@vleon1012 My first thought was that he's playing a MIDI guitar, but come to think of it I don't think MIDI was around in '81 so he may very well be pretending. But still, synths are "real intruments" too in my opinion.
@iWearLacoste From what I've seen, futurist, synthpop, and other electronic bands always had this problem: it's much harder to do something visual with electronic instruments, compared to acoustic and electric ones. Audiences really do expect a typical setup with guitars, a drum set, etc. Some fell back on performance art (Frank Tovey/Fad Gadget, DEVO) and others tried to make the instruments more visual (Depeche Mode, Erasure, et al).
@FlashVideosDigital dude... check previous comments!! it's been said ten times allready!! this is when copy/past comes in handy.... Jo Lemaire & Flouze - Je Suis Venu Te Dire Que Je M'en Vais
it's a cover of Serge Gainsbourg's Je suis venu te dire que je m'en vais... meaning I've come to tell you I'm leaving in English. Serge's version is more acoustic - if you like the French band Air, you'll hear the influence.
Amazing! It has a sound reminiscent of the title-themes of some of the Japanime that's been showing late-night on Cartoon Network for the past few years. And this was done in the early-'80s!? Wow!
wow!

@vleon1012 The beginnings of electronic music were without computers. So the original method is the use of electronic hardware (intruments)
