  • fucking amazing

  • I love how you all are arguing whether it's a hoax or not because he wouldn't have the finger ability or dexterity...

...You guys realize he's not actually good, right?

  • the finger dexterity was acquired how???the head injury "explain" his newfound musical sequencing ability, but what about the muscel training of the pianist dexterity???

i am doubtful. Some physical abilities with the piano are physically impossible to acquire overnight.

  • @jeetendrag10acc2 Exactly what i am thinking. This guy personally emailed me to say i am a loser for posting my opinion on him being a savant. the ability to play with such ease comes from practice. even if you know every note by heart, or see it in your head, executing it cannot be acquired that way. sorry buddy. i still call HOAX.

  • @jeetendrag10acc2 there is a kid thats on a tv show that can mimic a person playing a piano

  • To those who call bullshit, this is not an isolated case. There have been many people who have suffered brain damage and gained savant abilities. This can happen. Whether this particular guy is telling the truth or not about his new-found piano talent is unknown, but he is at least telling the truth about his brain damage. In another clip, they show his MRI results. watch?v=AbPyxX5t-IE

  • Thumbs up if you think this dude is full of shit, and trying to get his mediocre abilities recognized to start a career on the OMG factor.

  • ok so let me get this right you have a 50% chance to die 49.9% change to become retarded and a .1 chance to become a piano sex god if you hit your head on the bottom of a water filled pool... hmmm someones feeling lucky today ^.^

  • i call bullshit

  • @LedGuitar1218

You called it right!!! Discovery channel did not do their research. Derek was in a band in high school and after. He is a con artist and they should have interviewed anyone who knew him from Sioux Falls!

  • @Dakotagirl87 I've never done my research nor will I but I'm just saying that Derek claimed to have never played a PIANO.

  • @KoreaRwkz He also claimed to not have played any instruments. Being as musically inclined as he was when he was younger pretty sure it would not take getting hit on the head to play the piano!

  • Lesson: If you hit your head hard enough you may discover your hidden potentials! This gives me an idea...

  • mind=blown

  • cool!

  • Its actually possible to have this "crossing over" of senses during an L.S.D trip, seeing sounds, tasting emotion, hearing touch sensations etc.

  • It can even happen in some individuals "normally". It is called synesthesia. I have it when I am sick.

  • @1RadicalOne So you're saying you suddenly have these talents when you're sick?

  • No, not at all. I have the blending of senses - for me, particularly touch and sound - when sick.

  • @1RadicalOne In that caqse you should try to hone those ablities whenever posible ,if you don't already that is .What's it like when that happens ?

  • Mildly unpleasant, since it creates a somewhat unsettling feel.

One common occurrence is association of touch of different areas on my hand - especially my right hand - with sounds of different pitches and volumes. Though usually all sound like an industrial turbine.

Another common occurrence is the activation of facial-recognition cognition when seeing a non-face image, frequently a vehicle. How many times have I thought "she looks like Maya [my wife]..." when seeing an Acura CSX (my car).

  • Hm that does sound odd but if you can practice with it you might get over that feeling of discomfort .

  • Actually, that feeling is probably hardwired.

  • Hm...well it was worth a try .

  • @Herobrandon Synesthesia and Savant Syndrome are two toally different things

  • Yes I know , if one has onr oe the other they should cultivate ,and use it to the beswt of there abilty .

  • That's really amazing. Wish good things like this happened all the time.
