  • In the American folk song book "Rise Up Singing" there are so many beautiful and sad songs about mountaintop removal: Deborah Silverstein's /Draglines/, John Prine's /Paradise/. Your song makes a weighty addition to that list.

  • Thanks, man, I appreciate it.

  • Sir

My heart weeps when I hear you sing this song . The mountains, the oil spills its all the same . If you look back in history its everything woody guthrie was talking about .

It is so sad history repeating over an over .

My hat goes off to you sir . thank you for the song .

    Peace.

  • @Hybrid5226 Thank you, Brother.

    peace

  • Another 5 stars. Masterpiece!!! Wish I could disappear into that picture at the end and leave this to heavily industrialized nation behind

  • Unbelievable what we do to this beautiful planet we live on. We don't deserve it! 5 * performance!

  • great song man , conservation of our land should be first an fore most.

  • Excellent! Thank you for sharing!

    5 Stars!

  • Archie- That was great!

  • Most excellent song. Thank you,

  • This just may be a masterpiece. You have so many other great songs its hard to say for sure. I know this is my favorite song on planet earth right at the moment.

  • Thank You! Beautiful song horrible issue.

  • Oh and more one thing-

great name - Lost Hills- we are proud to be Hillbillies but without these hills- we would just be billies. Stephen Colbert is right.

  • WOW- great song and it is a crime what the coal industry is doing to the Appalachian Mountains. There ought to be a law.

This song is right on! with what is happening.

  • worthy cause,and a worthy song too,love it

  • What a stupid thing to do to a thing that's been around longer than our whole species.

Thanks for writing this song Arch.

    Peace to you and Erin

  • Thanks man. If we don't get our shit together soon, I think our whole species is doomed....

  • ya I understand. It's amazing to me that A. someone would or might defend the actions of these companies and B. that someone might be okay with working at a company that did this. Money or not I'd never lend my hand to such a thing. But ya I feel that there is no hope for our species. We're running ourselves off a cliff, and my only hope is that we don't take the whole planet with us. How selfish would that be?

  • Right back for this one. BRILLIANT!! WoWoW!!!

  • First off this is a FANTASTIC original environmental topical protest song!!! Your one of my heroes for sure.... we really need to put an end to this business of blowing up the top of mountains for coal!! why dont they just build a clean modern nuclear power plant!? or get their coal the old fashioned way. fawk!!!!

  • Thanks Dan. I haven't been on the tube as much as I like to lately. We recorded this song back before Christmas, and just got around to posting it. I've got some other stuff that's hanging fire, too, and I've been missing a lot of my friends' videos. It's getting harder and harder to make a living in this country, but yet there are more billionaires than ever before. Greed is destroying our nation, and mountain top removal is just one example of that. Where's Patrick Henry when you need him?

  • I'll never forget the first time I saw some of the mines on google earth. really puts it in perspective when you realize the damage is viewable from space !

  • Right on, Danny. It's hard to believe. There is nothing that people won't do for money...

  • Great song, didn't know they destroy your mountains like that.....what a shame...

  • Thanks Guy. The pursuit of money is a disease, and my country is very badly infected with it...

  • Great work Archie! Thanks for spreading the word. Beautiful song! NAncy

  • Thank you, Nancy!

  • That's just an outstanding song.... My Fav folksinger does it again...

    Alex...

    Post the lyrics please?

  • Thanks Alex. If I get time, I'll post them.

  • 5*^ Awesome song and performance. Thanks for sharing. :-)

  • Thank you, sir!

  • Great song and subject, you can't believe it could go on in U.S.A. in this day and age.

  • Thanks man. They're in direct violation of clean air and clean water regulations, but they have senators and governors on their payroll...

  • Powerful song! This could be the backdrop for the movement!

  • Thank you, brother.

  • Goes to prove the faster way isn't always the best way. Mine the mountains the old way more jobs for blue collar workers. Saving the mountains for future generations. Maybe the rich owners will have alittle less. They will live. Keep up the work contact any one you can Politicians actors singers ect...to voice and get the word out more make the media show whats going on.

  • The rich don't own our country. They just think they do.

  • Didn't know such a thing was happening, but I guess these days, it doesn't surprise me. Very sad indeed.

Good song, and I hope it brings more awareness to this terrible practice.

  • Thanks John! There's a lot of information about it and a great music cd at the website I posted.

  • Very good song for a importend thing!

    5 Stars

  • Thanks a lot, Tom1

  • Great Song Archie!!! Thats Nuts Man About The Mountains..We Gotta Learn to Leave The Planet and The Animals Alone!!!!

  • Thanks Carl. It's a hard world of trouble...

  • Well done, Archie. Keep up the good fight.

  • Thanks a lot, Raymond.

  • Inspiring tune. My new favorite of yours.

  • Thanks, and thanks for the video...

  • Good for you for working hard against this horrible practice! Your song is wonderful and I bet you could get air play on local radio stations. I cannot believe the practice of mountaintop removal is permitted anywhere in the world. Uncaring idiots make these rules. They have no respect for anything.

  • Thank you, Suze. I've been trying to find some time to record it. I guess where you live this is a real concern for people. The Coal Country movie moved me to tears...

  • Gracias, Richard, Change can't come from the government, brother, it can only come through direct action by the citizens...

  • alos...nice covered wagon;)

  • That's one of Erin's yard sale treasures!

  • no place to run or hide...

I hear the best way to move a mountain is to have just a little faith...I bet that kind of mountain moving has nothing to do with destruction...Satisfying the "bottom line" has nothing to do with faith, but with fear.

Great song Archie...Thanks for Your CaringHeart:)

  • You have it exactly right, Michael.

    Thanks.
