Why Canon ditched the time lapse feature, I'll never know. They have it in the S95 but only in miniature mode for some reason. I'm hoping the s100 will have regular time lapse. This was an incredible feature. The thing the G9 didn't have, which would have made time lapse even better, was a wider angle --around 28mm-- for those landscape/cloud shots.
Hi, I also have a G9 but the time lapse function is only limited to 2 hours. Do you know how to extend it beyond 2 hours? Thanks! Chris (769082@gmail.com)
@volcomvenom Me too! Mine broke about a month ago, and I couldn't find anything decent to replace it (the G10 and G11 have cellphone-resolution video and no time lapse, no camera of that size from other brands had all the same features, let alone anything better) so I got the G9 fixed. I wish cameras were more like computers, and actually improved with each generation.
Hi Bill, I hope you are finding your G9 a pleasure to work with. The music for this is by Medwyn Goodall, Copyright Free music. If anyone knows where I can pick up the full set of about 8 albums, please let me know.
Thanks for your quick reply. I'll see if I can do some research and come up with a source for the music you used with your great time lapse video, as well as the rest of the albums you mentioned. And yes, I am really enjoying using and learning about the Canon G9. I have a couple of Canon DSLRs and assorted lenses, but the G9 is a camera I will carry just about all the time, to cover those occasions when the big gear is back home.
Lovely. But let it be known this camera should not be purchased for its time lapse feature. The resolution is a paltry 640x480. This camera looks like it rocks on everything else but for time lapse spend $180 on the Samsung S850 for its intervelometer option. You can take a pic every 1 or 2 seconds for three hours @ up to 8 mega pixels each(way better than 640x480!!) and then stich those pics together in quicktime pro, final cut xpress,or iMovie and voila! A high rez video of smooth time lapse.
i think you can actually buy a device to hook up to most digital slrs (canon) and can choose how many seconds each picture is taken then edit it on the computer.
That is quite true. However g9 is remotely controllable by a computer and there are time lapse programs that do wonders: GBTimelapse, PSRemote... So you can actually make high res time lapse with the g9. (which must be hooked to a computer of course) :)
Just go to movie mode and choose time lapse in the options.Camera will now fire once a second.Press shutter release again to finish recording. Now go to playback and press play.Easy when you know how.Good luck.

how do you turn timelapse off?!?!?!

How did you do this?

That's quite boring, apart from moving clouds there's nothing happening there. Try time-lapse with moving cars on the highway or main street.
People walking up and down the street. The few slides at the beginning don't seem to have anything to do with the time-lapse part in any way.
Good luck.

How long did you record for the complete video?
Thanks

about 6 minutes i think... because it's allmost 3 minutes long and i think the pictures might be taken every 2 seconds?

That would be correct if it was 1fps, but it's 30fps so it would take around 3 hours for 3 minutes of footage with a 2 second interval.

Hi Charles, Bill McCreary back again!
Hey, I did a search on the iTunes Store for Medwyn Goodall, and discovered he has something like 90 albums out there!! What a prolific artist!
Give iTunes a try and see if you can find what you're looking for.
Later,
Bill McCreary, Palmer, Alaska.
