  • Anyone notice the announcer said Cousins was under a blitz when he wasn't?

  • It can also be called "circus"

  • @bdawgs9623 that was only what the play was called by Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl. The play itself is a hook and lateral.

  • my teacher is the guy to the camera mans right in the camo pants XD

  • that play is called the blair white project.....

  • Comment removed

  • michigan state cant do it like bsu otherwise he would have scored

  • i was 3 rows behind the iowa bench with tickets my family one in a raffle and i am a state fan, the game was bitter sweet

  • THE TRUE CORRECT TERM IS HITCH AND PITCH...

  • OMG 0:28 THATS MY TEACHER IN THE CAMO PANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Iowa still won

  • As a BSU fan, that looked REALLY familiar :) lol

  • @KesterBros nobody cares about your stupid Busch League school. If Wal-Mart had a college football team, it would be Boise State. Don't comment on anymore Michigan State videos. See you in 2012.

  • I was there....best game of my life until the last second

  • most devistating game to be at....

  • The correct term for the play is "Hook and Lateral". The initial receiver runs a "hook" route and he in turns "laterals" the ball to a teammate.

  • There's no route on any passing tree (pro or college) called a "ladder". .

  • yes there is it is sometimes referred to as a chair route also it is when a receiver starts up the field then cuts across before continuing up field

the announcer even says hook and ladder in the clip you posted

hey dude im not trying to correct you just pointing it out who gives a damn what its called its a sweet ass play

  • lol you're an idiot. anybody that refers to it as hook and ladder is mistaken...it is hook and lateral, first coined by Don Shula with the Dolphins. There is no ladder route, and the chair route you talk of is an out and up route, only instead of running up the field, the player "sits" and comes back to the quarterback.

  • @EAPlayMaker dude its called a hook and ladder.

  • @EAPlayMaker The ORIGINAL name of the play IS "hook and ladder". Lateral just came about because it sounds similar (much like "shuffle pass" for what was first dubbed the "shovel pass").

  • @EAPlayMaker some coaches call it a hook and ladder, bt the term is rarely used. its usually called a hook and lateral, or circus.

  • @EAPlayMaker It's called "Hook and Ladder" after the fire engine of the same name. It doesn't strictly make much sense, but neither does the "Statue of Liberty" play being called that.

  • @kruttypa Where do you get ladder from on that play. HOOK route AND then he throws a LATERAL. Hence, hook and lateral.

  • @kruttypa /watch?v=04oQ9JjOoJk

  • @EAPlayMaker why is it always the teams from the state of michigan who are screwed over by refs

  • @kruttypa No hes one of the few people that have it right

Its a Hook and LATERAL, their is no such thing as the hook in ladder

  • @kruttypa your stupid as fuck. its called a hook and lateral.

  • from a hawkeye fan, that took balls. michigan states effort in the alamo bowl against an athletically superior texas tech team was great and really speaks to the character of the core of your team. you pulled every play in the playbook and nearly won. be proud of what was accomplished and i look forward to a very tough michigan state team next year

  • @westfootball32 Ha, MSU fans and Iowa fans really seem to get along. Thanks, and you guys were awesome in your Orange Bowl win.

  • i think thats because we never really are elite...we both have good years and bad years, so i guess we can relate to each other lol

  • @westfootball32 Too bad that was the only game we didn't show up to this year. Sorry to be a letdown. lol.

  • @thekodajay09 lol its ok...michigan state and iowa kid of switched roles this season...big downer

  • amazing.

  • absolutely sick play brilliant. BUT THEY CAN'T KEEP IT TOGETHER FOR 2 SECONDS DAMNIT!!!!!!!!

  • It's too bad that didn't go in for a TD. What a great play. Ya, Boise did it before... so have many other teams in the past - but that doesn't take away from the incredible nature of it actually working!

  • In fact this play did not work as intended. After the ball is lateraled and turned up field, notice the second player (#22) running down the sideline waiting for an option pass. There is supposed to be a second pitch/option pass on this play.

  • #25 who took the first lateral is supposed to drift back in towards the hash mark as he is running up the field to draw the safty towards him and allow for more room to pitch the ball a second time. However, the safty tackles him very close to the sideline and there was no room for the pitch.

Watch #25 quickly look for the option man. Not sure of he thought he was actually in front of him or what, but for some reason he decided not to pitch it a second time.

  • or maybe he is just there to throw a block if necessary

  • im a hawk fan

i honestly thought that was the game

the spartans are a tough squad

  • I like Hawkeye fans for the most part. Very classy. Good game.

  • Nice play! It won you the game, didn't it?

  • It didn't, though it wouldn't have been surprising if it had. Iowa scored a counter touchdown on the very last play of the game. It was a really scary moment for Iowa fans though,

  • Should've won the game. We lost with 2 seconds left on the clock ;(

  • Great play, but boise st - your not!!!!!
