Not bad at all. I've always felt that people attempting English accents tend to sway towards the so-called Recieved Pronunciation', but it's not uncommon for people to speak like that. I speak with a cross between a, one might call a, sort-of posh accent and a Suffolk one, an interesting mix stemming from my country background, which tends to have a lot of both.
No, there is no British accent, but there ARE British accentS, plural. This is just one of many. Glasgow, West Country, RP etc...
That was pretty good, I prefer your attempted English accent to your real one, it sounds really nice. The American accent creeps back in at points, but having a variable hybrid accent is also cool and rare. Also, don't listen to these cynical morons saying you didn't do it right, they're just people who can't speak properly.
that is not how we talkkk we arent posh im from britain AMD I DONT KNOW ONE PERSON THAT TALKS POSH real british sounds more like american than it does posh !! you all dont get it

For pointers - there's no such thing as 'The' British Accent. There are British accents - which comprise of the English, Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish. You are attempting a southern English. Yours isn't too bad, you sound like an English person who's stayed in the USA too long - or vice versa!
@xoSARAHoxXP Actually no it's not. Britain is an island comprising of three countries(Scotland,England,Wales). Other islands, such as Man, Guernsey, Jersey, Shetlands and Scilly surround it. They are self-governing British Crown Dependencys, not Britain OR the UK.
ENGLAND, NORTHERN IRELAND, SCOTLAND AND WALES! 4 countries. and Harry potter is not a proper accent. come here, and you'll be murdered for being posher than the queen.

@MsJennieDuke Hi, I know what you mean as it does sound more British but I can hear sounds that are edging towards the Aussie phonetics. The vowel sounds, depending on the regan/area sound like they have an element of Australian.
Its very hard for americans like myself to do an english or british accent, but you did very well! I just sound ridiculous whenever I try an english accent haha
There is no such thing as a "British" accent... Britain is made up of four different countries. You have English (many different ones), Northern Irish, Scottish and Welsh accents.

You pinned it down pretty well. It sounds a little OTT but if I didn't know you were British, there's a decent chance I'd be fooled for a pretty long time.
haha, good attempt at a british accent, well done:) i myself do speak posh type of english but not all of england speak posh we have different type of accents, i was wondering if america had alot of different accents because you all sound the same to be honest i cant tell the difference lol
@MissSummerBliss Some do but we're a long way from the pronounced BBC accent everyone thinks we have, and even further away from the ridiculous Dick van Dyke attempt at a cockney one (cor blimey, Mary Poppins etc... pretty poor)
My accent is a sort of cross between the one she's using and a stereotypical Suffolk country one, ie close to what one might term a 'posh' one with a couple of 'oi's instead of 'i's thrown in, I just grew up around people of different accents...
@MissSummerBliss Unless you come from the 'posh' part of London. I hate the fact that Americans call it the british accent. When are they gonna figure out that there are about 100 different accents in the north-west alone?
i respect you for trying but please dont think that a british accent automatically means upper class english i men we have a welsh, scottish and irish accents and accents in all of thoes countries are different in different townsjust like a nothern american's accent is different from a southern american accent. but i respect you for having the guts to try
You know why? Americans sound like shit. We sound bland. Brits, or anyone pretty much, sound better than we do. All accents around the world, people sound melodic. Americans, we sound like...........that.
i come from the north of england and we couldnt get more different from what americans and australians think we sound like :) I love the accents they make me smile,,,, i would love to see someone attempt a northen accent :)

good attempt. I think quite often, when american's do british accents they come out quite austrailian. but a lot of it was good. and yeah there are a lot more accents than that in england, but i think that one is the best anyway :) lol
I always see videos on youtube of yanks doing "british accents" and find it odd because there are no videos of brits doing american accetns. Probably because we don't carreeeeeeee. i think americans automatically do this video because its easier 2 do than the 'normal' english accent cs its wt they here all the time...it ws alrite tho
lol, to be fair I think the reason americans like speak posh as an impression is because of films, they are mainly like posh like hugh grant or cockney like Michael caine or whatver.. but yeah try a fucking northern xD
Listen Mayte...we really dont talk lyk dat. I dont understand y all u americans fink we speak posh. the only person dat speaks lyk dat is the fucking queen.
That was pretty good even though most of us don't have that accent! See if you can do one like Charlie or Naomi from Lost, that's a more "real" accent.
That was quite good. Like a stereotypical 'posh' English accent, but apparently a lot of British people doing an American accent sound sterotypically 'southern' or 'valley'.
Lol good attempt but you sounded all posh x most people don't sound like that lol x ( I can't say anything - my american accent sucks) haha :) good job =]

lol, to be fair I think the reason americans like speak posh as an impression is because of films, they are mainly like posh like hugh grant or cockney like Michael caine or whatver.. but yeah try a fucking northern xD

It's because that's usually all we see in movies and tv shows. Most of us don't know English people to base our accents off.

God i LOVE american accents......
NewEvoTime2007 3 years ago
Really, I think our accents are annoying. Especially the Boston one. That's the most annoying one ever.
trekfan92 3 years ago
That's really funny, because I'm from Boston. Although, I never did pick up the accent much.

You sound more australian actually

your're beautiful
nicejimleeds 3 years ago
That was pretty good even though most of us don't have that accent! See if you can do one like Charlie or Naomi from Lost, that's a more "real" accent.
paulyofcanaria 3 years ago
That was quite good. Like a stereotypical 'posh' English accent, but apparently a lot of British people doing an American accent sound sterotypically 'southern' or 'valley'.

good attempt!

Good attempt. I don't understand why Americans think British people are so posh.
I don't think we are posh at all! x
smophies123 4 years ago
well we rarely pronounce the entire word. words get cut in half and twisted around and pretty much screwed up. :P
writerchick94 4 years ago
Lol good attempt but you sounded all posh x most people don't sound like that lol x ( I can't say anything - my american accent sucks) haha :) good job =]

Hey, haha, it was funny listening to your accent, it wasnt very good, but funny lol! im english, and u sounded more australian to me.
p.s, the kind of accent you're trying to do is very posh, and only the queen, and a few others talk that way lol.
