  • you sounded british from the start

  • Comment removed

  • I love american chicks !! Not bad attempt, but you slipped abit into Aussie sounding

  • We don't have posh accents -_-

  • americans are shallow and ignorant why bother trying to understand them

  • in england we talk english... and its our language... if your gonna say we talk different to you, them i wont let you speak it anymore... OK!

  • British accents arent posh.

  • Not bad at all. I've always felt that people attempting English accents tend to sway towards the so-called Recieved Pronunciation', but it's not uncommon for people to speak like that. I speak with a cross between a, one might call a, sort-of posh accent and a Suffolk one, an interesting mix stemming from my country background, which tends to have a lot of both.

No, there is no British accent, but there ARE British accentS, plural. This is just one of many. Glasgow, West Country, RP etc...

  • fail

  • actually not bad!!

  • That was pretty good, I prefer your attempted English accent to your real one, it sounds really nice. The American accent creeps back in at points, but having a variable hybrid accent is also cool and rare. Also, don't listen to these cynical morons saying you didn't do it right, they're just people who can't speak properly.

    1.08 - 1.13 is perfect.

  • that is not how we talkkk we arent posh im from britain AMD I DONT KNOW ONE PERSON THAT TALKS POSH real british sounds more like american than it does posh !! you all dont get it

  • why dosent anyone do a irish accent.:D

  • That's actually pretty good, but if you came round my area speaking like that you'd get your head kicked in, lol.

  • yeah im british and i dotn sound even close to this

  • For pointers - there's no such thing as 'The' British Accent. There are British accents - which comprise of the English, Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish. You are attempting a southern English. Yours isn't too bad, you sound like an English person who's stayed in the USA too long - or vice versa!

  • @white43 and manx the isle of man is in britian

  • @xoSARAHoxXP Actually no it's not. Britain is an island comprising of three countries(Scotland,England,Wales). Other islands, such as Man, Guernsey, Jersey, Shetlands and Scilly surround it. They are self-governing British Crown Dependencys, not Britain OR the UK.

  • Why u speaking in an Australian accent??

  • not bad, still a twang of american accent coming through.

  • very close

  • Huum ! If I were listening to this lass talk I would have assumed she was an English lass having spent a month or so in The States.

  • us brits dont have posh accent we have a quite relaxed accent

  • Theres no such thing as a British accent

  • ENGLAND, NORTHERN IRELAND, SCOTLAND AND WALES! 4 countries. and Harry potter is not a proper accent. come here, and you'll be murdered for being posher than the queen.

  • ENGLAND, NORTHERN IRELAND, SCOTLAND AND WALES! 4 countries. and Harry potter is not a proper accent. come here, and you'll be murdered for being posher than the queen.

  • @MsJennieDuke Hi, I know what you mean as it does sound more British but I can hear sounds that are edging towards the Aussie phonetics. The vowel sounds, depending on the regan/area sound like they have an element of Australian.

  • very good!

Its very hard for americans like myself to do an english or british accent, but you did very well! I just sound ridiculous whenever I try an english accent haha

  • Very good! Best one I've heard so far! The only tip I would say is the vowel a is not quite right in places.

  • sounds middle class home counties English. quite convincing :-)

  • There is no such thing as a "British" accent... Britain is made up of four different countries. You have English (many different ones), Northern Irish, Scottish and Welsh accents.

  • why an american would want to speak with a silly british accent baffles me....

  • This was quite good but it did sound like you were trying to be posh and a lot sounded Australian. I admit I'm quite critical as I am one of those who picks up accents naturally so I often wonder why people can't hear what they're saying lol, but baring that in mind yours was pretty good for an American person (because the sounds are so different).

However good it was or people saying it was, I'm glad you posted :D it's nice to hear people having fun and joining in.

  • Thats similar to a lot of the accents in Cheshire, and in the posher parts of the South aswell.

  • There is not a british accent you dont get people from scotland sounding like londoners or people from the north west of england sounding like people from the south west!!!!!

  • oh my days!!!!!! there is no such thing as a BRITISH ACCENT!!!!!!!! although heather kudos to you probably the best surrey/SE english accent iv heard from an american!

  • sounds a bit like a posh british person whe's been staying in australia. try a cockney accent lol

  • Sounds way too posh... look up 'scott mills' or 'Chris Moyles', or even Chris Evans? Yeeeah! Rather! (lol)

  • You pinned it down pretty well. It sounds a little OTT but if I didn't know you were British, there's a decent chance I'd be fooled for a pretty long time.

  • okkkkk, now do a yorkshire accent or something cos that's still english but we don't all speak like upper-class noobs :)

  • No offence but the switch from the put-on accent to your normal accent is not that noticeable.

  • you're ok. but still a bit posh and you are saying youtube wrong. we saying it like youchube not you toob. lol

  • Not bad actually sounds rather like a Surrey accent that is a bit posh

  • It was all pretty good until you said can't instead of carn't.

  • Does no one in America understand that there is no such thing as a British accent? It's like saying that there's a North American accent.

  • how many of you americans know that britain contains more than one country?

  • Great Britain is a country.

  • yeah, i phrased that wrong, sorry

i meant that it isn't just england, which most people refer to as a country anyway

  • Yeah I know what you mean they don't do the Scottish, Welsh and Irish accents, which do count as British accents.

  • Great Britain is a united contituant.

  • haha, good attempt at a british accent, well done:) i myself do speak posh type of english but not all of england speak posh we have different type of accents, i was wondering if america had alot of different accents because you all sound the same to be honest i cant tell the difference lol

  • lol well said thats what I think, they all sound the same. no offence to them though just saying.

  • Very good impression indeed. Well done.

  • we dont speak posh like that, i dont get why all americans think we do |;

  • why have i only just found this!!?? your accent is ace! seriously impressed!!! well done! ~bella~

  • uv practised hundreds of tyms and stil not tha gr8 lol....sum words sounded bit australian

  • u sound australian!

  • Good stuff - as long as you are enjoying yourself ignore the negative comments.

    Alice. x

  • i dont get this - us british do not have POSH accents ?

  • @MissSummerBliss no we dont if Americans actually walked on the streets of somewhere like london they would be shocked

  • @MissSummerBliss Some do but we're a long way from the pronounced BBC accent everyone thinks we have, and even further away from the ridiculous Dick van Dyke attempt at a cockney one (cor blimey, Mary Poppins etc... pretty poor)

My accent is a sort of cross between the one she's using and a stereotypical Suffolk country one, ie close to what one might term a 'posh' one with a couple of 'oi's instead of 'i's thrown in, I just grew up around people of different accents...

  • @MissSummerBliss It's the same the other way around- we don't all sound like valley girls.

  • @MissSummerBliss Unless you come from the 'posh' part of London. I hate the fact that Americans call it the british accent. When are they gonna figure out that there are about 100 different accents in the north-west alone?

  • yes we can tell ur american lol :)

please dont do this accent again :]

  • That's pretty good. haha

  • i respect you for trying but please dont think that a british accent automatically means upper class english i men we have a welsh, scottish and irish accents and accents in all of thoes countries are different in different townsjust like a nothern american's accent is different from a southern american accent. but i respect you for having the guts to try

  • too posh

  • A good attempt. However 'English' and 'British' arent exactly the same thing; thats a common mistake.

    Anyway thanks and regards

  • i think its absurd that americans want to imitate british accents. whats the point?

  • You know why? Americans sound like shit. We sound bland. Brits, or anyone pretty much, sound better than we do. All accents around the world, people sound melodic. Americans, we sound like...........that.

  • I don,t give a rats ass what Americans think of British accents.

  • Comment removed

  • i come from the north of england and we couldnt get more different from what americans and australians think we sound like :) I love the accents they make me smile,,,, i would love to see someone attempt a northen accent :)

  • wow you got game! i was convinced that you're a brit pretending to be an american trying to speak in british. good job!

  • you sound australian in parts

  • im british by the way so i would now about the different accents! is okay.. when u start that it. but then you slip back into american again

    you do the 'uuuummm'

and the 'annnnd' and the 'buuuuut' all in american by the way!

you need to keep them shorter

    x

  • same here-from england, americia shold just stop trying- no offence but they cant do it.

  • rite there with you americans have american accents

btitains have british accents. why copy?

  • i'm british too. i don't understand the point of imitating britosh accents?

  • blakelewis1996- Just a bit of fun. Its harmless*

  • You're a fine lump of a girl. I was in Manchester last July and I didn't have a clue what they were saying I could figure out one or two words in every sentence. South UK accent I can understand but the further north you go the less chance you have of understanding what they are saying.

  • weh im from manchester

  • im from the north of england and i can understand y u couldnt understand much lol

  • the accent is kinda brit but the slang is not.... but ur on the way

  • good try... but my cousin is british so I go there alot so I know what one sounds like.

  • ugh this sounds crap

  • You Americans never learn do you? You just CAN'T do British accents. You spend too much time watching Harry Potter and listening to the Queen to know what a British accent really sounds like.

  • we dont fucking tlk like that u twat ffs it pisses me off when ppl tlk like that and say its british if i heard some 1 from were i live (britan) tlk like that a would drop em

  • hello hottie!

  • nice :)

  • You have way too much free time.

  • your speaking australian we dont speak like tat wre not posh

  • FFS!!! u fukin yanks theres more than one accent,YORKSHIRE,manc, scouse, brummy, west country, cockney, loads more theres welsh n scottish but i dont know the diffrences but i bet there as diverse as accents in england,YOU wer speakin upper class n if u go to england but yur a yank so you'll probably just visit london where it will still be hard to find someone speaking upperclass visit north of england YORKSHIRE especially

oh yeh THERES MORE THAN ONE ACCENT IN U.K!!!!!!!

  • Good try! im from london, but i dont speak like that! only a small percentage speak like they're the queen!!!! LOL! keep trying!

  • poor

  • your hot,but your british accent attempt is poor, stop it.

  • lol ive never heard anyone try a gloucestershire accent, and they're the easiest to do

  • lol 'oive got moi trac'or and moi steck'

  • good attempt. I think quite often, when american's do british accents they come out quite austrailian. but a lot of it was good. and yeah there are a lot more accents than that in england, but i think that one is the best anyway :) lol

  • stop smacking your lips please please please!! [ the mwuah sound while you're talking in between words]

  • listen to british and dont presume there posh acherly speak how they do not POSH

    posh people speak posh

  • Eww...that was offensive! British ppl don't speak fucking posh like that. Why don't you look up 'Kidulthood' on yt? Quit why you're ahead.

  • actually, where I live, they do actually speak like that lol

  • try Mancunian accent

  • Actually not that bad....for an english accent but what the hell is with you yanks and harry bloody potter.

  • lmao xD

That wasn't bad, but very few of us actualy speak that posh, just old people lol.

I have the British accent were I don't always pronounce T's, but I'm not a cockney lol

Why dodn't you try a norther English accent, like scouse or geordie xD

You probably don't know what I'm talking about lol

  • or yorkshire :D x

  • Yep, or even welsh or Scottish, that's also British =)

  • HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

As soon as you started speaking, I couldn't stop laughing!

I don't think we Brits speak that posh, but it was a good try!

  • we don't speak that posh!

Tbh the majority of people who do speak that posh just sound like they put it on tbh.

  • I always see videos on youtube of yanks doing "british accents" and find it odd because there are no videos of brits doing american accetns. Probably because we don't carreeeeeeee. Leave us in peace for goodness sake. We are not posh, our accents are not strange. I mean at the end of the day Americans speak English... so basically they are just Brits who can't pronounce words correctly.

  • There is NO such THING as a BRITISH accent.

  • Brilliant attempt, but the vast majority of English people don't talk like Hermione! Emma Watson is extremely well spoken and doesn't have a regional accent. But your video is fun!!

  • is it possible for your sister to be only 6 months apart???

  • nice try at the accent you sounded just like my girlfriend lol! cheered me up alot seen as im depressed atm because iv got to go bak in2 service in the 7 Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery in a week :(

  • sounds kinda australian

  • Ive heard worse, nice attempt :)

  • omg that was well good, you actually sounded English =D

  • Try to sound less posh but nice one lol.

  • its alright.

but also because your american when you do an english accent some words will sound australian. but yeh its pretty good :D

but i wish americans would work out that english people do not talk posh!

    lol :D

  • lol o dearrrr NO english people sound like that haha well they do but its like oxford and thats it every were els threes regional accents

  • hey british assholes....hello!

  • lol its a cross between australian and british. good job tho!!!!!

  • Yeah that's an Australian accent. ;)

  • Bloody bloody bloody, right okay that was very good and would be passable for like a collage studant or interlect in the UK. I never say bugger cos thats nauty, cheers!!

  • If I met this lass in the street and she spoke to me, I would - quite reasonably - have assumed that she was English.

  • lol that sounds more like australian accent. Well it's not quite bad but still LoL

  • Lol is there really a British accent, because if so, i wana hear it. Itd be a cross between english, welsh, scottish, and irish.

    That'd be screwed up

  • cute not bad too

  • wow the accents are so different

when you said "im gunna speak in my own accent now" i didnt expect it to be that different. lol

yeah im from london and your accent is pretty good :D

  • you get together for his birthday...

  • Haha, nice try Heather. That wasn't too bad. It obviously wasn't perfect but it was a good attempt, and yeah, you do sound very Australian in smoe parts (but I love the Aussie accent too lol so dw).

You and your sister are 6 months apart?!? I'm assuming that's half or step.

I'm going to upload my own video of accents soon. I can do English, American, Scottish, Welsh, NZ, Australian and Canadian. I can do a few others too, but those are my main ones.

Also, accept my friend requst please :D xx

  • USA USA!

  • Yeah... that's a bad English accent.

  • you still sound american trying to be british lol... "oh my gosh"

  • Well she is an american try to be brittish.

  • it's actually awful.

  • Haha, you sound a little like Bridget Jones! XD Oh man, I hate our accent, I adore your guys'! ^_^

  • lol i luv british accents!! they are so aawsome, i would so trade you lol

  • i like how americans think that the english always talk posh

  • I love the way Americans Think every body in England talk like Harry Bloody Potter ! There are So many Regional Accents Such as Black Country From the Dudley Area,West Country From Devon n Cornwall, Scousse From liverpool, Geordies From Newcastle, East Anglian, London, Home Counties, Manchester, Yorkshire & Many more! They are all Different, Like Alabama Vs NYC ! Come over for your Holidays & Hear The Differance

  • i think americans automatically do this video because its easier 2 do than the 'normal' english accent cs its wt they here all the time...it ws alrite tho

  • its not bad to tell you the truth

  • lol, to be fair I think the reason americans like speak posh as an impression is because of films, they are mainly like posh like hugh grant or cockney like Michael caine or whatver.. but yeah try a fucking northern xD

  • Listen Mayte...we really dont talk lyk dat. I dont understand y all u americans fink we speak posh. the only person dat speaks lyk dat is the fucking queen.

  • It's because that's usually all we see in movies and tv shows. Most of us don't know English people to base our accents off.

  • You're an embarassing representative of our country. Learn to type properly you moron.

  • Who U Tellin 2 Type Properly Coz It Aint 2 Clear?

  • Haha, that's irony on show right there!

  • hey, your pretty good, its just well, we dont say darn it! or oh my gosh much, we pretty much say, oh my god/goodness , and oh shit/crsp nd stuff lol

    byebye

    x

  • God i LOVE american accents......

  • Really, I think our accents are annoying. Especially the Boston one. That's the most annoying one ever.

  • That's really funny, because I'm from Boston. Although, I never did pick up the accent much.

  • You sound more australian actually

  • your're beautiful

  • That was pretty good even though most of us don't have that accent! See if you can do one like Charlie or Naomi from Lost, that's a more "real" accent.

  • That was quite good. Like a stereotypical 'posh' English accent, but apparently a lot of British people doing an American accent sound sterotypically 'southern' or 'valley'.

  • good attempt!

  • I Agree .. Why Do You Think We All Speak Posh Or Like Harry Potter We Really Dont

  • lol probibly for the same reason y'all think we sound like hicks or vally girls....thank you Hollywood *rolls eyes*

  • Haha aw this made me smile :).

Good attempt. I don't understand why Americans think British people are so posh.

I don't think we are posh at all! x

  • well we rarely pronounce the entire word. words get cut in half and twisted around and pretty much screwed up. :P

  • Lol good attempt but you sounded all posh x most people don't sound like that lol x ( I can't say anything - my american accent sucks) haha :) good job =]

  • u got "love" and "hundred" right!!

  • Hey, haha, it was funny listening to your accent, it wasnt very good, but funny lol! im english, and u sounded more australian to me.

p.s, the kind of accent you're trying to do is very posh, and only the queen, and a few others talk that way lol.

  • If you lot stop calling us tea swilling royals we'll admit you're not all redneck bastards.

  • I think your British accent was better than average - well done!

    And sweet.

  • Nice video, but it was a bit posh, We don't all talk like the Royals. x

  • IT IS NOT THE ACCENT THAT WAS IMITATION OF BRITISH pronunciation NOT THE ACCENT!!!!

  • aw your so sweet. its really good x

  • For not being very good at it.. I thought that it was good.. && i think its kinda funny that you celebrate Harry Potters birthday..
