@gazzo45 Just look at the 'Afterglow' album: CH have a history of putting would-be classics as b-sides or leaving them out completely! Either NF's quality control is a bit 'iffy' at times, or the Company 'suits' have had too much control - I'd say that it's the latter (if 'Chocolate Cake' is anything to go by).
@anthonythirteen In the liner notes of Afterglow, it mentions that Neil was unhappy with a couple of the songs, most surprisingly Time Immemorial, so I think he's a bit too self critical at times. However, in the case of most of the songs, they just didn't fit with the tone of the album. Strangely enough, they come together quite nicely on Afterglow. This song would have fit perfectly on Time on Earth.
@pwgabachito This is why it is important to have a great producer: not only do they bring in creative ideas, they also provide an objectivity to song selection/arrangement. I think Nick Seymour felt there was 1 more album in the band before the mid-1990s split: Afterglow showed he was right.
Neil Finn is a giant of songwriter, I do wonder at some of his decisions at times.
Crowded House stinks, but Pajama Club is worse than ever!!!!

If you don't get goosebumps listening to this song - you are a brick. Or a plank of wood. This is as beautiul as music gets.

why is it that their "b-sides" are as good as their "a-sides"? Oh, wait... I got this one...
They're fucking brilliant.

This is a gorgeous song - it should've been on 'Time on Earth' instead of 'Heaven That I'm Making'.
Who else writes songs like this and hides them away on a b-side? Neil is a genius.
