  • Can you drive these in urban area's? like if my dad bought one could he pick me up from school in it ;D

  • @CharIiePresents You can indeed! Even if you couldn't, it's not like anyone is going to try and stop you :P

  • @Oldschoolmetalnrock Ahahahaha right time to nag my dad to buy a tank >:D

  • @CharIiePresents completely road legal . They even have a horn :D Not that you can here it over the engine..

  • I'd love to own one of these eventually. Maybe in 4-5 years like bugga hopes. Just a quick question, does the Spartan have rubber pads on the tracks like the FV432?

  • @DCTriv

Hi Triv yes they do have rubber pads in the tracks, on a 432 these are bolted on so they can be replaced as individual items. They are moulded into the track on a CVR(T) so when the rubber is worn down, the track is more or less knackered. Tracks last around 3000 miles on normal road surfaces.

  • @Oldschoolmetalnrock Thanks for the answer. That's a shame to hear, I imagine that would be a pain. Is there no way to bodge the rubber pads onto the tracks yourself?

  • @DCTriv A friend did discuss getting new ones moulded but it would probably be far more expensive than just going out and buying new track which is still relatively available, when they get hard to come by I'm sure someone will start moulding new ones, I'm not sure I'd fancy driving along at 50mph on bodged up track :P

  • @Oldschoolmetalnrock Just how much do new tracks cost anyway?

  • Truly, I'd sell my worthless Yank soul to own a Spartan!!

What's the regs on the cupola MG? It's a FN Gimpy 7.62mm, correct?

What's the regs on the cupola MG? It's a FN MAG 7.65, correct?

  • @rattinox

Hi, yep that's about right, this is the L7A1 GPMG which is basically the Brit version. Truly this vehicle is the most fun we've ever owned, get saving and you never know, you might be able to one day. Better open a separate bank account for the fuel too.....

  • @Oldschoolmetalnrock Hey, maybe I can just go print off some $ like our Gov't does.....:))

  • @rattinox Sounds like a pretty good plan!

  • @Oldschoolmetalnrock I've got a budget for my OWN personal Defense spending.......

  • @Oldschoolmetalnrock I've got a budget for my OWN personal Defense spending.......

So, now, some Theme Metal for your vehicle:............ Judas Priest. Gotta be. One: "Got Another Thing Comin" Two: Turbo Lover OR Three: Breaklin the Law ?????

  • @rattinox Too right! Or indeed Saxon, 'Wheels of Steel' :P

  • What do you pay for insurance and would a fv432 be any different?

  • @jitzero Hi the insurance is about £150 per year including recovery, I imagine that a 432 would be similar to insure although the numbers of them on the road now is dwindling as technically they are not allowed to be used on the road unfortunately, due to being too wide (over 2.55m) and only having one braking system which acts for both steering and braking unlike the CVRT which has seperate systems

  • @Oldschoolmetalnrock thx for the reply i was looking at the sabre at first but at almost 3x the price as the fv432 i decided to look into the fv but if there not road legal its not quite the same fun

  • would heartily suggest thinking about wearing crew helmet during operation chum!

  • Hi mate yep I'd say about 3-4 to the gallon, it should be near enough exactly the same as a Sabre, at the end of the day it's basically the same vehicle but with the APC body on. The Spartan is a few inches longer overall but they're identical in most respects, thinking of getting one?

  • @Oldschoolmetalnrock ye i wouldnt mind mate ;) Think i best buy a field around here first tho! :O Do you do all the work yourself? Because im not really that mechanically minded haha

PS. sorry for the real late comment

  • @63bugga Get yourself a tracked vehicle license and go have some fun on the roads! Yep all work is done by us, to be honest most jobs are fairly easy on it. If you have a forklift etc it makes it very easy because you can lift the engine or gearbox straight out for any repairs. Most track/sprocket/roadwheel maintenance is actually easier than doing work on the hubs of wheeled vehicles. Great fun! The fuel consumption is the crusher, at 3mpg anywhere over 10 miles away puts a dent in the pocket!

  • @Oldschoolmetalnrock Brilliant, giv it 4 - 5 years ill have one hopefully then :) be great fun! thanks alot for the info mate, Probebly need to pick your brains nearer to that time! thanks again, matt

  • what does it do to the gallon mate? and would it be close on what a cvrt sabre would do?

  • nice pal :D !!
