Hey, me and my freind are really curious and into this device. Can you demonstrate some of the actual recording capabilities of this device and maybe upload it. It is, for all, a pvr and is a big selling point... We would be happy to see how recording works and the standard def quality of the video. I don't even care if you record yourself playing Wii Sports tennis.

Mine freeze with Xvid files, randomly loses HDMI signal and cant be upgraded because a bootcode issue that Mvix cant fix remotely, they ask to send the unit back !

This is a piece of crap and customer support really sucks, dont buy anything from Mvix, be adviced !!

People don’t buy it. It is not worth the money it does not work properly freezes on every file, or you tube file, does not have a clear set up guide on the bit torrent download needs a lot of software fix up but they are not doing anything to fix it!

Do note that this device DOES NOT PLAY BD-ISO files. They advertise that is plays all video files and it does not. Too bad.

there are lots of boxes like this in market now days, but this one is little bit better but it is expensive I wouldn't pay $169

I already have one of these, it is awesome. My wife and I have well over 500 movies on a 1TB hard drive.

Can i record from my tv with this?

I watch anime shows in mkv format, does this box display the subtitles in their original format, font, and colour (as intended by the fansub group) as it would display on the computer or does this box display the subtitles in its own format?

I ask this because my wd tv live displays the subtitles in a format/font chosen by the wdtv live itself, and NOT the original format/font as it would appear on the computer.

@psx411 it supports subtitles in different languages, but I have not tested different fonts so I'm not sure.

@PCWizKid If you have the spare time, can you test to see if the font/format displayed on your PC matches the font/format displayed by the box. It would be easier to use an episode of a recent anime encoded in mkv format such as ``full metal alchemist: brotherhood``

@NerdyBeep you use the torrent utility it has to download from any torrent site you define.
