  • i have heard this song growing up..never liked it untill now..love it!

  • Great music. I am almost 65 years old, and I have been to three Moody Blues concerts .. all at the Peoria Il civic center areana, One with the Peoria Symphony was probably the best rock concert I ever witnessed. That and a Somon and Garfunkel concert at the Saint Louis Kiel center areana in 2004

  • brings me right back, still sounds as good - thank God for older Sisters with wage packets

  • This reminds me of Gorillaz- Broken

  • What bugs me is that in the happier half of Evening Time to Get Away, the CD version removes a three part harmony that the LP had. It's still great, but the harmony sounds that much better.

  • I am always amazed when I hear this Musical Masterpiece. Did I ever Thank you 74sodapop?? Well, I do Thank you.

  • @badoocee Yeah, thanx to you and the mmody blues. I also notice you have a great list of videos scattered throughout youtube. I think i am gonna subscribe. I like your sense of illusion.

  • When I first heard this song in high school I was overwealmed. Here was I song I could identify with. It seemed to express many feelings and emotions I was having. It is one of those songs that leads you on a quest. Thank you Moody Blues.

  • blows my mind

  • WTF! 30 people don't like this song?! This is a musical masterpiece! I never get tired of hearing music like this.

  • 30 ppl are assholes

  • HOW can anybody NOT like this classic of rock?

  • The simplicity of a Tuesday afternoon synchronized to the lilting sounds that simply say "Hey, it's a weekday and not anything special but then again because it isn't special it is special. It's Tuesday afternoon!"

  • incredible quality.. thanks..

  • Great song wonderful video done so well. I am of that generation this song is so perfect. I listen to it every Tuesday. Oh and I borrowed your video ;) this way people can click and come right to your channel. I love this. :)

  • yessss....so long ago and yet so fresh and new...thanks to u

  • Some people never get the message. Stop and smell the roses before the worms are eating you.

  • I love all this stuff. Were Moody Blues very big in the 1960's? Don't seem to hear much of them on Radio2 apart from last week when they played one of their songs. Don't know which one though.

  • @johnnycheck99 They were not real popular til 1972. Days of Future past came out in 67 and they started with the British Invasion 63/64 with "Go Now" Nights & Tuesday were not played much til 1972 when they were ready to break up.

  • @HonRevJoWazzoo I bought the album in reel tooreel at the p.x. in Vietnam in 1970 and it seemed to be already big by then. I still hae the reel to reel album in my home library. Don't know if the player still works though, haven't tried it for about 20 years. With You tube who needs it anyway.

  • @johnnycheck99 ..Moody Blues songs..are the songs..that you say to yourself..."oh man I love this song"...but dont really know who`s singing it...They are a fantastic band..."Knights in White Satin".thats the big one...

  • 6:54 is so nice!

  • So excited that they will be in Atlanta March 24 at the Fox Theater. We've already purchased our tickets -- yipee! Can't wait to hear them again after all these years.

  • @tyme4mike & BasementBeginnings. You are clearly the same person with some weird personality disorder. Stop embarrassing yourself.

  • @tormod1 Thankfully I'm not really like this in real life, I was simply playing his own game. :P

And embarassing myself? How so? I want facts before claims.

  • One of our favorite bands . The songs brought us home .

Hotel Company, Second Battalion , Seventh Marine Regiment .

  • 5:07 the guitar riffs, remind me very much of the riffs in "Is there anybody out there?" By Pink Floyd. Perhaps Waters sampled those?

  • my birthday this year was tuesday, and i thought of this song:)

  • I remember KLSX!!!! AND KMET!!! thanks for the "memory jog"!

  • mmmmmmmmmmm did we have fun or what??

  • Enjoy the music and yes we all will go to see the Great White Father............

  • This song made me take off suddenly and join the Hare Krishnas! I swear I'm telling the truth (and I'm still a Krishna after over 30 years).

"Just come with me and see the beauty of Tuesday afternoon."

  • WHO could NOT like this song??????

  • @Krisbcream1 u suck :3

  • For those of you who haven't listened to much of the Moodies collection, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Listen to them, specially their first 7 or 8 albums. Pure genius.

  • yummie

  • i cant belave that 28 people disliked this awesome song! they dont know what music is

  • One of my favorite MB songs--simple and pure. The mellotron is pretty basic compared with Mike's later work, but again--beauty in simplicity. Great lyrics too

  • 4:25-4:50 sounds like Back to the Future music

  • im the 599,999 th viewer XD

  • I strongly belive that Moody Blues were ahead of their time

  • @thundermaster41 you could bring them onstage later in the show but we would be on to the next show. you too.

  • This video reminds me of walking the hills in Yorkshire.

  • peace

  • Wow! This sounds just like Nights in Black Satin

  • @ypoons89 White Satin

  • Ahhh! This was one of my "moving day" cd's. Lovely! Imagine going through boxes and boxes of stuff you forgot you had whilst listening to this. ♥♥ Memories huh? Some of the more beautiful memories bringing me to tears. Beautiful!

  • one of the best groups from the 70s, listen to rubbish that so many people think is music today rap crap, little boy bands, best music- 70s, r.i.red rooster

  • Don't get me wrong I love the Moody blues, although the end reminds me of Tiny Tim singing falsetto...lol(tms).

  • I listen to this on a cool sunny october day when it rains red, gold and yellow from the trees. walking along the never ending fields surrounded by barbwire and filled with cows. I make my way to the old dirt road and walk to the lake surround by walls of sand. I sit on the highest one and let the waves and music lull me away and the sun fade in and out of life while the wind blows back my hair and the sweet, fall scented air fill my nose.

  • @ImCarrotsforBananas, beautifully written. Keep it up.

  • I've seen the Moody Blues twice, approx 20 yrs apart. Excellent show both times. Rock on!

  • Such wonderful excursions I had with the Moody Blues. Soaring with the warmth of love. Very nice post. thanks

  • This song reminds me of the first day of freshmen football practice. It was indeed a tuesday and this song was plying on the locker room as I walked in for the first time.

  • just relax, with a beer, & listen, if there is a God, this is what he listens to.---- & this is b4 my time PPL, just know what good is.

  • Who could dislike this? Peace 2 All!

  • Play nice children, and remember only God is to judge. Everyone has a right to their opinion as long as they are speaking for themselves verses speaking for the general populaton, because we are all different, and that is ok. No two leaves nor two bees are alike, they only share common factors. Same with people, what may be true for someone may not be true for someone else. As long as they do not hurt anyone, especially a child, or mother earth who r we 2 judge. Again that is just my opinion.

  • awesome song from the best music era ever love it

  • Drugs are for those who want to take drugs. Simple as that. Drugs and reality absolutely can co exist. To be honest drugs like LSD and mushrooms can catapult you so far into reality it can be frightening. You can't escape your problems smoking weed or tripping on hallucinogens. if anything they make you focus more on how to improve yourself.

This whole "drugs are for weak people" is bullshit that intolerant people spew to make themselves feel better.

  • @Fryek89 I'm glad somebody understands :)

  • it makes me not want to be here.

  • this is a beautiful song about death i love it not death the song :)

  • people always look for some deep meaning to a song...most can find it...i look at it for what it is...just a great song!!!

  • drugs made teh music of the sixties

  • The Moody's deserve to be the Rock Hall of fame, What a disaster that they were left out. To me they are one of the best damn groups of all time.

  • @cherylmarie49 and this might just be me but it's a shame that Kiss got in before them and Rush...makes me sad b/c i love both groups infinitely more.. hehe

  • this is one of my favorite songs of alltime!! been listening to this since 1977 at least.

  • Drugs are bad, mkay... Unless it's cannabis... in moderation of course... and occasional mushrooms... :o)

  • Lary731000 that is great you have been a recovering addict for for 25 years. Life is Bliss :)

  • where are they and why did they leave us ?

  • this never fails to get me regrouped & motivated!

  • I believe in the concept that whatever one does, drugs or not, is ultimately one's own personal choice. And if whatever that is, help's you to find a higher awareness of self and reality, so be it! We cannot judge other's for what they do and experience. We are here to "share" our experiences no-matter how we come to our own personal conclusions.

  • In the '60s and '70s, when we teens were searching for The Meaning of Life in the mystical lyrics of songs, the Moody Blues captured me and swept me away. I marveled at their mixture of symphony and rock, and found teenaged "Truth" in their lyrics. Today they bring back vivid memories of teenaged high school love, sportscars and motorcycles. They help me relive my "soft" years, before Nam and the world tried to break my stones. Equally proud of their later hits. The Blues are PROPHETS! Wndrful!

  • i tune into my local classical rock station every tuesday afternoon just to hear this song.

  • Will music ever be this good again? I'm afraid not.

  • This song reminds me of Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd. The Moody Blues and Pink Floyd were very similar. I remember Roger Waters said in an interview that the Moody Blues were a huge influence for the band in their early days of Pink Floyd.

  • I also remember our radio stations in St. Louis playing this extended version, and I miss it a lot! Glad you posted this, brings back good memories, which always happen when I listen to the Moodies!

  • Prophets from the day:)

  • one of the best songs ever!

  • today,s music is shit

  • Loved this song as a teenager...now 52. Got to go and see the Moody Blues in Auckland.Good memories!

  • FUCK this is good.

  • WNEW-FM NYC!

  • Days Of Future Past..What a concept, make's me feel that time is a series of the now stung together.

  • A: Ik mis je. G.

  • Orchestral rock.......superb.

  • My father was buried on a Tuesday afternoon in 1973 this song always reminds me of that day, a beautiful song but brings back alot of pain I knew I had nobody and only 15 years old I am now 54 I often wonder what it would be like If my parents didnt die so long ago. Life is a mystery.

  • @Krylogenic I'm very sorry for your loss even after all these years. I hope you have prospered in spite of your heartbreak.

  • This is not the extended version, After "Tuesday Afternoon" the next song is "(Evening) Time to Get Away" Which connects it to Nights in White Satin.

  • Bobby ...

  • 24 people have never had a great Tuesday afternoon.

  • This song will always remind me of an old flame, Carol Attwood RIP

  • 4:30 onwards reminds me of Ocarina of Time

  • One of my favorite songs of the 1970's...........just puts me in one of those "la-la" moods!

    Dr.D.

  • I use to listen to this song while watching Little Bear. I would turn the volume down on the tv and let the music go with the show. Went perfectly! Great song :)

  • This is the only good thing to ever come from a Tuesday <3

  • @DaniBell101 There's also "Ruby Tuesday," either by the Stones or Melanie.

  • @DaniBell101 Except maybe Tuesday's Gone...

  • @Imallears1958 Yeah, that IS pretty amazing.

  • The best track on the album. A CLASSIC.

  • it ticks me off b/c even these so called classic rock stations don't even play this.....................yes that means you gulf 104.1 tallahassee fl.

  • 9/11 happened on a Tuesday.

  • @glimmer2158 and has nothing to do with this song

  • I've been through the "SexDrugsRocknRoll" Part.

I've been through the "NothingElseMatters" Part.

    The "Labour/Achievement" Part, too.

After 48 Years, all I can say is:

It's simply amazing Music, and I like it!

    NDL

  • No one knows the secrets of an odd week day. A tuesday afternoon. Its mysteries are ineffable on a sunday or a monday. Reaching out and waiting until we are there. When the sun sets its colors blue yellow and crimson red its memories live in our souls forever. Our Tuesday afternoon.

  • I remember when I was 18, 46 now, I woke up and there was snow everywhere. had to get to work but buses were not running. had to walk to subway station in deep snow for most of the trip and it was literally 4 miles away. I popped in this casette into my Walkman and made the trek in the snow. Absolutely wonderful!

  • @margatelad Not half as sad as you for attacking someone. But, I will report you. Thanks and goodbye!

  • @PlanTonto These songs are some of my BEST memories. They take you places! Loved your story!

  • @PlanTonto These songs are some of my BEST memories. They take you places! Loved your story!

  • @tmyockim Thank you!!!

  • I've owned 2 copies of this album in many formats since 1967...and will continue to do so, until I'm gone.

  • Me Likey Alot!

  • I miss Jim Ladd and KLSX which really supported this and other amazing songs on their station by promoting and playing them! :)

  • I will see them again tonightat Rivinia in Chicago,Il have seen them over thirty times in my life time.I just like their music thats all....

  • Remember when our parents didn't understand or like this music

I wonder what they would think of the music the kids of today listen too???

Thanks for posting it brings back many fond memories I lived in SF in the

    sixties.

  • I was a few years too young to remember music back in 1967 but I do remember 1972 quite well. Now I know why I remember this being popular in '72 even though it was recorded in '67.

  • Brilliant band. Almost every album is a masterpiece.

I agree with "Byung7". Whay aren't The Moody Blues in the Hall of Fame?

  • AND THEY ARE NOT IN THE HALL OF FAME WTF

  • So, I confess I haven't heard that many songs form this band, but thanks to me listening to the classic rock station most of the time, I discovered this song and gosh, I love it! A masterpiece.

  • @fifiesponja07 You must listen to "Days of Future Passed, Question of Balance, In Search of the Lost Chord and Long Distance Voyager". The list is much longer, but which ever album you listen to is phenomenal.

Most are concept albums and should be heard at least once through "start to finish" to truly appreciate.

  • No - the album did very well when it was released, and "Nights" was a big hit single. What DID happen - just like David Bowie's "Space Oddity" single - was that the re-issue of the album in the wake of the Moodies' popularity with "Tuesday" as a single made this album re-enter the charts. It was a bigger hit in '72 due to market expansion.

  • I wish i were alive in these days... thanx to my dad, i know who the moodys are and for that, I am thankful!!!

  • What a fucking masterpiece!! Just like Tull's "Thick as a Brick" . Two songs that are brilliant in every way - words & lyrics!!

  • Being a Junior in High School in Ohio was so super in 1967. Songs like this one played on an AM radio with one speaker in the middle of the dash, and the sounds that emerged, permeated our souls, to give us blind direction subconsciously.

Moody Blues couldn't rely on electronic enhancement, but depended on their music to pass the word. "OUR FUTURE IS now", turned 60 yrs.old Friday, learned a lot about myself and how to act, thanks to songs like this one. Thanks for the post

  • Reminds Me of when in the summer all i did was play halo 3. Miss The Old days i wish i could go back in time for a year just for the fun

  • @markus7k that's depressing, everyone else is talking about how it makes them remember the TRUE good old days back in the day and how this song was a part of their experiences, then you come and talk about how it reminds you of sitting around playing xbox just a year ago.....hahahh

  • @straightnukka Yea Lol Halo 3 was the shit for me in the summer xD Nah i had times that were not all gaming related, went to the beach etc., i Really Love this song though

  • ps: If any know if with lyrics vid of this, please send. Thank you.

  • @deedee2244 if you go to Metro Lyrics...they have them there...along with just about any lyrics you need to find.

  • This song aches my spirit, I can not explains. Pradon English.

  • In 1967, Decca Records in England realised they were losing out to EMI and CBS; hardly surprising given that it was Decca who had turned down The Beatles, telling them the Big Band Sound was going to make a return. ( They did have the Stones of course)

So, they created a brand new label - Deram - and used it to launch their new sound. This LP was originally budget priced, and released in stereo, then still an option on most LPs. Later Moody's LPs all featured gatefold sleeves.

  • AND THEY ARE NOT IN THE HALL OF FAME WTF CLEVELAND

  • Thank you for including the entire track 5 -- “Forever Afternoon (Tuesday?) / Time To Get Away” -- from the album. I like the graphics you put together for the video. Wonderful, wonderful.

Anyone who has not sat and listened to this album in its entirety is missing something very special. If you don't own the CD (or MP3 album) of "Days of Future Passed," do yourself a favor: buy it.

  • @LordOfLonsdale I own the Album and wouldn’t trade it for the world!

  • @bcrawfordj9 Thank you. I'm with you!

  • A true classic...and this was a ROCK band!!! Today's stuff is shite, no depth!!!

  • @truthaintpretty

You are so right; most of today's music is shit.

Music back then was creative, inspirational and meaningful.

Those bands had pure talent, unlike the pre-fabricated brain washing crap they push now-a-days.

  • @sumofone1969

Couldn't agree more! I mean, everything is so instant ready-made today. What ever happened to raw musical ability & songwriting? Don't people PLAY instruments anymore? I wasn't even around duringn this period, and even a moron like me can see that things have changed for the worse. I recently saw a post from a teen regarding the Moodys, and he said "where the fuck did talent go?" That made me feel good! By the way, yes, The Who rock too!

  • @sumofone1969 There is still some good music out there but it isnt heard on the radio. BUt I agree about the MB's and music back then. I remember this well from my teen years, so much has changed and so much is still the same.

  • Reminds me of when it came out in '67. Girlfriend and I would debate what went on the turntable..she loved this, I lobbied for JA's 'Volunteers'. Didnt really matter now that I think of it - we spent every Sunday afternoon in bed 'debating' the question. Oh, to be 17 again with such problems !!

  • Mr.RollerDerby...Seeing your screen name reminds me of the derby's glory days. Pretty Judy Arnold, Big Jim Trotter, the Eastern Warriors. How could such an awesome sport become extinct?

  • Thank you so very much for posting the full version. I grew up with the Moodies and to me they have lost none of the magic that a young boy enjoyed so long ago!

  • I was stationed in Germany,70-72 and the music was three to four years ahead of what was being played in the U.S.

We listened to the MoodyBlues a lot.

    Thanks for posting.

  • 24 people with no clue ???

  • They never quite seemed rock but they make be recall time around 1967, not the later time when we knew this music. Lovely piece of work. Thank you for posting.

  • I reallllly want to visit that road in fall at 3 35, where would i go about finding it?

  • Not true that this song wasn't huge until 1972. Days of Future Passed was one of the first big "Concept" albums (along with SGT Pepper) and both Nights in White Satin and Tuesday Afternoon were hits in the US in '68 when I was in junior high and just really discovering rock.

  • @Cruiserfrank i am not sure that it makes a difference that the time line is a little off. the tail end of the 60's and beginning of the 70's, were still part of the same era. even if the song was, or was not, a big hit until well after the murder of sharon tate, and the others,it is still evocative of the spirit of that era. your point makes sense though. btw- i don't think the two songs you mentioned, really exploded until '72,but then again, i could be wrong.

  • What was the poem at the end of Nights in white satin about?

  • @Freyja1133 some bullshit that they dont repeat

  • @harryahmed420 Good point ,harry

  • Beautiful : )

  • the reason the 60s were the best times is because of the changes.racism, equal rights.the people had enough of it and fought the system.yes people were hurt but change is scary to the status quo. we are watching the same thing happening today in the middle east.the people are fighting for their freedom.and yes folks will die,but the seeds of freedom are planted.

  • #55 best songs of the 60s Tuesday Afternoon-The Moody Blues

  • Most artists and people under 35 at this time were so far from reality from drug use. That is the reason why times seemed better, in hindsight these days were not so good. HOWEVER i love this song. Anyone see jimi hendrix lately.

  • @palmyrarocks What have you been smoking? Most people were not "far from reality from drug use", and that includes the musicians.

  • Tout un groupe...encore à date et plus encore.

  • I had this album when I was young in Dallas. A gal that worked with my mom sent it to me through her. I think it was '69. Thanks mom.

  • A masterwork. It's a crying shame there's not music like this being produced today. Thanks for sharing!

  • Great video and a great song. :)
