  • Peter Cushing was a famous dolphin right?

  • Peter Cushing was never knighted? That's a travesty!

  • He was so cool.

  • A great man and a great actor that is sadly not with us any more. ;-( If onl we could go back in time.

  • If only Cushing had lived to play Tarkin in Star Wars III...

  • @360Nomad yes because if he did, he would have starred in another movie with his friend Christopher Lee.

  • Indeed - I feel that Peter played Peter across all of his roles - but this does not detract from his acting skills and his ability to hold your attention. By all accounts a true gentleman as well. Pity there aren't more like him today.

  • Peter Cushing’s contribution to Dr Who gained some (long overdue) recognition in The Nine Lives of Doctor Who published in 1999, it seems that he enjoyed his time as the Doctor and of course it helped him obtain other similar roles such as appearing in Space 1999. His role as Dr Who remains tremendously popular almost 40 years on. Thank you Peter for all the pleasure you gave us.

  • @mikeismad61 Hear hear. He practically plays the Doctor again in "At the Earth's Core", even wearing a similar costume.

  • @gazhack would you please what movie it is at 1:40?

  • @92af I'm pretty sure it is "She" starring Ursula Andress.

  • @gazhack I know, but I realy ment at 1:39, what movie is that?

  • @92af I'm happy to be corrected on this but I think it is "Tales from the Crypt".

  • great clip , i love the man and he reminds me of my grandad . also the first time i herd the theme from schindlers list. great piece and very apt

  • PETER CUSHING,a TRUE LEGEND,in BRITISH HORROR MOVIES.

  • But... Why the song from Shindler's list ?

  • Happy Birthday, Peter (26 May), and RIP.

  • @SPeacock My birthday too! :D

  • Happy Peter Cushing day, mate ;D

  • Peter Cushing was much better than Marlon Brando was

  • There was nobody quite like Peter Cushing. From terrifying villains like Dr. Frankenstein and Grand Moff Tarkin to heroic characters like Van Helsing and Sherlock Holmes, he was always such a joy to watch. Still greatly missed, yet fondly remembered.

  • Cushing steals the scene every time. He could make a bad film absorbing.

  • anyone know if any copies of his performance as Mr Darcy still exist?

  • Very fine actor, and a lovely gentleman.

  • Peter Cushing

-Killed Dracula with a candle stick holder

    -Blew up Alderan

-Has been at the Earth's Core

    -Killed more vampires than Buffy

    -Outsmarted Moriarity

    -Verbally bitch-slapped Darth Vader

Does anyone think that Chuck Norris can top that?

The world has lost one of it's best.

    R.I.P Peter Cushing

  • Peter Cushing was a superb actor, I particularly liked his villainous turn as Baron Frankenstein in Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed.I don't think there was one film I didn't enjoy his performance in.

  • Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, there couldn't be a cooler acting couple.

  • ok question; i can`t seem to find a particulare peter cushing movie its about demon that rape`s woman the movie starts with a librarian that gets attacked,

no one knows who is the one doing it because seprize seprize the demon is a female peter and his daugther and one woman are all thats left, when he go`s out to look for the demon his daugther gets attacked the woman say`s she did not see who it whas untill peter sees her reflection in the mirror and the movie ends there.

    whats the name.?

  • This is so cool thanks for the video I'm related to him

  • He was absolutely brilliant. He played evil masterminds with great class, without any sign of spoofs or caricature. He also portrayed good and brilliant characters against evil forces. He was a true gentleman and. His acting was very keen, very moderated, very down-on-earth. There was a great sense of humanity in his acting. It was a pleasure to see him. He played clear-headed man of Enlightment. He was a man of reason. Peter Cushing should be taken as an example for young generation of actors.

  • Mister Cushing, thanks for everything ! Cinema will greatly miss your talent...

  • Peter Cushing - the actor's actor. RIP, Peter. :(

  • Most actors are a disgrace these days doing drugs, racial abuse and other crimes they normally get away with which doesn't set a good example for young people. Peter Cushing was always polite and never showed any superiority over anyone just great talent.

  • I was devastated when I heard the news about his death. I can still remember as if it were yesterday. RIP.

  • YAY!!! A great man!!!!

  • It is unfortunate in some ways that Peter Cushing was cast almost solely as a "horror" actor, as he was man of real acting talent. And could have done so much more. It was really good to see him have a prominent role in one of the most popular and revolutionary movies of it's time: the first StarWars movie.

  • He was wonderful as a villian, don't get me wrong, but he still has that kindly face about him...I just wanted to give him a hug =p

  • RIP Peter, sorely missed.

  • My all-time favourite actor.

However sad his passing, let us not mourn.

He is now reunited with his beloved wife Helen, of whom he had waited to be with for so many years.

Two hearts, two souls, reunited in Heaven.

    God bless Sir.

  • @ffjkhguhgft That was a nice thing to say. I was moved by it

  • @ffjkhguhgft Christopher Lee and Peter were close. In Lee's bio,he tells of their last meeting and they sang a Jimmy Durante song together.Lee misses Peter,Boris and Vincent.

  • @HattieLovesCattie I like the story Lee tells in his autobiography of the closest time they got to an argument. It was during the unhappy filming of "Horror Express", a film beset with mass food poisoning and a disorganised international crew. One day Lee ranted to Cushing about the whole miserable time he was having. Cushing simply said "Well it's no use complaining about it now." But to Lee even this mild admonishment felt severe because it came from a friend who was so polite.

  • Peter Cushing was totaly better than Cary Grant was

  • I was so upset at the time when I learned of his death...

thank you for this wonderful tribute who touched me so deeply.

  • Nice to see after all these years he is still remembered. He was my fovorite actor all my life. He will live long through his roles for all of us to enjoy. I cried when he passed. We lost such a great person and an actor that day. I would like to think he is smiling that warm smile he always had.

  • He really gave life to his characters.

  • My wife and I went to Whitstable last week, and the small museum has a corner devoted to him, the people are still very proud of the man.

He should have been SIR Peter cushing!

  • thanks for posting this, i still think he is the best british actor, and met him during a book signing in taunton somerset, a place he remembered in his autobiography. still sadly missed.

  • As far as I can find out: a true gentleman who had the manners and courtesy to put effort in to ANY role - regardless of the script!

  • Thanks for posting this tribute. I too remember it being on telly when he died. Seeing it again brought a lump to my throat once more. He is my favourite actor of all time and I count myself very lucky to have met him once, quite by chance. His reputation as a true gentleman is no fantasy; he was utterley charming.

  • peter cushing was one of those guys who you couldn't hate, carrie fisher even stated it was hard to stay in charecter during star wars and act disguisted to cushing's charecter because he was such a nice guy RIP

  • I saw this tribute when it was originally shown. It made me feel quite emotional. I was and still am a fan and admirer from childhood. Good to see this gentleman is still appreciated.

  • Peter Cushing was totaly better than James Mason was

  • Great actor...

  • I agree. A great actor ; we will not see his like again....and we are lesser for it.

  • Peter Cushing was unique in that I enjoy every film he Was in. He had unique acting range from the strong Van Helsing to his bumbling Doctor Who portrayal.

Cushing, Lee and Price were my childhood heroes and still are.

  • I second that sentiment, 92af, A fine actor and gentleman, I miss him sorely and never even met him.

  • I wish that Peter Cushing still lived

  • Peter Cushing Is The Greatest Actor Ever.

  • let me know if there is a good collection of DVD movies out there that I can buy.

  • Best ever.

  • Peter Cushing is my hero too.Back in home country Brazil he is a legend,he and Cristopher Lee made the world loves England.

Great actor either at Van helsing or Hamelet roles.RIP Peter we will always remember you.

  • I am just learning about Peter Cushing, and what a great actor he was. I recently caught him in two horror movies during halloween, and I was so impressed with him, I started reading up on him. It appears he was not only a great actor, but a devoted husband, a good friend and decent human being. I would have liked to have known him. I wonder if he ever had any children. God Bless and those he loved, forever!

  • I don't think he did have any children, thats why he did the Doctor Who and Star Trek movies cause he thought kids would love them.

  • Star Wars. Although, had he been in any of the Star Trek films, that would have been cool.

  • That what I meant

  • He was a fine theatre actor, too, playing alongside Sir John Guilgud in Hamlet. He was also a fine watercolour painter and wrote and illustrated a book for children.

  • REST HIS SOUL....A GENTELMAN.

  • very good to see peter on ebay i met peter in whitstable in 1968 and again in 1969 in his home i was friendly with a young man who was very ill it was our intention to see peter while i was there i took some 8mm film of him mowing his lawn in his garden which i have still got yours keith

  • I recall this as though it were yesterday. What a sad loss Peter Cushing was. He was quite peerless and, despite making only two productions, provided the best portrayal of Doctor Who to date.

  • My childhood hero! I cried, as an adult, when my father told me he had passed away.

  • A great man. Bless his heart.

  • He was the best of the hammer horror films. sorry i mean he was the hammer horror films

  • lovely tribute to a British Gent - sadly missed.

    atvmidlands UK

  • he was just so fab

  • The man portrayed a real sense of nobility, compassion and integrity which shone through in thos performances he gave and in the blink of an eye could assume the persona of a cold dispasionate unstopable force. In all his performances though his proffesionalism never wavered and you genuinely believed every word that came from his lips no matter what the situation he was in.

  • I miss Peter Cushing soo much

  • me to

  • A great actor at Christopher Lees site.

    They was a great team.

  • Editha - This isn't Christopher Lee, ken?

  • Lee fell a tad too early!

  • RIP to a great actor - there's not many from the 'old school' left now

  • He's still is my favorite actor.

  • Dont be sad you had the honour of knowing him

  • miss him

  • it makes me cry when i see this, we wrote to each other often before his death and he kindly signed both of his books for me, greatly missed and an underrated actor!

  • i watch this with a tear in my eye wishing that all people could be as polite and gracious as this (gentle)man , then maybe ,just maybe ,the world would be a better place ....

  • They really don't make them like this anymore. One in a million and a true gentleman

  • I met Mr. Cushing in the mid 1970's. A very nice man indeed and one to be missed. We discussed of all things, our love of Laurel & Hardy (he was in "Chumps At Oxford").

  • This is so sad I was born in 1994

  • legend and one of the finest actors of his generation

  • Hail Grand Moff Tarkin ^^

  • What film is the clip at 1:10 from?

  • It is The Ghoul (1975). The first film Cushing made after his wife's death, bringing extra poignancy to his widower character.

  • Thanks for the answer. :)

  • The first film he made after his wifes death was "Twins of Evil" 1971

  • Hey gazhack what movie is that at 1:20?

  • That is from the 1954 BBC adaptation of George Orwell's "1984". Peter Cushing plays the hero Winston Smith and its one of his greatest performances. Its sadly still not on DVD but I notice it has been uploaded to Youtube. Search for 1984 Peter Cushing and you'll find it.

  • @gazhack This looks truly heartbreaking! I will look out for it.

  • @gazhack what movies is it at 0:31? 0:33? and 0:45?

  • Adding to that... the picture he looks at is reportedly a photo of his own late wife, Helen. Most of that scene is probably himself rather than his character...

  • A wonderful, wonderful man. Thank you!

  • la verdad que unos de los mejores actores del cine de horror de todos los tiempos, marco una epoca que es imposible de olvidar, junto a vincent price son iconos del terror.saludos

  • A wonderful actor and by all accounts a thoroughly nice man. *Raises glass*

  • a great man

  • Just a stupid general observation: there's that old saying of keeping a stiff upper lip. And like a "good" British gent I suppose he did! For it seems like, to me, that while he spoke he chiefly moved his bottom lip, while keeping the top one hardened, in home position. I suppose it's sexy in a way. You move your top lip too much and you start to resemble a chipmunk.

  • One of the great British actors.

  • I remember reading a review of the movie VAN HELSING when it first came out. The critic touched on other actors who played the part....when he mentioned Cushing, he wrote, "...the GREAT Peter Cushing". And rightly so.

  • Does anynoe have a working torrent link to "The Creeping Flesh" film?

  • what a wonderful English gent this man was. the world is a lesser place without dear peter.

  • A legend and a gent x

  • Thank you so much for sharing this. Peter is a legend.

  • He was a good actor.

  • It's a good few years since I've seen this little televisual gem, and I'd forgotten how touching it is. Thanks with much sincerity for posting this on YouTube.

    To Peter Cushing...

  • It's brilliant to see that the BBC gave Peter Cushing such a thoughtful tribute. Very moving as well.

  • Thanks so much!!!! The great Peter Cushing, forever my idol. A gifted legendary actor and a gentleman. I´m afraid there aren´t many more of them around, unfortunately. So thanks again, this is a very moving tribute.

  • I'm pretty sure it's Schindler's List. I'm glad folk have enjoyed this clip. Thanks for your comments.

  • Thanks for posting it. It is a great tribute to Peter. This music, wasn´t it soundtrack to Schindler´s List from John Williams?

  • Genius like actor and a gentleman out of the screen. An example for the new stars that think are gods. The best Van helsing and Dr Frankenstein of the History. For ever on our hearts, Mr. Cushing.

    Thx 4 the post

  • This makes my cry everytime!

  • It's...awesome. Thank you!

  • Thankyou

  • That was really nicely done. Kudos, and thank you

  • Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, two of the greatest British actors ever!

  • Yes!!!

  • I love him so much. Thank you.

  • A great actor. They don't make em' like this anymore.
