hey this was my car my friend posted the video its gone now a year ago a women hit me head on and totaled the car. It has true duals on it i custom made headers and it had to flowmasters on it. also the car had a different gear stage 3 clutch and i eventually put a 50 shot of nitrous on it. the funny thing is that six months after the wreck i hooked a jumper box to it and it cranked right up! tough motors

You guys need to check out project bolt on by stinger performance. They took a stock mustang 2.3 4 banger, and turbo'd it. And they are beating built V8's and everything. It has 350 horsepower. And the little 2.3 will lift the front wheels off the ground. There is a video on the web site To say the least.

i like this argument. im going to put some wisdom into this lol. all old cars are cool in their own way. the 4 cyl mustang is cool because its weird. the 5.0 sounds beautiful but if you want to talk about speed/hanling the 8 cyl mustang would kill the 4cyl doing anything. but both types are equally terrible at handling but hell its a muscle car. love it for what it is and when you want to run your 5.0 mustang against my 2.2 honda prelude be my guest :D

Why do you think SVO chose a 2.3L over a 5.0? A 2.3L Stang has a superior weight distribution for handling. 51% front 49% rear. Give them enough boost and they'll make over 500hp.

Well, even back then, they pumped out economical 289's and straight 6 models for the cheaper, less performance minded american. Ford really liked there little 2.3 and they where desprit to get it out there. Wanted to prove an american brand can build a respectable four banger, im pretty sure SVT built a four cyl mustang with good milage and decent numbers. Back then, ford was hard pressed to completly drop the mustang as a classic musculer pony car and make a modern sports car in its place.

And over 35 mpg's, and setting up the 2.3 like the Turbo coupe t bird is fairly cheap for the power. I've seen 2.3's do 9 second quarter miles. But dont get me wrong. If I have the choice, im going with the V8 like any sane person.

The 5.0 is the exact same block and piston profile, just tinkered with to be fuel injected. And its techniqaly a 4.9, but ford was making a 300 CID straight 6 they dubbed the 4.9, and just wanted it to call it something different. And here are the numbers for ya- 2.3 stock, reaches 146 hp at 6000+ rpms, but peak torque is 120ish. The 3.8 V6 is just below 200, with a little over 200 fp of torque. The 5.0 is 220 hp and 250 fp of torque.The numbers arint that far off. You can get more from the V8

Mustang is not and never was a muscle car. In the 60's it had 289's. Back when four door sedans had 500's, the tiny V8 was back then what we consider this to be now. Pony car. small car, average motor. And from my experence, the 2.3 is easier to tinker with than the 302. Sure, V8 is better, but make good with what you got.
