  • The dorsomedial nucleus of the Thalamus is the most important functional component of the limbic system as most of its efferent fibres terminate in the prefrontal area of the frontal lobe. That's the full picture! Meanwhile the basal ganglia including Caudate, Putamen, Globus Pallidus and Amygdala serve as Control Centres. In other words, what we "sense" is not what it really is.
