so very glad to have discovered Kim Richey...found out that she wrote many of the songs I have loved over the years...what a talent! I can't wait to see her in concert some day! I can't believe she's been right here all this time.
Will never forget the day I first heard this song. Fell in love with the song and. . .that voice. . .just as pure as the driven snow. Kim, you'll always be one of my tip top favorites.
LOVE this song. Saw her at Greatwoods in Mansfield, MA a looong time ago (1990's) - she opened for Mary Chapin Carpenter. Trisha Yearwood was also there. Such a great show!
I hear this song constantly..I drove down 95 from Maine to see my dad 1 last time our words were wonderful always have been now he is my angel..in heaven..this song is not always have to be sad...I look at it this way...those words he said...were wonderful....I hear so many songs that remind me of him...daddy dont walk so fast and thats my job....he will RIP he was my father dad and best friend..needed to get away..to better my life because I told him I would and because of him..I am awesome!
I always thought that between Kim Richey and Bobbi Cryner, it was all anybody ever needed to know or hear about female country singers. Both of them were just wonderful. Nashville has it's head way too far up it's nether regions. That's why we don't hear more out of these two girls.
@unionfiddler You know Bobbie Cryner AND Kim Richey? I like your taste in music. Bobbie's "You'd Think He'd Know Me Better" is still one of the greatest heartbreak songs I've ever heard. Here's another "girl singer" you'd like - Jill King. Her "Jillbilly" album is chock full of true country music. Cheers!
I have loved Kim's stuff forever. Her first album was hooked up to one of those headphone devices letting people listen to the record before buying. I couldn't skip this song to sample the next one...I had to hear it all the way through. I only heard a little of the next one and that was it: I was sold! Been loving her every since. And she's excellent live!
I love this song. The first Time I heard it Trisha Yearwood covered it. Kim does an excellent job in keeping with the original intent of the song and I like her version.

This is clearly one of the most beautiful and haunting songs of the past 50 years.
It should have went to #1 on the Rock, Country and Pop charts.
Thanks a million for posting it.
