Chrono Cross is one of the greatest RPGs i've ever played, if not the greatest. Same goes with Star Ocean 3, Dark Chronicle, FF10 (all final fantasies inclusive for that matter) and many others. I had the liberty of playing Chrono Cross before CT and to be honest, Cross takes the cake with ease. Trigger was good but I couldn't get into it as much as Cross. People only complain because they didn't get an exact replica of Trigger. Cross had variety, which Trigger didn't.
Again, with variety comes less sole character plots and stories, but each character in Chrono Cross was unique and had its own feel and special moves and that made mixing and matching good fun. The story in Cross is sweet and the music is by far the best thing that my ears have ever heard (besides the noise of me cranking over porn - Ohhh yer).
This game is wonderful. The music is great, and no other game sounds like this, the settings are..absolutely stunning, And my favorite part of all? The dread and anticipation as you finally reach the location you saw in the dream...
And then it happens. Serge speaks. It is at that moment that you realize everything has gone so terribly wrong. And it is a great ride.

@DARKSAMUScorruption2 Chrono Cross' plot is a direct result of the events of Chrono Trigger. The whole point of Cross' plot is to undo the plot of Trigger and to subvert the idea of fighting FATE (literally).
The implication in Cross is that many of the characters of Trigger are killed because of those actions. Lucca is killed by Lynx, Marle and Crono are killed by Dalton during the Porre invasion. Robo is the Prometheus Circuit, and he is destroyed during the course of the game.
Do you know if the DS remake of Chrono Trigger is the same as the original? As far as story goes anyway. Cause I've just played the DS CT and was about to begin to play CC...

The DS re-release contains all of the bonus material from the PlayStation port, such as the anime-style cut scenes by Akira Toriyama, as well as other enhancements that connect Cross with Trigger (Dream Devourer for one). There's a more accurate translation and better naming schemes. Frog's "Olde English" accent is replaced with a more normal accent. That sort of thing.
Basically, in the original Chrono Trigger you didn't have the anime cutscenes, or most of the connection to Cross (Schala is never seen again after the Palace collapse). Frog more or less speaks in "Ye Olde English - Have at thee, knave!" sort of way. Two of the extra dungeons - the Lost Sanctum and the Dimensional Vortex - are not in the original.
Chrono cross was the biggest piece of shit game I've ever played... The battle mechanism was crap, the leveling system was crappier and the whole game was just impossibly full of shit!!! I hate those huge fags who called this a sequel to Chrono trigger just to make ppl want to buy this garbage...

A large amount of the Chrono Cross story, comes from an expansion of that game. Its called Radical Dreamers. It is a direct sequal, and it *DOESNT* use the Chrono name, at all.

I've played cross, FFX and FFVII, persona 3... I´ve played other snes games like secret of mana or lufia... i've played newer non J RPGs like fallout 3, mass effect and dragon age, but... I couldn´t help it, i simple got bored and quit most of em. Is there something wrong with me? When I was 8 years old, I had no idea how to outfit my characters, my element grids were poorly setup, but somehow I got all the way to Dark Serge, but couldn't beat him. For some reason I started a 2nd save game, and saved over that one by accident. I stopped playing this until it came out on PSN. I am so glad I played it again, easily one of my favorite games of all time. This and Ocarina of Time are in the top spot.
@SinisterSnake Kinda, they reference stuff that happen in Chrono Trigger and some characters make a appearance in it. They are my favorite games that have came out yet, I highly recommend playing it.

Still so epic 10 years later...it's something special, how this video manages to make you travel to the past, back to when you first played it, and how you thought "Holy shit, I had no clue the PS1 could do that!" But what's even more special is that no game intro has managed to come close in almost 12 years ;)
It's amazing how this game can affect you. When I played I was about 7 years old and I barely knew english by then! Even so, this game has been the best for most of my life, surpassing even The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, A Link to the Past and Chrono Trigger (which I played only on NDS, a couple of years ago). It's amazing... I barely understood what they said and came to adore this game.

I was beyond stoked when I opened the PSN store to find that Chrono Cross was now finally avalible in the US....I was then less stoked to find out that I was 7 cents short of being able to buy it, and had to get another $20 psn card in order to do so lol but it's more then worth it I f*cking love this game I just watched the intro again tonight and I could already feel my childhood comming back, the hours on end I spent playing this as a kid...can't wait to do it all again.
5-6 years ago, when I have PS One, I went to the only shop in my town where I could find Playstation's discs. They were rather expensive, and the boxes with two discs cost as 2 boxes with 1 disc. I doubted between purchasing of some horror-game (good graphics, 2 discs.. I don't remember) and purchasing of Chrono Cross. At last I'd bought the second. I wasn't very happy but when I'd started playing, when I'd heard this music.. It was amazing! Even now it's my favourite game! The game of my soul!

and square killed chrono by being lazy, fans have been begging for chrono break for years. along with kingdom hearts 3 and a ff7 remake, but they are to busy with pointless garbage spinoffs.

When I was 8 years old, I had no idea how to outfit my characters, my element grids were poorly setup, but somehow I got all the way to Dark Serge, but couldn't beat him. For some reason I started a 2nd save game, and saved over that one by accident. I stopped playing this until it came out on PSN. I am so glad I played it again, easily one of my favorite games of all time. This and Ocarina of Time are in the top spot.

Still so epic 10 years later...it's something special, how this video manages to make you travel to the past, back to when you first played it, and how you thought "Holy shit, I had no clue the PS1 could do that!" But what's even more special is that no game intro has managed to come close in almost 12 years ;)

It's amazing how this game can affect you. When I played I was about 7 years old and I barely knew english by then! Even so, this game has been the best for most of my life, surpassing even The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, A Link to the Past and Chrono Trigger (which I played only on NDS, a couple of years ago). It's amazing... I barely understood what they said and came to adore this game.

I was beyond stoked when I opened the PSN store to find that Chrono Cross was now finally avalible in the US....I was then less stoked to find out that I was 7 cents short of being able to buy it, and had to get another $20 psn card in order to do so lol but it's more then worth it I f*cking love this game I just watched the intro again tonight and I could already feel my childhood comming back, the hours on end I spent playing this as a kid...can't wait to do it all again.

5-6 years ago, when I have PS One, I went to the only shop in my town where I could find Playstation's discs. They were rather expensive, and the boxes with two discs cost as 2 boxes with 1 disc. I doubted between purchasing of some horror-game (good graphics, 2 discs.. I don't remember) and purchasing of Chrono Cross. At last I'd bought the second. I wasn't very happy but when I'd started playing, when I'd heard this music.. It was amazing! Even now it's my favourite game! The game of my soul!

elder scrolls is so over-hyped, as with most new games these days. all about graphics and killing stuff, no real substance. only new games i liked are Metal gear solid 4 and the witcher 2. the witcher 1 was kinda bad. the witcher 2 was amazing.

Now I own one a copy of each available edition: black edition, greatest hits, Japanese original edition, Japanese re-release, Japanese Millenium Edition, etc. This game is one of the top RPGs of all time!

Mr Shinji producering some big game that become CC rivals. I really doubt he would support sequel for CC. I never play CC rivals such as FF IX or VIII that Mr Shinji producered. But i think i know what lack of FF IX and VIII, they don't have emotional bound like CC got ( FF VII maybe have it but it's not mr Shinji project ).

@Ba2kach There are die hard fans and there are newbs. The newbs don't realize that Chrono Cross is the third game and unless they pay attention or play Radical Dreamers they will no understand how it ties in. There was going to be a fourth game, but it was shut down, unfortunately.

This is definitely my favorite opening to a game ever. Even the music.
I dont know if its just me.. but i always thought there was something magical about 2.10. I don't know what it is.. that smile. It seems so true and warm and kind. Every time i saw that smile, and i have seen the intro ALOT of times, i would always get goosebumps, in a good way.
I still have to get the 'best ending''. After a huge 3 month break.. its time to settle this.<
