  • Abe Lincoln and Charles Darwin were born on the very same day. One set free the physically enslaved while the other set free the mentally enslaved. 80% of the scientific world recognized evolution as the true history of life on earth within only 20 years from the time Darwin laid it all out. Most influential book in history.

"All truth passes through three stages. First it is ridiculed, Second it is violently opposed. Third it is accepted as self-evident." -- Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860)

  • Hmm, sounds like George Bush and his war policies. You are aware of how popular that ended up being, right?

  • yes <3

  • .....And that is where the logic fails behind your supposed "all benevolent God". Why would pure benevolence require blood sacrifice for forgiveness?

  • I was about to ask you the same question. Why are you arguing about a fairy tale? It's comparable to arguing about whether Thor or Apollo were more realistic than Zeus.

  • 3:09 owned. lol

  • William Jennings Bryan was a majoritarian. Clarence Darrow was a militant atheist in favor of individual rights.

Was it a 24 hour day?

  • I'm sorry, but this movie is an absolute PERVERSION of what really took place. In REALITY, things were quite the OPPOSITE from this film. The creationist (Bryan) had a kind character, & the evolutionist (Darrow) had a mean look. But in this movie, the CREATIONIST has the mean look while the evolutionist has the kind character. I dont understand why the present world enjoys twisted & distorting events to support their arguments.

  • Though Hollywood tends to distort things for added effect it can't be ignored that devote Christians who opposed the teaching of Darwin did often resort to lynch mobs and scare tactics to preserve their way of thinking. People have abused religion for centuries in order to gain power and influence over the masses and this case in general shined a light on that.

  • why does it matter what they look like?

    you're retarded.

  • Haha, just keep going to these sorts of videos, and you will witness the epitome of ignorance. I just don't even reply to these moronic Creationists anymore. It's a fucking waste of time.

  • This movie is annually shown at secular schools & colleges, to make students think that creationists are not trustworthy. That's not education, that's INDOCTRINATION, Soviet-style!

  • Lol... Its a good movie, people especially college students, can make up their own minds. If they can't by then, they should not be in university

  • The idea that one race, and in particular the white race, and especially the Nordic/Aryan/Teutonic/German sector, is superior to all others is total fallacy. But it was enthusiastically taught in American classrooms by Hunters Civic Biology, the textbook at the centre of the Scopes trial in 1925.

  • And what does science do? It looks back on itself and revises itself as new evidence and points of view come. What do people do when their bible is questioned? Cover their ears and scream.

  • Here here

  • Excellent clip! Excellent movie~! Spencer Trracy brillant in one of his last films!

  • this is such an amazing scene

  • yes it is!

  • its the loneliest feeling in the world, its like walking down an empty street listening to your own footsteps. but all you have to do is knock on any door and say if you'll let me in... i'll live the way you want me to live and think the way you want me to think, and all the blinds will go up and all the doors will open, and you'll never be lonely, ever again.

can you please post the clip of tracy, kelley and york ore trial, as that's a brilliant scene.

  • Hell if its good enough for Brady than its good enough for me!!!lol

  • it wasn't Drummond and Brady. It was Darrow and Bryan

  • We could use a lawyer like Drummond against Jack Thompson...

  • Ah.

Anyways, maybe we should stop using this board... before we both get blocked... 0_0

  • Because you said the King James version was properly translated.

  • So, why change his words? It's like lying...

If anything, the word should stay the same, I mean, the Devil has been based on the entity "Molech" who was the ruler of that "valley" according to the previous rulers, the Midianites. It was a sacred area where they sacrificed their children, yet, the word must be ignored?

Also, "Hell" is the WRONG WORD either way.

  • But... Jesus is NOT speaking of "Hell" yet the KJV has translated it AS "Hell"...

  • So... Jesus talking about fire is about a garbage dump where criminals were burned, and you acknowledge this?

You may have noted that words which are now translated as Hell, such as "sheol" in context, mean "hades" and such, right?

  • The "medium" is Jesus, who treats himself as God and a seperate entity from God... at least that's how Christians treat him...

According to the "not with, against" 'logic', a lack of knowledge qualifies as "hate".

  • "Hell = 54 times"

Ever check the original translation? The exact word which has been consistently sent to the english language is not really "hell", it's another word in it's original text. "Damnation" and "judgement", are terms, which the flood and all the slaughtering done in the OT qualify for as well. The very same goes for wrath.

  • I'm not trying to twist anything. The "cleanse sin" ignores what sins you have already done. Faith by itself = forgiveness, but lack of faith = eternal damnation?

According to the Bible (and you) I "hate Christ" simply by not putting faith in a self-sacrificing deity who makes a blood sacrifice because HE demanded blood in the first place.

Also, incidentally, Christians did NOT originally believe in Hell, did you know that?

  • You believe that by helping the church, your god will bless you for it? By following the church, all your wrongdoings are fixed and you are "forgiven"?

Ah, now it's the "hate God" or "hate Christ" claim... this is an extremely popular one, for no real reason.

It was only those twelve in Matthew, right? Did you read the other two accounts for the life/ressurrection?

  • "He was often poor, tortured, imprisoned and later executed; materialism doesn't work as a motive"

Unless your reward is in spiritual measures. Hey, if I were a man fearing death, I would easily jump to immortality or eternal life in heaven, wouldn't you?

I thought the "rewards" were by faith, not actions.

The 500 others only appear in one of the three accounts...

  • "Why would Paul, a man who hated Jesus and dedicated his life to killing and incarcerating Christians, suddenly became the greatest Christian missionary to ever live?"

It makes money, it has promises of eternal life... why not? I would too.

People imagine a lot of things they don't wanna see. You've had nightmares before.

  • You believe the words of Paul. Paul CLAIMED all of those things, Paul, a person who's job was MURDERING people, gets a holy vision, and you believe everything he says?

  • No, you label "worldview" for a negative on your own.

You are the one who doesn't even understand it. Paul wrote his writings on Jesus YEARS after Jesus supposedly lived, and guess who he inspired?

  • The "worldview" label only shows your ignorant. You assert "God" made the Bible, you picked the right God even though you may have just as well picked it out of a hat.

His "words" are in quotations. If they wrote that he ordered you to cut your hand off and gouge your eye out, you'd do it (not really). Even though they were lying.

You believe in the words of men CLAIMING to be given these thoughts by God, even though they never met Jesus, or ANY of the characters in the Bible.

  • "Your pithy not-so-informed comments against the Bible don't change reality"

Your pitiful attacks against non-believers don't make the Bible right.

Also, Jesus never wrote Revelations or any of it's words, you can't trust it because it because it is the word of a man.

  • It's fiction based on an event.

What's wrong with teaching "fiction" as "fact" when you believe the Bible? It's fiction taught as fact.

  • I have read the actual transcript of the trial. I have also watched the movie and read the original screenplay of it. If there are differences, so what? Films are films and transcripts are transcripts. I am also aware that the history of Richard III may differ considerably from the version told by Shakespeare but that has never kept me from enjoying the Bard. A life spent nitpicking this issue is wasted. Consider getting one. A life, that is. Same goes for Dr. Menton.

  • Hey Tere mire este clip de la pelicula "Inherit The Wind" La historia del juicio "creacion vs evolucion"
