can someone please explain to me how this works? When they come into the corners, do they hit the brakes, or does the rear wheel just naturally slide out due to all the g's?

can be a lot of things first is being able to not let it slide to much you've got to have a lot of feeling in you're bike and what nicky hayden does is just magic.

but basicly they slide out the rear by down shifting (no slipperclutches here), gently using a lot of rear brake force when they come braking into the corner.

and when the bikes come braking hard into the corner the weight of the whole bike and rider is transfert to the front of the bike those reducing rear tire grip.

im thinking about getting a supermoto bike, for the road and well i was just wondering a few things about them are they just off road bikes that have road tyres because thats what they look like although i am most likely wrong :P and could you put dirt wheels on them and go off road or is there some kind of hitch? thanks if you answer for me.

@swat7853 Suspension set ups are usually different, and also sm wheels are 17" whereas mx wheels are bigger

@swat7853 Also the Supermotard tyres are usually alot wider. But I think the tyres & rims are about the only major difference, suspension is adjusted easily.

And you can tell nicky hayden is a road racer, he doesn't like getting his foot out the front~

@ilikesuzuki Really aggressive on the front brake, and you have to time letting out the clutch/and applying throttle to get the rear tyre spinning and sliding, The Aggro on the front brake will make this happen easier, just remember when it starts coming out, to be smooth on the throttle, it can get pretty ugly sometimes :P

@crash86ed It doesn't have to be out, but it helps with getting your weight forward on the motorcycle, as you are in a more central position compared to say a superbike. Also I could imagine it would help greatly if you were on the dirt section of the track with ruts and berms.

@TheStef263 Yes. Makes sense if there is a dirt section, but on the pavement I see most people just kinda putting it out to the side a bit. Not sure the exact reasons for all of it because I have no dirt experience :P

@crash86ed In ruts and berms it helps with balance more than anything, also as a failsafe if you completely botch the corner up you can stomp your foot down, so you don't get your shit owned. I race a bit of motocross, and talk to all the local champs at my local mx tracks so I know a few tricks :P. Also I have myself a superbike \m/ and I thought I was valentino rossi going around a round a bout, needless to say I brought myself to a stop using my face. (Although the MX bike has hurt worse)
