The BBC funded and made this video to promote the pilosophy behind it's origins; that we the viewer pay for it and make it what it is. It was aired on UK tv in the late 90's and such was the reaction amongst the public demanding to buy the song the BBC decided to release it with all proceeds goin to charity. For the record, Pavarotti DOES NOT appear in this song and never has done, he may have appeared in later covers but not this particular one with all the other legends.

Only Lou Reed should be singing this song. The reason for this is because, contrary to what some may think, this song is about Lou's struggle with heroin. You can here it in his voice when he sings it. With everyone else they sing it like a love song when its not supposed to be happy.
