I have all the Cars albums as well as the solo work...except for Elliot Easton. Heard he had a solo release but I never found it. I always thought their music leaned toward the mystical...for me, anyway, as the overall sound brought to mind images of Autumn & the feeling of love (albeit painful) was just around the corner.

@Redrum267 Ric and Ben were friends who put this group together. Watch the last interview w Ben and the rest of the cars shortly before Ben died of cancer. You will hear a lot of the history behind the band as well as backround info on the rest of the band members.

When I was a teen I'd go see my older sister in Boston Mass. I'd catch a bus in Bangor Maine and when we entered Boston this was playing on my Walkman. Some sunlight bounced and glistened off a tall glass building just when the guitar in the song sounded like it does at 0:13, 0:26, 0:57 etc etc. that memory has always stuck in my head. I always think of bright summer sun bouncing off tall buildings when ever I hear this song ; )

Heartbeat City is the most precise LPs I have ever listened to. Robert Mutt Lange worked the boys real hard on this LP. Can't think of a bad song on this LP...IMHO

I imagine this song being used in a new video; a woman in her upper 30's or 40's dresses very 80's with high heals, as she's walking down the street in her blonde wig the angry Rappers, EMO, and Grunge Kids are upset with her. She continues to walk past the modern CountryRockers and down the street past the many different styles that came after the 80s all the way to 2008. All styles from the 90s and 2000s squirm as she violants even their conflicing views with each other. She's alive with hope.

What a hit! Even though they rarely play this awesome song on the radio. In fact, radios mostly play the boring ones and rarely the goodies. They don't make music like they used to. Most of the songs in this 1984 Cars album are so great and so inspiring, I mean, for 80s music. Music back then had so many great tunes. I love thy 80s, those were the days, the prosperous days that I still miss to this day. All thanks to The Cars, the best band of all times. They deserve an A+. Thank you.

This is a classic, the sound at the 00:25 touches my heart. THIS is the thing about the Heartbeat City that i like a lot also. You can find similiar sounds in almost every Cars' song in Heartbeat City! That's one of the cool things about HC :D! HC... xD!
