@TheBlinkisback09 Our snare is tuned tight on the top and moderately tight on the bottom. Do a search on youtube for "snare tuning". There are some great tuning videos out there.
@TheBlinkisback09 I can't tell you an approx tension but I can tell you that it is pretty tight. Where your shell dips in on the bottom is called the snare bed. It is supposed to be there.
I thought this was a ride cymbal... And for everyone wondering whether it cracks easily if it hadn't cracked by the end of this video it's probably not going to crack.
@wannabenj Either this cymbal or the Z Custom Mega Bell Ride (but that ride has waaaaay too much overtones if you really want a ride that cuts through)
its a traditional finish, and yes it does affect the sound. brilliant finish tends to make a 'glassier' sound compared to the traditional which makes a dryer sound
It won't crack if you hit it like Travis barker does to his... If you play it properly with a couple of beatings here and there, it will last a long time. But IF you are considered a "hard hitter" every time you play, then I think the extra $60 would have been your best bet.
has this cymbal ever cracked for anyone im just wondering because i just bought one but didnt get the protect warrenty for like 60 bucks so do you guys think it is fine
this or the 20 a armand ride. i need a good crash ride cause i play open handed like billy cobham and it is difficult to get a main crash in position.
I hate the high pitched ping you get from some rides and I also don't like rides that: when you play as a crash they sound messy and way too loud (possibly because they're two heavy),
This ride is EXCELLENT! Bow is good, bell is good and the crash is FANTASTIC! Suprisingly the crash sounds better than some other 20", 21" Crash Cymbal. Damn my dream cymbal :D
Every single drummer in the world's goal is to have a ride cymbal that sounds as good as the Rev's. Wait, that's impossible, his ride cymbals is only made in heaven.
@joshuachan56 I saw a video of him recording almost easy, and he also used those rides with the huge ass bells. I saw one at the music store today, I love the ride bell.
THE BRILLIANT FINISH IS ALOT MORE METALIC SOUNDING THAN THE NATURAL. I TRIED BOTH AT THE STORE, AND THE NATURAL FINISH WAS FAR BETTER, SMOOTHER, AND SWEETER THAN THE BRILLIANT. KEEP THAT IN MIND WHEN BUYING THIS CYMBAL.
@PlanetDrumLtd As long as you don't abuse it, it will be fine. If you swing from the dressing room and beat the crap out of it it, like any cymbal, it will eventually break.
@IAmJeffHardyMan Yeap. The sizes, tips, wood or nylon tips, all play a roll in how it sounds when you hit your cymbal. They make it lower pitched, Higher pitched, More pingy, less pingy, More washey, and even less washey.
@HighWayToHell2 Ehh, not really. You can tell just by when he rides on it. The stick definition is smooth. It isn't as piercing, and therefore loud, as say a rock ride. hope that helped.
i dont care what anyone else says. the cymbals that you play in these videos sound the same in real life. after watching your videos i bought a sweet ride for a crash/ride
So the snare is a Yamaha 14x5.5 Brass Snare Drum with die cast hoops? I've been looking for this snare, but the closest I can find is a Yamaha 14 x 5.5 Brass Nouveau Snare Drum; is this the same snare used in so many of your videos?
This is a beautiful cymbal. The Traditional has a slightly louder ping and louder bell than the Brilliant. It is relatively thin but with the proper hitting technique it should last awhile. Of course, I'd recommend buying from Guitar Center and getting the Performance Guarantee. It gives me a piece of mind for two years on all my high-end cymbals
WOW this ride sounds so much better than the traditional finish ride.. im officially in love with it.. and im a guy that likes his rides with a lot of stick deffthis one is really nice i might just get it as a crashind ride
Has anyone ever been blessed with the change to try this with a Sabian AAXplosion 18"?
I currently have a 20" Giant Beat which is too fragile for my playing style.
This might be the successor of the Paiste.
