This same issue of only being able to write what the main character knows is what makes first person harder to write than many forms of third person.

First person can be so rewarding with its extra characterization, but it's hard to have everything happen where the main character can see and hear it, and it's hard for them to understand the causes behind everything that's going on around them.

I'm still a big fan of first person, however. I consider it a challenge.

Would Kurt Vonnegut be an example of writing in omniscent POV? From reading Slapstick, there alot of personal references, it's just I'm not too sure where it's coming from.
