@weightfeather1 Um, nope. Herbie Hancock did the original version on his first solo album, Mongo did this version a bit later. The version that you're thinking of is the one that Herbie did on "Headhunters" in the mid-70s.

This LP was/is one of the all time greatest early 60's jazz LP's. It's a crime how under

appreciated, unheralded it is. It's one of the best LP's jazz,pop and world music, ledgen M. Santamaria, ever made. This song by jazz giant H. Hancock is a jazz standard, Hubert Laws flute on Maha De Carnaval is exquisite! Thxs for posting.
