  • i have a vortech mustang gt and i want to put a intercooler on it or meth injection, will i need to have it retuned after i install the intercooler

  • @cbeck611 It really depends on the setup you go with! If you go with a meth injection kit you can run it for safety at current power levels, or use it to allow more room for aggressive tuning. If you go with a large A/A intercooler that has a high pressure drop, you will need to at least re-pulley and maybe retune at that point; however, with all of these, if you don't add boost (smaller pulley) or get your tune redone you won't pick up hardly anything from an IC/Meth kit by itself!

  • im kinda of new to this. im getting a 2002 gt with pypes violator, (it already has the violator) but i want boost and stuff too, but i heard tunes mess up your ecu. any tips for me?

  • @MrAllange A tune won't "mess up" anything! I used SCT's Xcal products, had tunes made by Modular Powerhouse (they don't do this service anymore :( I recommend finding tuners in your area, ask what software they tune with, then buy the appropriate handheld flasher (or if you want to also mess with it yourself SCT Pro Racer as well as Delta Force Tuning (previously Sniper Inc) makes good stuff too) and have the car dyno tuned by whoever is THE BEST tuner u can find and have them custom tune it.

  • @MrAllange Ya save the money you are going to spend on a GT and a procharger setup. Then get on ebay and buy a cobra waaaaay more expandable

  • did you do any engine work? (upgraded rotator assembly, etc) or is the motor itself stock? (no upgraded pistons, rods, etc)

  • Motor was bone stock from the oil pan to the lower intake manifold. Those 2v motors reach there "limit" around 450-480rwhp usually because of the weak stock rods/pistons, but I never had a problem later when I ran that much power....but a lot of people do! heh

  • If I remember correctly it was running 12-13lbs of boost at that point. It was underpowered because of a lack of proper tune at that point though.

  • I'm about to buy the aftercooler for mine. On 10lbs of boost I make 422hp/420tq

  • Yep! Stock from the top to the bottom, minus shifter. Stock clutch, flywheel, and all that as well. I never had any clutch slip, or anything... Launched the car at 6200RPM drag racing on DOT slicks, no problems ever. :D

  • What PSI are you running? Im going to be picking up an '02ish GT here soon and I was planning to eventually SC it but I dont know how hard much boost is on those 4.6L 2v engines and was wondering what all work is needed and what upgrades I need to do to make it secure with around 10-14 PSI , could anyone else here reply if you know? Also, what would be the best Supercharger in the $3,500ish price range

  • hey i got a question, i have a completly stock 04 mustang gt and i want to suprcharge it. what kind of supercgarger should i go with and can i run it with everything else stock on my car?

  • there are many superchargers out there from procharger, novi, kenne bell, and vortech, it depends on your budget. if you do just the supercharger you can keep everything stock. u will have to upgrade your fuel pump, MAF sensor, and fuel injectors for the most part but you can keep you engine block stock. with just the supercharger you will be getting around 360-370whp

  • I don't get why people fix up a mustang GT real bad ass, full-bolt-ons plus supercharger and then they get rid of it

  • 1) I had the car for 4 years, it was getting old. 2) I needed the money. 3) I got tired of working on it lol.

  • Do you have cams and heads? and what psi are you running? Nice car btw.

  • 100% stock longblock. It was running 13psi - and was running out of fuel (needed a larger pump than single focus pump).

  • It's intercooled. Has a huge front mount. I actually just sold the car today.

  • The car ran 12.20's@115mph in the 1/4 mile - the track is about 700ft above sea level.
