hey thanks for posting this! we just did cerise creek on foot last week, no snow yet, but fucking goreous!! read a bunch of notes in the log books about how much fun ppl had skiing up there in the winter time and we wondered what that would be like and how hard it would be to get there.... we assumed pretty hard, so it was interesting (and amusing) to see what kind of challenges you guys faced along the way but awesome to see how much the trek would be worth it!
@connicles The first day was really tough because of the incredible amount of fresh powder which was all packed down by the 2nd day. So normally it wouldn't be such a challenge ;). I'm looking forward to doing it again in the summer too!
@jp3556 Just a question.. i've backpacked Elfin Lakes on snowshoes, but in the spring, and I'm only used to traversing snow trails that are really well laid out ie spring/summer where you can clearly see the tracks of where the trail leads. What kind of survival/mountaineering etc experience do you need to safely do a hike like this one in the dead of winter as you did?
@connicles You without question need avalanche safety training (eg. themountainschool[dot]com/avalanche-weekend.html). And of course always check the safety bulletins (avalanche[dot]ca) before going out!
Thanks for fast reply back, I am glad you took it as a positive.

@llew777 You're probably right, we may have gotten luck. The following year we had AWD / 4x4 on all cars to be safer.
