As long as we practice paying for things with money we don't have, there will be problems. But, if you can horde the resources, then you can get enough people eating and under a roof that it appears to be a somewhat alright system - one that will occasionally have some crises that has to be paid for with taxes, with bail outs, through cheating. A dysfunctional system is one where every time you plug one hole, a leak springs somewhere else... and we're rich enough to keep that up at a good clip.

Naomi and Amy. You sort of get it but are failing to articulate. This is because you are speaking under the wrong heading. This is a "Crime Enforcement Crisis". Stop talking about this in the context of economic policy or financial crisis. Those are the symptoms of allowing hardened criminals to be in charge of making decisions. There will be no "recovery" until they are all locked up. Obama promised to. He lied. Now he also needs to be tried.

Economics does rule the world. Choice looks stupid unless you deny the US is deeply hegemonic towards capitalism, war, and consumerism and so-called positive thinking. The property argument was ok when you could rape nations and point to some facilities built to facilitate that rape, but now property is practically strictly the vehicle of social control unless you're rich, who are what is actually the bourgeoisie, *not* the middle class, an order to buy rather than an imperative to innovate.

If you go right wing you're talking your own companies returning as conquerors, freeing your system. I just think people on the ground should make local economic plans for their own welfare. If they look they'll find the necessary expertise, so why isn't grassroots movement of a sort where you go to your leaders and say "Here's what will help the economy here" and set a plan before him not more in play? Remember again this is the age of the internet, disinformation can be prevented.

I think we shouldn't second guess. Let's be organized and make ourselves a constant presence. Obama sez the change comes from him, he has to work with people that will be respected by the existing powers in the biz world. We can only wait and see.
