It's a sad state of affairs- that American's (Euro)culture has so severely trampled over the Native cultures that once thrived here. I wish I had some way to learn some Native Language(s) of one of the Native groups that lived in my area in north central Illinois: Hocak, Sauk/Fox, Potawatomie, Dakota Sioux, (or ?). It would be very obscure now, but perhaps someday, these Languages and the Native Cultures they came with will somehow thrive again, in their native lands- in a better future.
