noobs...! if the cryengine 3 weren't better than 2, why is it called 3? stop the war against pcs and consoles: i'll stay the fact: pc= machine with wich you make THE GAMES YOU PLAY ON CONSOLES. it has customization for the graphics, so you can max it out SERIOUSLY. Consoles= EMULATORS of the pc, because in those you ONLY play games made WITH THE COMPUTER. of course pc is better, but the engine rests the same. pc has a little more of it, but thats it! stop now!

CryEngine 2 and 3 are different. 3 has a more stylized look, and is more vibrant. Cryengine 2 has a more gritty realistic look. I prefer Cryengine 3. I feel more immersed in the game with it, mostly because the lighting is so much smoother. This is because the rendering has been unified, allowing it to be faster while sacrificing a little precision and detail. Also, Cryengine 3 actually runs nicely on my GTX470. Cryengine 2 is still a little laggy in areas.

Crysis 2 game area are extremely small and buildings/cars have a really little number of polygons. Crysis have big maps for an FPS and hundreds of high polycount models on the map. Sorry but your argument is stupid, crysis 2 runs smoother not because of unified render, it's because there's 100x less models on maps and a lot less particles FX.

That isn´t true. The polycount on most objects in Crysis 1 wasn´t higher than in Crysis 2 or let me say the same level. You should proof that in the Sandbox Editor.

If you take the head of the Statue of Liberty in the Sandbox 3 editor, you also see relatively high poly models.

this representation of sony bravia is is fake, why? because the bravia version is actualy just a commercial using REAL props, its a flatpannel TV commercial which actualy used real balls, its in Guinness world records for using the most PROPS, not computer generated, with the cryengine (soon CryEngine 3 will be out) the graphics are in realtime and much better.

@bahramOG: That's because all the stuff you see on consoles is prerendered, static or faked. Everything in Crysis is calculated in realtime, and it is VERY GPU intensive. Neither the 360 nor the PS3 have fast enough GPU's (to max it out at an HD resolution on the PC takes one or more of the highest end graphics cards). Sure it may eventually appear on consoles, but unless they redesign their engine around faking techniques, it won't look like that.

Porting is obviusly difficult to a underpowered pc like console (I'm talking about RAM, CPU Chache, other ram caches for error handling, and so on).

Developers have to choose a middle way between graphic elements quality and the game itself quality (I'm talking about efficient mode of programming).

In a certain way it's like to re-write half of the engine to create a console version of it. For the group this translates in spending more with minor entries.
