  • I sang Brundibar opera, and before the performance, a boy sang Eli, Eli... I couldn't concentrate... The lyric is so beautiful...

    In spanish:

    "Señor, mi Ds,

    Te pido que nunca termine

    La arena del mar

    el murmullo del agua

    los rayos del cielo

    la oración del hombre"

After, I sang this song... And I can't help my tremor.

  • @Dnjdperez1974 How wonderful of you to put in the Spanish - a langue que hablo tambien, pero no mucho ahora. Pero, entiendo casi todo todavia :) Your feelings are felt here in Pittsburgh, and I thank you for writing on my post. Your friend, Rowna

  • @cantorandopera Thank's for your comment and for your friendship. Regards

  • Thank you very much for sharing your beautiful voice in such deeply moving song. Kind regards, Esther

  • @SogniAzzurri Thank you for your lovely compliment. If only Hannah were alive today to see how her words make people feel . . . she would be 89! What a loss . . .Rowna

  • I love your music - your voice is so very pure!

  • Thanks so much :)) Rowna

  • I first heard this moving song on the CD called ELOHIM (published by Galilee of the Nations in Israel). You would love the performance. And your performance is just as good, which is saying a LOT.

    שלום מאת יוחנן רכב

  • I thank you and everyone else who has said such nice things about this, very much. I adore this song. Rowna

  • My lord, my lord, I pray that these things never end.

    The sand and the sea.

    The rush of waters.

    The crash of heavens.

    The prayer of the heart.

  • Jewish and Arabic musics have nothing in common to my ears. This is a fantastic Lament of a very sensitive texture. Arabic music sounds like gypsy dance to my ears

  • No Sir,

    the boundaries are very floating.

The journey goes from Ashkenasi to Sephardi, to Mizrahi, to Jemenite and

Schwupps you are on the Arabic side.

The singing becomes in this succession more and more difficult, at least for a poor german like me.

It is just ignorance and all your eloquence will not help you here a bit.

It is like saying I love Beethoven, but I can not grasp Brahms.

    Only listening will help.

  • when I was 19 I couldn't grasp Bach, when I was 25 I couldn't grasp Richard Strauss... so I think I can expect to evolve :p

  • definitely the best presupposition.

  • the word Adam or adam means "Man" or Adam - the first man. Heart is fine in this case because it translates the sentiment nicely as well.

  • as always extremely moving

  • I love to sing this song for years now, but I wonder. I tried to trigger your attention in just this direction not a month ago. You know what your answer was.

Jewish and Arab Music is really a ocean worth to dive deep in.

  • Thank you, Rowna, for sharing this beautiful setting of the haunting Eli, Eli, as well as the tragic and noble story of Hannah Szenes.

  • Thank you for your beautiful expression of this favorite and bittersweet song.

  • From this Terrible Story that does mourn the soul, the Glory and Peace go with the sweet sing of his Beautiful voice , to the Soul and Memory of Hannah!!!

Cara Równa Thank you Very Much for sharing this Feeling!!!

  • Thank you for letting us know this moving part of the history.

  • Comme toujours emotionant..

  • Hi Rowna: Thank you, very much, for this beautiful, haunting performance, thus bearing the torch, the remnant, the sacrifice of Hannah Szenes. Doug --

  • Magnifique!

  • Merci Beaucoup :))
