's tight, but damn, all those cheesy 80's rock bands sound the same. This sounds like the Scorpions. I'm glad Pantera switched their sound. This sound would've gotten lost in 80's generica.
@thefriendsociety fuck you bitch. why would you rip on dime like that? he is one of the greatest guitarist ever. and the best pantera is everything from vulgar display of power to reinvinting the steel
@patman1322 settle down there you act your his son or something. plus all those albums basically suck. thats when they became white trash and started ripping off exhorder
@thefriendsociety white trash? i disagree. but i do agree that the 80's pantera is good. but for me you just cant beat the heavy riffs they wrote in the 90's
@patman1322 Dude dimebag is overrated. I'll admit he is an amazing guitarist. His a master of his craft. I love Dimebag, but i'm not going to say he's the greatest guitarist of all time because there is no such thing. I love the first four albums. I'll even say they are better than the shit they've made in the 90's. Cowboys from Hell, Floods, This Love, Domination, Psycho Holiday were the best jams of the 90's for pantera.
Thanks for the memories! We used to load up the car and go "The Ranch" every time they were in Muenster Tx. or somewhere within driving distance. We usually got thrown out every time but what a ride!
This is the Pantera that I remember and actually enjoyed!!! I remember seeing them in concert at a local club...I think it was Matley's somewhere in Dallas. This was back in 85' or so...I later got to see them in 87' as I was going through Army Training in Ft. Sill, OK...man I miss those days!!!
for some reason i like this heavy/glam metal better before pantera got all thrashy that shits awsome but i like this better srry fans just one opinion XD
@CaborgTheShadeboy Unfortunately Pantera's first 2 80s albums only have a few songs with publicly-printed lyrics, but I could TRY translating them...XD And as cheesy as these lyrics are, the guitar is absolutely badass. =D Panturruh is good sheet.
@nodnarbdoowron Not all rap is crap moron... maybe modern rap but old school rap is classic. And both genres are better than Lady Gaga, Kanye West, and all that shit.
