Anette is better than Targa live on most of the old songs. Targa Sang out of key all the time live. Anette is much more pro. In the studio I like them both, but maybe Targa slightly more because her voice is more unique. Once is still my favorite album, but Dark Passion Play is excellent too.

There is one and only one bad thing about this performance: those seizure-inducing pants she's wearing. Everything else is really good. I have never heard her sing like this before. Usually she tries to belt out all her high notes, but she's not doing that here and it's working really well.

Penso che sia cresciuta parecchio da quando l'ho ascoltata l'ultima volta (più di un anno e mezzo fa). Resto comunque dell'idea che ciò che era stato con Tarja non si può tentare di riprodurre. Mi dà fastidio che certe canzoni le rifacciano lo stesso. Nulla contro Anette, ma per me certe canzoni hanno più senso solo con la voce di Tarja. Non è per chissà quale discorso sulla voce di Anette, ma solo per un valore affettivo.

Sure! Nightwish is all about lyrics and music, therefore Nightwish is basically Tuomas. But some times you connect some songs with the singers because they give something "more" to it.

Tuomas writes the notes and the words but he doesn't create the music except for the orchestral and keyboard component of the song, the rest of the band actually take his written notes and transform them into actual music, and that includes the vocalist.

It was Tarja's transformation of that ink and paper into her incredible vocals that was part of the magic. Anette is just doing a cover here, not bad, but nothing like Tarja either.

So no, NW is not Tuomas, although he is a huge part of it

Well of course she'a bit unconfident in some bits. She has never sung in her head voice for so long, she practically needs to keep singing almost the whole song in it. The area she's comfortable with is her chest/belting voice. That's exactly why I'm so impressed with her job on this song. It's like she's just starting practicing her head voice and she's already there.

I can totally understand what you mean. It's almost like a psychological thing in some way: you hear something for the first time in a certain situation, you get to love in that form, so when something changes, you just don't experience the same feelings anymore

P.S. Nighwish performed "GLS" & "Escapist" during this concert...my two favorite NW songs of all time--you guys are so lucky!!! I went to TWO US concerts hoping to hear those 2 specifically but they never played them. ;__;
