Do you for your health, do it for your keikis!

  • Good fun... mahalo for the lesson... say hello to Mike Kaawa from the bodysurfers ova hea on the mainland.

  • Hey,! Love your playing -- listen to it often. But, a couple comments, constructive, I hope. One, The turning on this one seems a little rough, but more importantly, I find the balance is better withe the guitar up front and the uke behind -- the uke in front tends to mask and "muddy" the guitar melody line. Still, some of the most enjoyable music on line -- thanks a bunch and please, keep it up !

  • Constructive criticism is also appreciated. I agree with both your points G Wahine ( tuning used) has only the 3rd string tuned down 1/2 step as the difference between it & Taropatch. I normally just tune that string by ear & if I miss it by a fraction sharp or flat it screws the whole tuning. Didn't help that I seemed to miss all the harmonics on this take too. We settled on the guitar in the backgroud so the viewers could see the fretboard for learning purposes. Thank you for your input. ;-)

  • Been enjoying your music on a slack key playlist for the last week or so. Great tunes and great sound quality on the vids too. Thanks! -An Oregonian in Belgium

  • Wow hello from the other side of the planet. Great to hear that you've found enjoyment in this art form we're trying to represent. Thank you for your kind words. It makes sharing the music so much more rewarding.

  • Mahalo for the nice comment, good ear you got

    it's in G Wahine.your obviuosly familiar with

Ki ho'alu do you play?Don't hesitate to email

& talk story about it.....Braddah Duke

  • I sort of "attempt" to play Ki ho'alu. Mostly in open G but I'm starting to branch out to other tunings. I've played rock guitar for over 25 years now. This slack key geetar really has opened my ears. In fact, it's all I really play anymore. That and ukulele. I met Dennis Kamakahi once at the airport and he was just so nice and down to earth...I've been really digging Ray Kane lately (RIP). What an incredible musician!

  • Classic! Great going Uncle Duke!

  • Mahalo Braddah Layne this is one that every

slacker should learn.Met Uncle Raymond Kane

only once,But like alot of other people was

very much influenced by this classic.

  • Braddah, that's the best motivater for me to

know that someone is getting inspiration from

our videos. Keep learning my man as will I.

And thank you so much for the compliments.

    Aloha,

    Braddah Duke

  • Excellent. Mahalo for posting. I like the bass run.

  • Mahalo much for the cool comment. As for the

bass run, I've always played it like that.

Only now I realize it might actually belong

in Aunty Alice Namakalua's "14 Measures"

    Aloha,

    Braddah Duke
