  • Rob Bell is a great person he knows his stuff an makes you think.

  • So is Rob Bell gonna give his new god a new name? If making up a new god is anything like making a new band, then naming it is one of the best parts! I'd go with Lovinator.

  • @dlewis1498 I haven't read his book, but the name of God is in the bible at Psalms 83:18. Believe it or not this name is in the Bible over 7000 times but for some reason many translators feel like they have the right to take it out, as well as reword the scriptures to describe what they believe in.

  • @dlewis1498 sigh. He is not making up a God! he is looking at the same God differently than you do, and honestly he knows scripture better than you do I would be willing to bet. Everything he does is steeped in the word of God.

  • Thanks for sticking up for the principle that can be learned from other selfless teachers and leaders like ones you cite. Also for crediting Rob Bell. Although he is a lightening rod in ways, so was Jesus and some of the others you mentioned that taught us the we principle. I hope you continue to stay along side of Rob Bell and ensure it is a team of we.

  • This is straight up universalism. Come on folks

  • @johnt3hbaptist Oh, please! SPARE US THE SPIEL!

  • @takitheterrible The spiel? What spiel? The 'this guy is basically a heretic because he's preaching that hell doesn't exist' spiel? Or the 'he is disregarding the common foundations of the gospel' spiel? Oh, or the 'he's basically a false teacher and is using fancy rhetoric and scholarship to cover up his defiance to Scripture' spiel? Let me ask you, are you being like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, checking this guy's stuff? Or are you just assuming it's correct?

  • @johnt3hbaptist if you dont like it, dont listen to it, but Jesus said to love everyone.

  • @dnegreanu165 Don't get me wrong, I love this guy as much as I love everyone. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't call out the false preachers. He is not preaching consistently with Scripture.

  • @johnt3hbaptist This is straight up duality. Come one johnt3hbaptist

  • I graduated 2006. I wish I had heard this talk then. Amazing, it really is.

  • John 3:16 Love Wins.

  • What people fail to realize is that in a secular school, Bible thumping is frowned upon. What this teacher did was full of grace, full of love, and did speak God's truth ... in a way that ALL could relate to. I do believe that Christ came for the purpose of love, and not division ... please examine your words ... which side are your words on? What do you put forth? Atticus demonstrated Christian faith, not so by what he said, but what he did. Were it that all Christians did the same.

  • Thanks for this Mr. Gordan.

  • This guy also has no idea what Christ was really like. Has he read a Bible. Probably not, or he wouldn't follow Bell.

  • @RJFerreiro apparently you dont know what christ was like either

  • @nteddyb I do; it's all over the Bible. Unfortunately, Bell doesn't put a lot of stock in the Word of God, preferring instead to make up stuff that makes him feel better.

  • Mr. Gordon!!!

  • Beautiful speech!

  • ...and those would all be examples of not practicing the belief of "Love Wins" and those would all be examples of completely violating what Christ stood for an using Him for one's own gain. You kinda proved the point... :)

  • This speech is so amazing!! not only did it prompt me to take on the concept of love wins myself but it also lead me to Rob Bell (who I think we can all agree is pretty dang awesome)

Anyways thanks so much for this speech and I pray it can continue to inspire people

    God Bless

  • You ought to watch "Rob Bell Nooma Dust Review" and "Christian Malpractice".

  • Although these videos make a lot of sense, I still think we need to understand that people interpret things in different ways.I personally was first drawn to Jesus when I saw how loving some of his followers were. Had these followers told me I would burn in hell if i didnt repent I would never have become a Christian because I would have refused to believe it. I dont think there is a right or wrong way to save people but I do think people should stop trying to bring down Rob for doing it his way

  • Oh - and one more thing. Yes. He put Jesus in the context of the rest - because they accomplished some similar achievements. Did Martin Luther King die for the sins of mankind? No - but he did die for an incredible cause. Just because a man is not Jesus does not mean he is not worthy of recognition as a great man. Use some logic and reason before making such statements. That is why g-d gave us that ability.

  • 'A bunch of nonsense'? Isn't 'sense' what we make of it as humanity? Is a world where love does not win the one you want to live in? The 'sense' in which we live is your choice - your and ours as humanity. If people choose it to be nonsense, then it will be. If we choose it to be senseful, than it will be that as well. Is the world in which you want to live one where it is nonsense?

  • He puts Jesus in the same category as the rest: NONSENSE!They did not overcome the world,JESUS did! He was not on a mission to do right,He came to save you and I!God created and it is still under the control of the universe, not us.We do not love others because they are human beings;we do because the bible says so.Next non sense is that people don't need to be judged but loved. Before you say the bible says we are not supposed to, read John 7:24. "love wins" is nothing but a cliché.lacks substance

  • And -why- does the bible say that? Because of the rational understatement that human beings hold intrinsic worth in and of themselves. There is logic to the statement beyond 'because the bible says so', which is irrational in and of itself. And I say this as a passionate follower of Christ. And yes, g-d is in control of the universe. But we still have the capacity to decide what is sensible. We have control over our own intellect and rationality. Wehavetheabilitytoapplysubstancetolovewins

  • Hey Issac>>>while it is obvious that you dont agree with the concept, and that is perfectly fine...i would like to remind you of one very important fact...no one said ANYWHERE...in tis speech or in the concept of Love Wins that people dont need to be judged...in fact a direct quote from Rob that I used was "don't misunderstand...there is still a need for justice...people are still responsible for their actions." The point is, respond in love. Discipline in love. Punish in love. No free passes

  • where can i get me one of those stickers?

  • Good stuff. With Rob you can't go wrong!

  • sounds exactly like Rob Bell's sermon... almost at times word for word. But his sermon "love wins" was one of the greatest sermons of all time. Obviously this guy agreed too.

  • actually the first quarter of it came from chapter 9 of To Kill A Mockingbird. I heard Rob's message while I was teaching TKAMB and it was amazing how it blended right in. So when it came time to write this speech I started with that and with what I had spoken to my kids, and then absolutely borrowed from Rob (and I give him credit in the comments of the speech). It is so cool to be part of a powerful idea that has existed for so long and is SO true.

  • you are the man for writing back...

  • @lillylars

I'm confused here so hopefully you can explain.I just read a story on msnbc.com which is about a Pastor who lost his job when he posted on Facebook his support for Rob Bell's "new" book, "Love Wins." Now this story is dated today, and it's about him posting on Facebook as if it's NEW or CURRENT, yet your video clearly shows you knew about him in 2007! You even knew it was called love wins! So what's going on, is it new or not? Thanks! !!

  • @BaronVonGodzilla Check out my video response I posted: It answers this question in full.

In short, the book is new... the original teaching he did was from 2004 which inspired my speech in 2006... the concept is as old as God ;)

  • @lillylars

Thanks appriciate it and you should look up that story I mentioned it's messed up man

  • 2 Tim 4:3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

  • Preach brother preach! Awesome! Possitive direction in a negative world!!!! Great Job!!!

  • LOVE WINS. tomorrow my team- LOVE WINS. will walk in the annual CHOC WALK held at disneyland.

ironic how i find this video today<3 thanks for the reminder of our team name :)

  • Great speech! I found it ironic that the American flag was waving in the background. Love wins...does the flag support that idea?

  • I love Mars Hill Bible Church.

    I love Rob Bell.

    I love Jesus Christ.

May he continue to bless you everyday.

    straight outta GR, MI baby!

  • For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

  • Will you marry me?

Really though, this is a tremendous speech. I hope they'll all choose to be a part of this puzzle of a revolution. I hope your words will resonate within them for years to come.

  • A simple concept but profound impact. Thank you Lane, thank you Rob, but most of all, thank you Jesus, Gandhi, Mother Theresa,...

  • the absolute, most amazing speech ever! normally i can hardly stand to sit through a kitsch graduation speech, but yours had so much more meaning. i had never thought of love as a modern day revolution and i'm so happy to be a part of it. thank you so much for posting this incredible speech!

  • There is some serious depth in that speech! I hope it didn't fall on deaf ears.

  • wow, that was an awesome speech

  • gorden....good speach g.

  • brilliant

  • Good Speech Love does win!

  • None of the graduation speaches I've ever heard had this much substance or significance. They're usually uninspired and topical.
