I don't understand poetry in general. I remember english teachers trying to be all in depth about it & trying to make us feel the poem lol, saying things like "What (author name here) is trying to tell us in this line is.....they use a boat as a metaphor for happiness, because......the mood of the poem changes drastically when..." and other stuff like that that made no sense & left me thinking how and what are they analyzing and why do I care?
Yes her poems are difficult to understand but it has so much meaning behind them!
I Felt a Funeral, In My Brain; is one of her darker yet stronger poems, I believe it is simply beautiful.
Anyway college students are not the only people who study her poems, I am a Junior in highschool and I studied her and I am doing a poem analysis for one of her poems in my Honors American Lit. class.

I'm sorry, but I will have to disagree with you, and the others who think her poems were point less. If they were such, then she would not be famous, she did what she loved, she expressed herself through writings, and many song writers use her words/poems in songs. Trying to read poems while making a video will never help you understand the true meaning of Emily's words, she has inspired MANY people, and if you can not see that, then you are blind to the creative eye of literature. It is a gift.

I don't understand poetry in general. I remember english teachers trying to be all in depth about it & trying to make us feel the poem lol, saying things like "What (author name here) is trying to tell us in this line is.....they use a boat as a metaphor for happiness, because......the mood of the poem changes drastically when..." and other stuff like that that made no sense & left me thinking how and what are they analyzing and why do I care?

Yes her poems are difficult to understand but it has so much meaning behind them!
I Felt a Funeral, In My Brain; is one of her darker yet stronger poems, I believe it is simply beautiful.
Anyway college students are not the only people who study her poems, I am a Junior in highschool and I studied her and I am doing a poem analysis for one of her poems in my Honors American Lit. class.
So to anyone who says Emily Dickinson sucks well then you suck 2!

I'm doing a research paper by CHOICE on Emily Dickinson, and every time I open a book about her, I read more and become more inspired.
