Almost the entire muslim population of thrace fled and lost their homes when Bulgarian army came. Their houses and villages were burned,mosques destroyed.
Thousands of people were killed. But when Bulgaria lost the war. The Muslim and greeks took revenge, when Turkish army came back to Thrace they saw the Bulgarian villages with no damage next to destroyed muslim villages. Many more muslims were killed and fled than Bulgarians. Bulgarian territory became bigger.

Most of the victims are not women and children. 6000 Turkish soldiers died and 30.000 pkk fighters. Turkish army doesnt kill civilians there are millions of Kurds living in Turkey, many Kurds are in Turkish army or politics.
Almost all civilians killed were by pkk itself, it even made bombs against european tourists.

Pomaks were voluntary converts to Islam. Rape, pillage, & forced conversions were in fact typical of anti-Muslim forces, e.g. the various Crusades in Europe (e.g. in Spain, & the Baltic), and the horrific persecution of the Pomaks by Christian Bulgarians (this included burning Pomaks to death). As for "dhimmitude" and "jizya" - this was a protection for minorities in Islamic lands, the Christians and Jews (and others) being allowed to rule their own communities by their own laws, and as for jizya ... the Jizya tax is actually LESS than the tax on Muslims.
