BEWARE , 135i is dodgy @100mph. I can let go of 928GTS or 944T or M3 wheel and it drives itself. 135 has little downforce, sits high on 18", steering is loose goose compare to M3, 911, 944, 928, M Z4, B7, 550i. 335i are less loose than 1.
19" M6 replicas would help cure both 1 & 3 with ground control Adj springs.

i've driven my 03 maxima @ 115mph(107 mph based on navigation) and people in the back didnt even notice it and car was 100% stock, no fuss no muss, no shakes no drifting to the side.
that was on the way back from Niagara Falls in Michigan
We hit 170mph traveling to Indy 300 in Kansas in SMG conv M3. The side mirrors and wiper blades did not budge, the wind was quite with top up of course. My 944T does that 110mph in 3rd gear. I like Maxima, but not top end, let me out please
@euro944t yeah, but you're comparing a grossery getter to a sports coupe.
now i have 03 manual max after a school buss hit me head on this past December, i dont remember what my 3rd gear tops out at, but my first is 40mph, and 2nd is ~65, i suspect 3rd would be ~90 or so.
At 171.7 inches long, the 135i is 8.9 inches shorter than the 335i coupe and 1.4 inches narrower at 68.8 inches, and it rides on a wheelbase that is four inches shorter (104.7 inches). Despite the smaller footprint, however, its only about 200 pounds lighter than the 335i, according to BMWs figures. Thats because much of the architecture is carried over, including the multilink-rear suspension and strut-front arrangement.
There have been numerous dynos of the 135i running default boost and getting 310-320hp. BMW was conservative in the number and this has been confirmed by car reviewers. 315hp is a more accurate value for default boost.
put it on a dyno. All it does is measure the actual hp and torque numbers at the wheels. Doesnt increase power. like BestEver said, its tuning the computer that increases power.
Damn so it actually makes figures much closer 330hp and 340ft lbs. then. I knew they had to be lying because all of these other 300hp cars were getting smoked by it.
WOW dude, very good numbers, for about another $5-600 you can get a sweet power programer that would bump that up 40hp, a bit of money but if you can afford a 135i, whats another $5-600, i would do it, bit my e28 ///M5 would get mad
they whant to see the power at the weels so they must use the gear that has a gear ratio closest to the rotation of the engine. 4th gear in any car, has a gear ratio of almost 1, this means that the weels spin at almost the same speed of the engine and the power at the weels is almost the same of the engine(with ~10% losses ate the weels because of the transmission and dif).
not sure if internals or the transmission can handle 800whp like a supra...but the twin turbo engines made by BMW are my favorite..dare I say..even more than the m3
Yeah you're right about that. But there's way too many factors to say 17psi like that. It depends on TUNE, the CFT the turbos puts out, and the fuel taht you are using. If its a car taht runs methanol like my boys it can run that on a pretty regular basis or a car that runs on 106 octane fuel. It's more HP that kills an engine because if its running 24psi on some small T25 turbos making barely more than stock HP it can run that all day long.
True that, these are low compression turbos and I've heard honor stories from the forums already about them blowing up past 12psi. Still, it's balanced since this is a comparative large displacement motor to be turbo'ed. 3.0L plus a twin system and you get alot of instant response and power even on low 7-8psi boost. BMW motors are pretty high compression to begin with too so. I wonder what this system would look like with an upgraded single GT35R and a built forged low compression 3.0L.
that was the sc430 not the sc400.. two diff cars. 1uzfe vs 3uzfe and the sc430 looks like trash.. car lost all of its muscle when they let euro fags design the car instead of in the states where the sc was originally designed
Have you driven one? Clarkson also tore up the C6 Vette for being a harsh ride and that's one of the most "day-to-day" drivable sports cars I've ever driven. Besides, quite a few real automotive journalists thought it was a great car. I'd say make your decision after you've driven it.
ehhh, that's still a weird statment because it has no direct competitor at all. It's easy to be the best in it's class when it's the ONLY one in it's class. It's closest competitor is a 370Z which was NEVER made to be a luxury car at all, but does outperform it. So I feel like that statement hold no water based on the fact taht there are no other competitors. Except for maybe an A3 3.2 Quattro which costs 10G's less.
I have a G37 right now..which competes with the 335i..i guess performance wise the 370z competes with the 135i..there is also the sti and evo..2010 versions are coming out soon since the evo skipped 2009...are there any other cars im missing..cuz the top two cars I want to get as a next car are the 370z and 135i
Yeah it has performance competitors but no actual class competitors as in Entry-Luxury Sport Coupes. All of those other cars are just plain old raw sports cars not luxury sport coupes.
Hm, I would love to see where I compared it to a hardcore sports car. I could have sworn I said that it had not competitors because it wasn't a hardcore sports car. Reading is fundamental.
Afraid I have to agree most of the time. the r8 is lovely, but the rest of their product line is all about fancy and pretty interiors without alot of grunt to back it up. BMW has always been about function over form, while Audi has been the opposite. Even the TT and S4's aren't impressive even when compared to a mildly modified WRX STI.
Probably more like 370hp, but still hella impressive for a reflash alone. An aftermarket downpipe on this motor alone adds like 30horsepower, with coldairs adding 15. So yeah, there's ALOT of potential out of this motor even on the stock turbos.
but what? Your completely wrong. Adding a downpipe and a cold air will reduce not increase turbo lag as the system can breath and spool better. You'd only get additional lag from upgrading the turbos to ones with larger compressor wheels. I even wrote "even on the stock turbos", which seem to have alot of potential with only the supporting mods done. I think 450 crank is reasonably possible without touching internals or the turbo system.
Or alternative, bmw is underrating the factory crank HP. It is an open diff rear wheel drive, so it's does have the least amount of possible driveline loss though.
What tune did they use?

It's got two very compact (possibly ceramic) turbos. I'd doubt this car is putting out much boost at all. So no, it's just fine.
