I'm afraid you might have been the only 'spectator' who got offended with this demo. As for accidents, as far as I know, nothing to declare.

I would actually feel a lot safer on a plane with a pilot that has done this. This is an added bonus on his experience and I'm sure if it was unsafe they wouldn't repeat.

I'd also urge you to double check the double negatives as I'm sure you meant "lack of respect".

The pilot got EXTREMELY lucky !!! very very dumb move when he banked the airplane and the tip of the wing passed 3 feet from the ground. People, the pilot exposed his life and many other lives at this pass. Yes, I am a pilot and have many thousands of hours flying heavy airplanes.

wren460, I agree; in addition he was at the same time very low AND VERY SLOW, so he had no margin of any sort for any contingency; I even think this is what made him bank and descend more than he expected (he surely didn't plan to pass with wing tip at 3ft from ground!) - which he will certainly never acknowledge!

actually the pilot was the main airbus test pilot and his co pilot was a qualified captain who gave him constant updates on the altitude AND the aircraft went through an overhaul before the airshow so risk of failures was minimum

Let me just tell you that TAP is THE most safe airline company in the world,with only one accident with fatalities. Our pilotes are being recruted to all the major airlines in the world... Even military pilots. We truly have some of the finest pilots in the world.

I recall that there is little difference between a daring pilot BEFORE and AFTER his nearly inevitable fatal accident; hence, let's be more STERN to daring pilots BEFORE their accident (like César Brito), and more FORGIVING to them AFTER they had it (like Bud Holland).

Pelo que se sabe, os homens que iam a pilotar esta aeronave são simplesmente dos melhores pilotos Portugueses, e um deles é mesmo o "chefe" destes aviões e tem mais de 4000H só nestes aviões (A310). Em Portugal existem dos melhores Pilotos do mundo e estas imagens comprovam isso mesmo. Parabéns aos pilotos que iam no Avião e também à TAP porque acredita neles......

If this is the best pilots that the TAP has, then all of the TAP pilots should have their licenses permanently revoked and TAP should be prosecuted for endangering the lives of the spectators. I think this airshow staff should be barred from ever giving an air show. To think that all the airshow officials allowed such recklessness is unfathomable. To think of the airlines and airshow coordinators are still standing behind such disregard for safety is unfathomable.

Appraising the danger vs the usefulness of something is all about weighting and judgment. Sailing to "India" in 1492 while risky was less so than useful; risky stunts in air shows often are too, but often aren't, and safety rules are here to draw the limit; here Cap. César Brito obviously not only blatantly broke these rules but passed all limits of reasonability.

First of all, he made all the flight maneuvers in areas without spectators!! There is only one clip where the plane flye's over some spectators located in a public road, outside the airfield in quite the same way that they (plane spotters) are in almost any airport in the world. The nearest distance between plane and spectators was between 300 to 350 meters when he made the low pass, parallel to the runway! So tell me, where was the danger?

ATFSCrash has a very good point, it's dangerous, but people still gather to see the airshows, they are well aware that things can go wrong and tend to go wrong when pushed to the limit...

However I don't think thats a problem, it's a stunt, it's supposed to be dangerous

In shows that properly enforce safety: The aircraft are parked to close to the flight path. The pilot did not leave enough margin for error. There seems to be too many unnecessary personnel inside the show line. The show line seems to be too close. The Airbus seem to overfly spectators too lowly while maneuvering, ect......

Bud Holland was a pro too and made these guys look like monkeys. Him and his crew are dead and millions of taxpayer dollars lost. The A310 pilot at the Portugal Air show broke the international air show rules, I don't know if Portugal is obligated. Flying like this near and over spectators is unprofessional, reckless, unsafe and crazy.
