  • he also dose fire alarm stuff

  • crazy to think that the siren is generating enough vibrations to move that shroud, surely enough they're pretty heavy by themselves without the motor.

  • 1080p, bueno

  • Skip to 1:22 seconds to hear it go off.

  • cisco IL has one that is very rusty and has HORIBBLE!!! bearings and is in route for replacment

    location;

on top of old grain elavator

  • maby it spins bec its happy :)

  • Does this siren use a diffrent tone for tornado warnings, fire calls, and medical calls?

  • @kentfirealarms same tone for each type of call/warning actually.... this is the sound of my upbringing haha

  • isnt the siren supposed to turn? it would make sense

  • @25Yankeesfan Nope! It's an omni-directional siren which means it projects sound in all directions 100% of the time. A uni-directional siren, for example Charlies Thunderbolt 1000T, rotates so it can project the sound.

  • @crazywarriorman o ok i think there are a few of those sirens in my town

  • That's right folks! Take a close look at the world's first rotating Federal Model 5 siren!!!

  • i love sirens

  • i love sirens

  • spinnneeeeeeomni!!!!

  • this makes i dog's howl like crazy

  • It's a rotating omni-directional siren.

    Business opportunity! ;)

  • Needs to tighten the shroud

  • Why does the siren have to slowly stop. Can't they just silence it?

  • @claytonjaros this is an electromechanical. electromechanical sirens use a motor and an impeller with slots cut out if the side of it. when the impeller spins, it creates momentum and it keeps the momentum. When the power for the motor is turned off, then the momentum of the rotor and impeller slowly dissipates as the rpm slows down. To silence this siren, you will need to cover the intake, no air in intake=no sound

  • Rotating Omni?? HMMMMM.....

  • Siren starts at 1:21 mark.

  • it spins

  • TOP EYE BOLT IS MISSING.

  • Rotating omni-directional. Never has a joke written itself so beautifully.

  • My dad used to work at a volenter firefighter compony and he said thay use one of these siren's and that he think's that thare used to be a Thunderbolt thare but thay removed it. He also said that thare was one of these at the Corthouse in his home town and he sead quote "that thing was loud!," you cold heare it from my grandmother's house and she live's about 15 minite's from town!

  • Hahaha, the sirens like "You spin me right round baby right round!"

  • at least others can hear it because it was rotating 360 degrees

  • sounds like the tornado siren in my town. it went off a couple times saturday night, we had a lot of tornado warnings.

  • hey charlie, are those activation tones at 0:28?

  • i thought the sentry was dicksons only siren

  • @lildil39485 In the city limits, yes. Dickson County (the actual county not the city) has a total of 3 sirens (excluding mine). Two Model 5/7's and a Sentry 16V1T-B. Soon they are supposed to be installing even more sirens.

  • Siren starts at 1:23.

  • Did you really need minute an twenty seconds of silence in the beginning? Jesus Christ, learn to edit.

  • I did edit the video..

I edited the video so that you could hear the radio in the FD when the EMA first came on to turn on the city's sirens. Then after that a siren in the distance comes on, then this one starts up. Originally the video was about 10 minutes long.

  • Do you have more sirens than Brownsville, Tennessee?

  • I looks more like a Model 5. What's the difference between that and the Model 7?

  • Model 5 has a 5 horsepower motor and the Model 7 has a 7.5 horsepower motor

  • lol, I was going to say, "I didn't know that the rotated..."

  • that *they* rotated

  • I love sirens! I'm a big siren nerd.

  • @rnbsteenstar mee toooo!

  • question im trying to get permission to do this how did you because i got a whlen vortex siren for my b-day and i use it but not out side i live in a small town but how di you get permission i really want to know

  • HAHAHAHAHA! Love the spin!

  • AHHH TURN IT OFF!!! ITS SCARY!

  • You know you say in the description that they are used for fire and medical calls whats that mean. Is it like if they need a fire engine they sound the siren??

  • To "eliotsmithgt". You're probably young enough to not remember a time that didn't exist without cell phone's or the cell phones predecessor the pager..........How do you think Volunteer/Reserve Firefighter's and Emt's would get called to the Fire House? Either a phone call was made to a Watch Dispatcher inside the House or a Pull Box on the outside of the House would be pulled to sound the Alarm. Which meant the person sounding the alarm had to stand by to tell the Volunteers what was going on.

  • HAHAHA! I never thought I'd see a rotational model 7!!!!!!!!!

  • @TroySundt I was just going to post a comment like yours!!

  • it spins they should fix that

  • Thats REALY loud!

  • Geeze, the wind-downs on these things sure do take forever.

  • you know these are tests? well how do they no they are working do they get somebody to report back to them after?

  • Yes they are only tests. They go outside after the sirens are activated, listen for them, then say over the radio "Oh yeah I hear 'em loud and clear!" At one point in this video before the siren sounds you can actually hear them say "Loud and clear" over the radio.

  • that is so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • well ah ah ah you

  • That would be scary if the housing fell off. :)

  • Burns, Oregon, uses this same model.

  • Trying to Rotate?!

  • doesn't look like theres an eyebolt on the top to hold the shroud, that might be ur problem

  • Rotisserie Style Model 7!

    Nice video Charlie!!

  • they should put some christmas lights on that things! lol

  • Wow! Another great video, Charlie.

I love that close up on the chopper. :)

  • Only thing is, you can't see the chopper real well in the video :(

I sure seen it myself though, odd that it didn't turn out as well on the camera!

  • Oh.

  • Cause thats held in place.

  • A rotating 7! Gotta love it! Whats to keep that thing from flyin off...if it were on long enough wouls spin like a top, and WOOSH away it goes! Would hate to be driving by and have that hit my caR!

  • That's so funny! They really need to screw that in!

  • "after a failed attempt by Federal Signal... The world's first omni directional rotating siren"
