lol check out events on facebook basically every flash mob is a public event and thier really easy to join... unsless you live in the middle of nowhere then they probably wouldent have one... but most big cities have tons of them.... and not all flash mobs are dance they can be tons of things from freezing in place to dancing...

FOX did a clever job of using a musical production in the guise of a flash mob to create buzz about their show. Adverstising loves to use social media and events to cost effectively push their product. This wasn't for the benefit of the mall patrons. Surprise surprise, huge posters unveiled at the end. What a coincidence.
