  • "Twothreefourdrawdrawdrawdrawblowdrawdraw. Just play it!" -.- Wouldn't it be better to make the tabs show on the screen?

  • I got very excited when I saw this video only to be disgusted by the fact that my harp is in c...I just learned to play the song on guitar and was hoping to impress by blowing my lungs out.Well I have to buy an A major harp now. Thanks for the upload

  • hi pazzman!! men i got a question PLEASE help me. i have a E blues harp. it works for this song???? Thanks!! peace.

  • I'm not trying to be a critical dick or a troll, but what your playing sounds a little off from the actual song. People wouldn't notice the difference live with other instruments playing unless they are a hardcore harmonica fiend. If you play by hearing like me, I understand. I have the same problem sometimes, but the tabs are off from what's in the actual song if you go by what you're playing. I don't usually use tabs, but I think that sums up some people's confusion. I could be wrong.

  • Bro put some tabs up please

  • what tone is exactly?

  • ..please help me....i just bought a harmonica but....its weird...the holes,the function..and all about it....man..its better if i bought a harp....

  • DUDE YOUR ORIGINAL MUSIC ROCKS CRAZY!

These lessons have proved invaluable to me. Thanks you loads Pazzman! :)

  • thanx you got me thinking about playing the harmonica again

  • men can you teach "slow the pace" by motörhead plis...tnx a lot

  • Where are the tabs for this song, your description is quite confusing. Or I'm just a dumbass.

  • Chuggin is right, but he has the opening riff wrong. John Sebastian (harp player on record) was very talented. He uses a partial 4 bend in the lick very quickly which is hard to hear. I believe there is actually a quarter bend 4 bend then a full bend in the tune. My harp teacher taught me this years ago.

This is not exact, but much closer

    2draw

    3draw

    4 blow

    4 partial bend

    4 draw

then full then 4 full bend

    draw 3 slight bent,

    2 draw

  • excellent thank you

  • I c the B brother! Bruins dont f up this year

  • so this cant be done on a C harp. CRAP!!!

  • what would be a good harmonica for a newbie to learn the blues?tyjerry

  • @crackmanification check out the harp group... more detailed info in there

  • @crackmanification just to let you know pazz. u wanna resolve on the 2 draw never the 3blow very seldom will you use 3blow. might use it for breathing tech. thx for the up load doing great

  • @sheenalamb true... 2 draw is a much better/versatile note... I only started learning that from feedback after I started doing these videos... It is crazy how much I have to learn, and how far I've come from just interest, but not really studying technique/harmonica music theory, until the last 2 years...

  • @pazzmanmusic dude me too i am on a journey as well. i have been playing for 4 years going on 5. do u have any new stuff?

maybe you can check out some of my videos type juan huertas harmonica in youtube and tell me what u think, i would love some hard core feed back

  • @crackmanification i bought a hohner for 5 bucks at cracker barrel, its in the key of c

  • @crackmanification

Hohner, Key of C, Marine Band or Blues Harp. Either will do and set you back around 3 hours pay wherever you are.

  • hey i have a harmonica made by hohner. its really big and it say on the other side Echo Bell Metal Reeds. it has two side with two different sounds. could you post a video about how to use one of those or send me some help about what i have and how to use it. its old and i found it in the back of a closet at my grandfathers house and sounds really good. thanks for any help get back to me if you can.

  • @evan251990 hey man... i dont know too much on that harp without seeing or playing it before... But it likely has 2 notes tuned an octave apart and perhaps doesnt have the same scale structure as the basic 10 hole diatonic harmonica that i use/teach on... Best bet (sight unseen) is to find music that is in the same key, and play some root notes in 1st position (see tutorial if that makes no sense).. sorry i couldnt be more help...

    mike

  • @pazzmanmusic thanks for the help man. i also have two other harmonicas one is the one with the button on the side the super chromonica and i basically learned how to play piano man with it. and then i have a marine band harmonica it has 14 holes and is sorta harder to play then the chromatic one cause i cant get the right pitch.

  • I never much cared the blues,but you're getting me intersted.thanks.

  • mines one with the numbers 1 to 10 how do i play it if its 1 through 10

  • thanks for this how to video i think im finally getting it down. :] btw you look really familar did you go to the mermaid parade this year? are you the captain from the subway? bc if you are that would blow my mind, then this really is a small world.

  • i cant use a G harmonica to play this?

  • @pantherax1 it is a different key, so will sound different... the idea there is that if you play the same chords on the guitar, but use a capo, you use a different key harmonica... that idea make sense to you? The different key harmonica is just a slightly different pitch.. The G is just slightly lower then the A...

  • i just bought a harmonica monday, and thanx to you i know how to play it a little...great video

  • That's pretty good, I just bought a harmonica and I'm beginning to learn

  • I Love this one!!! How do I get to the "about the video section" dso I can check the tabs as I play?

  • @v1s1onsofjohanna its right under the video... also think there are other transcribed notes in the comments section somewhere?? Cheers!

  • hey nice vid but i dont get how to bend.

  • @AmAtOrY7 check out my video on that one!

  • is your harmonica in the key of Aminor or Eminor

  • @TheGamerindisguise its an A Major diatonic harp.

  • The harmonica is such an awesome invention.

  • hell ya! awesome tune!

  • Thank you for help...very good

  • very bad tab i cant anderstand

  • @djTbilisi want to do a favor and re-tab it out ? I will thank you by listing you in the about the video?

  • I LOVE THIS SONG

  • You are totally Awesome Thank you for the lessons

  • I have a dumb question. In your last step in the tab, you mention, "Resolve to a 3 blow." What does "resolve" in in this sense. Sorry for the dumb question.

  • @ZoneIII Sorry for the delay! In music, the idea of 'resolving' is coming back to a root or base note. That would be the "1" is most cases. Like when you are singing, and hear that there should be 1 more note to end a stanza...

  • @pazzmanmusic Thanks much! I guess I understood it intuitively but I just never heard that term before. Thanks again!

  • Hey! Thank you very much! My son's band is having a renunion concert after many years and it's going to be a huge party at a club. Knowing that I fool around with the harp a bit, he asked if I would like to do the harp part for Roadhouse Blues. Your instructions are the best and easiest to understand that I have been able to find. You are a good instructor! I really appreciate it.

  • is there any way you can write these tabs out? kinda like the 4 bar blues you did...diggin the sound...thanx...

  • please to more how to's PLEASE

  • THANK YOU

  • Which harps is that you're using? I mean, brand, model, etc.

  • Thanks for making this video you rock!

  • Patrick691, The guitar is in standard tuning. For E blues (E A B) you would use an A scale harmonica because some notes are bent on the harmonica to match the Eminor pentatonic scale (EGABDE) or the E blues scale (EGABflatBDE). The rule usually is that the harmonica key is the 4th note of the guitar key for blues. ie E blues= A harp, D blues =G harp, A blues =D harp etc.Other harps work too for E blues such as C , G, D but you are limited.

  • Is the guitar tuned down a half step in this song? How is A major used with a guitar playing in E minor?

  • great choice of tune to use too 8)

  • hey make a vid on when the levee breaks great song i like the doors as well though cool vid

  • dud that so cool ,,, i had a bone and its just sitting a draw for years.....post some basics for slow going dud like me ...awsome.

  • ya mate, you could give me the tab, you know, for example 4 4 (5) 4... etc, this song is so good, i wanna learn it, greeting dude,

  • hey its me ummmmmmmmmmm i wanted to learn this song so i usually check tabs while watcing bbut... could u possibly make them a little less complicated? like how they are in your low rider tabs? that would be appreciated

    ps nice songs of yours.

  • check out the 'about the video' section.. I had a hand transcribing this one... hope it helps, and thanks for checking out my music!! cheers!

  • he looks like johnny damon

  • does it mater what kind of Harmonica you have? could playing that song still be possible weith ANY harmonica?

  • Awesome video. But no offense, WTF are you talking about? I guess I gotta learn the terminology first if I wanna learn how to play.

  • draw = inhale

    blow = exhale

    harp = harmonica

    pazzman = the dude

  • cheers fur that ma man

    great tune

thancks for the avice on the cross harp n shit

good to see someone takin time out there day to help fellow musicians

  • if so i wanna be able to play that for sure.. ahha.. awesome..

  • Your videos are awesome, you got me into harmonica and now you're really helping me too learn it. Thanks you very much for your videos. Great effort. And, better yet, you're a red sox man! (or so it seems from that cap)!

  • is not dead men!!! it's more alive than ever again! Rock n rolL!!!

  • Heck yea Rackura!

  • shameful, 65 thousand views and only so many ratings. AWESOME vid man :D

  • thanks for the support... if you just rate it 64K that will be Amawezsome (this word is patent pending)..

    Happy Harping!!

  • pazz thanks for all your videos they are great , they are helping a lot , greetings from Colombia.

  • Word! Thanks dude!

  • pazz- thanks for the video, it got me off to a good start! Disregard the nonesense from jackkrugerv1......the song is absolutely in the key of E and an A harp is of course the right cross-harp.

  • jaajajja yeah right i only have one harmonica in its of key c and i can play this song is very easy ya know

  • YEAH REP BOSTON BABY!

  • you think this song is in the key of C?

I agree I do not do the song justice.. There is more going on; little embellishes and whatnot. If you hear them and understand them, the best way to learn is to teach it to yourself. This video was designed for beginners. If you think you can do a better job, please do, and please post it as a video response. (I am totally serious, its all about learning/sharing/teaching).. I however doubt that you will do that... no offense. (spelled correctly)

  • you r right i wont do a video you r right teaching beginners in a dying instrument only 2 people in my town play and what key is it in

  • you know everyone in your town? You must be like the mayor, and I disagree harmonica is a dying instrument.

  • jackkrugerv1 the harmonica isnt a dieing insturment its actually making a comeback. alot of young people like myself are learning. look at the views, there are videos pazzman has that have had 500000 views. thats alot of people wanting to know how to play a so called "dieing insturment".

  • any one else think its funny he has a brooklyn shirt on and is wearing a boston cap? HAHAHA

  • It's not team or city loyalties, I just have a penchant for the letter B...

jk, NYC, but a Boston fan... a conflicted self.

  • i love this song...

  • A harmonica or C or...?

  • He says A Major

  • Dudddee.... No offense but this vid. isnt as instructional as the others. I've actually learned a lot from you this past week lol a lot. But i thnk i'm ganna have better luck playin this song out by ear... is that how you learn most of your music???

  • Thats how I learn all of it... well I hope this is at least a little instructional, and gives you a backdrop to learn from.

  • Fer sure it is..... You are both inspirational and informative.. Hey have you ever hear of a "golden cup" harp? its wat i got...and im pretty sure its not the best. any recommendations on harps would be highly appreciated. I want one that has a bluesy sound, but can also play uptodate songs. thx for the reply!!!

  • havent heard of that one, but looked it up, it looks kinda cheapo. i would recommend one in the key of A for bluesy stuff.. honer special 20, or lee oskar are good 1st brands. check out the harmonica group for any other questions.. i go over harp recommendations there.. cheers

  • Hell yeah man, I appreciate the help.

  • try 2 draw instead of 3 blow , there's a lot more blues going on in that note .

  • Pazz; love your vids. IS there any way I can get a CD of your cover songs? .... love your woman no cry.

  • I could potentially set something up if you really wanted... I have a reverb nation site linked where you can download songs... I could record another song and put it up there for download.. let me know what songs you'd like and what parts, and what its worth for ya and I could one time it maybe? or other thoughts? Perhaps just come back and listen to it on youtube and increase the views.. haha

  • rockin, dude

  • hey great vid

ahh when do you let your breath out on the main riff?? do u jus let it all out on that 1 blow note??

  • This is just personal opinion and playing preference, but I think sliding all the way down to the 1 draw is going a bit low.

Other than that, great lesson. I've learned alot from you. I was messing around with my dad at christmas playing the Low Rider riff and him playing guitar. Turned into a 10 minute jam based completely around that riff.

  • Thats awesome to hear! Thanks soo much! Makes me happy I was able to share the joy of music!

  • cool video man

the original harp for this song (roadhouse blues the doors) is E or A?

    thanks a lot :)

  • This is an A maj diatonic harmonica (for playing along in E)...

  • so if i was playing an A blues jam on guitar what kind of harmonica would i need? i just started playing the harmonica and your videos are great!

  • You can choose between A (=straight) and E (=cross)! There are even more possibilities, but not for jamming with a guitar!

  • I think you would want a D harp for Cross harp, unless Im mistaken?

  • sorry! you're right! D harp for Cross harp!

  • cool thanx alot guys!

  • hey man, just posted a video response with nothing to do with the doors haah but just wanted to show all of your viewers how good of a player you have made me. i started off watching your vids to learn to play. thanks!

    jimmy

  • You did a good job instructing this,

    thanks

  • I've always been interested in learning to play, but nobody has shown me how. I'm a singer but there's just one teensy little thing I don't read music! I play by ear, including some guitar and piano. I seem to learn my way around just by using my ear. can I do that with this, too? Key of A doesn't mean anything to me. I'd appreciate any help at all!

    Thanks!

    PS - Any George Thorogood?

  • key of A means the harmonica says "A" if you play guitar, you know you can play different notes... one such note is an A.. same idea

  • sorry, ,the only time ive ever done this whole song live was impromptu in a bar in CT.. live band. i had the harp on me and my friends (co-workers from a training session) were yelling to the band for MORE HARMONICA... and then pointing to me... actually turned out exrreemly well however.. :)

  • i dont think my harmonica is good.. idk though cause my seems much bigger than yours and i really want to learn plz help

  • this is a 10 hole diatonic harmonica in the key of A.. .i say so in the beginning of the video... not sure what your using, this is what i teach on though

  • probobly you use CHROMATIC harmonica with "button" or TREMOLO or OCTAVE harp.

for blues you need DIATONIC (10holes)

  • ok ill get one, now do i buy one that is like automatically in a certain key or can you change the key yourself? or is there just one key for harmonica?

  • different keys.. this one is in the key of A.. there is: A B C D E F G Ab Bb Db F# and Gb I think..

  • about the video dood

  • how would i play this on a C harp??.....any guidance?

  • you wouldnt.. or you wouldn't play along with this at least... you would need to transpose the guitar song... so the guitar would play in a different key... use the same shape on the harmonica for the same relative pattern, just will sound higher

  • plese write the tabs

  • about the video

  • please write the tabs!

  • about the video

  • You have the best lessons on Youtube. Got me playing this song (my favorite by The Doors too) in less than 5 mins. Thanks so much.

  • Any chance you can throw the 'tabbing' in the info instead of saying what you do? heh.

  • hey bro! I watch this video one night, and the next day I bought my first A harp! lol and I love it! awesome job!!!

  • actually can you write this down

  • thanks dude the doors are my fav band:)

  • i been tryin to figure this out for a few months.. im not to good at playing chords im better at melodies and lead lines.

    but thank you alot.

  • Here are some of the specific riffs that Pazzman mentioned: A major harp, play in key of E (cross harp) d123 d-d-dbd d-d-dbd b 234, sliding 4draw bent then slide 3 draw 2 draw 1 draw 6 blow 5 draw 5 blow Lot of stuff on 4 draw Walk up from 12 bar blues 3b 3d 4b 4d 4 draw, resolve to a 3 blow
  • Thanks soo much for the help MEB!!

  • I've seen two versions of the tabs for this song, one in G and this one. I'm trying both out, the slide draw bend is slightly tricky for me at least! Keep up the awesome stuff!

  • Thanks for that...Are you in Bostonish or just a sox fan?

  • i was bostonish, and hence: the sox fan-izm...

    cheers Bostonmoejo

  • I've only got a c harmonica :(

  • :( sorry

  • still ply it on that harp its will just be in a diiferent key but good to practice till you get your A

  • you forgot to put up the tabs on the side, it makes it much easier with those up there

  • great! thanks alot man this really helped!

  • great You are ready for Bob Dylan! Can you do "On the road again"? please!"I want you", "Pledging my time"
