During the time Seles was Number one Graf beat her THREE TIMES. Seles won FOUR . So she had a SLIGHT EDGE!

Graf even was capable of beaitng the newer generation in including Hingis and Davenport and WIlliams who had SELES On the ropes. !

Overall Seles led by a marginal 3-2 in grand slams over graf. Graf led 2-0 in other tournaments while Seles was rankd 1.

Have you seen a Thomas Muster becoming Number One ? He did didnt he? Seles was of the same league. She gt lucky Graf was out of form, and had the stabbing not happened, Graf would have eventually overtaken her.

I was just wondering why certain players have success against others while losing to others. Edberg had a good/solid record against most top players (including Lendl, Becker and Sampras) but struggled with Agassi and even Courier. Lendl totally dominated those, but was pretty much even with Becker, while Agassi did OK with Becker. Very confusing. Agassi had success with Edberg because a twist/kick serve never bothered him (ie Rafter). Agassi struggled with Fed/Sampras served much more.

Why did Lendl have such an aversion to coming to net. His GS Final losses to Becker, Connors and Wilander can be directly attributed to letting his foes take control of the net. Lendl had arguably the biggest groundies in tennis history, but he never finalized those groundies by coming to the net and finishing off the point. Can you explain why Lendl and his coaches never addressed this issue?

With this I have to agree. Lendl was a work in progress when he first turned pro. He consistently got better until his body gave out on him. Mac's game was set from the first match on. Lendl got better and still got to the finals of Wimbledon.

Lendl retired due to injuries....bad back and hand. I saw his last match at the US Open when he lost...his movement was terrible. He was about 11 years older than Pete and had been through the wars. When Pete retired he was beat up as well.
