@kylekinetix "get out of the 80's realm" ? would be the same as ignoring 70's Chicago movement and its great artists. Just keep your shit to yourself cuz every fkn amateur u tell me there are two house kings to slap 'em in the face. Geez how old r u 12? Fkn mofo kid.
Track ID on the last song? My two cents, living in NYC, I see these dudes on a regular basis, I thank them for their contribution and for inspiring me to be passionate about the dance, the culture, the music.
Wow... What memories and the comments on this post are spot on... House will never die, you just have to know where to find it... If anyone knows of any spots in Orlando, FL please post....
it's amazing how things evolve over time. when house dancing began back in the late '80s and early '90's, no one incorporated breakdancing moves or even tap dancing into it, at least not as much as see now. nice to see and know that the culture never died, but I couldn't nor ever did moves back in the day like these dudes do. then again, we never had the room, it was always too crowded.
So many people commenting are referring to these guys like they young. If you do some research on the names of people who are affiliated with the house dance project or know how to tell the people who are dancing, you will learn that several of these guys are in their 40s just like those of you commenting. Age is just a number and these guys have been in the scene notably longer than any other dancers that you see videos of. Creators or not, these guys continue to promote it year after year.
I give mad props to these dancers on this video. These dancers are what we considered back in the day as "Loft Down" .Hit the Deck" MoFokers. We wore baggy pants, forget the shirt and either chinese slippers or wrestling boots. Oh and don't forget the baby powder. Who knows what I'm talking about?
No these guys are great but they are not the originators. I know there is much controversy on the subject but the real originators are in their 50's. Like myself. I was a dancer a the Loft and the Paradise Garage way back in the late 70's and 80's. This is where the controversial term "House" is hotly debated. We were dancing this way while most of the nation thought that John Travolta and "Saturday Night Fever" were the ultimate thing in dance.they were late. We were the underground,
@pluggedin2u - This is what i'm trying to tell people: Im' 53, and while so many of these guys were just born or simply youngsters, I (and others like yourself) were kickin it at NYC clubs; Garage, Loft, LaBamba, Leviticus, Pegasus, Starship.... etc. etc. and I'm STILL breakin it down... poppin, lockin, housedancin and breakin.
you cannot imagine how huge the smile on my face was when i was in line to see some house and all the people there were black. i figured i had to be at the wrong place... not about to get schooled in what i erroneously thought was a white genre.
house=sex,passion,memories..heat sweat....soul, emotions ,loose control...true colors, urself,MEMORIES THAT WILL LAST U A LIFETIME...HOUSE 4 EVER ....
I have danced in the best of the best house parties the loft, garage, ozone layer just to name a few. And house music will never die, iam 47 years old and i can still do the dame thing. Because house music dancing is in your bones its in your feet it is a feeling, with grace mixed with tap, jazz, kunf-fu, gymnastic, and any other dance you can name. I was dancing house music in the 80"s it was alot of fun. For you young dudes keep house music fun, feed off of each other energy.

@MissMondayLoves I agree with you 100%! I'm a House dancer from Toronto, Canada, and I live down in LA now. I totally see the difference. Whenever my Toronto fam and I form a circle, we're just sharing, laughing, having fun, enjoying each other's energy. Here in LA, for the most part, these dancers seem to always have something to prove. They're always trying to "battle", and "show everyone who the illest dancer is". It's asinine, and it's not what House is about.
unbelievable....house was the transition from African to B-Boying to Capoeria fusing these elements in with your soul these vibes made you soar when you was in tune with that frequency
i hope this culture remains long enough, deep enough and true enough for me to pass it to my son and daughter...i remember watching these cats get down..i would snatch a step or two then go back to long island and practice it till it evolved within myself..i owe much of myself to the sound, and consider passing it to my kids a must! keep the funk alive.
ahh..ive lived in so many places..and know this for sure..it has nothing to do with where you are from..its where you are at that ultimately counts the most. house heads of the world unite! may the funk be with you.
it wasnt a bite...it was to remind you that long island produces plenty of goodness...and you caught right on. by the way..i use this vid when i make a mix..i play it over these dudes rockin out...if it goes well, then i know i made a fresh one.
this is what a housing circle is all about.. gettin down to the f*ckin music.. nowadays i see a housing circle and these prima donna b-boys and b-girls just try and show each other up, getting in eachothers face and all that wack sh*t... housing circles are about the MUSIC and how you express yourself to the crowd.. NOT about who's the better dancer.. sorry I went on a rant but I'm just about to lose my mind if another kid interrupts what I'm doing and want to battle me.. RESPECT
@mikechorizo Dude, I know EXACTLY what you mean. I'm a house dancer from Toronto, Canada, and I live down in LA now... I see this shit all the time. omg...this is my life waiting to get into the clubs.....Oh yea remember the Wild Pitch parties ....Caleaf ,flex and Henry ,Stretch ,Ejoe yesss lets get a reunion
you know, i wouldn't call these guys THE originators, because if you watch enough documentaries or talk with any of them, they'll admit that they were introduced to house culture by somebody who was around before them. I would say that these people helped put structure to house dance, and to help spread it to locations where it didn't exist before. These are the conduits, the messengers of house.
In any case, tight footage. Thanks for posting it.
yeah, you're right. I've talked to a few of them, and that's pretty much what they said. however, I would say that even though these guys didn't create house dancing (not even mentioning the music), their styles represent most of what we consider house to be at present.
they were some of the first to put things together in a way that we could look at today and recognize as house, in my opinion. not just jacking chicago style, disco, latin or any particular bent one way or another, but a real mixed dance with some of its own original steps too (and a bunch of the dances in this video are original, I would say).
you're right. moves like loose legs (2:08) don't really have analogs in any other styles (like, for instance, farmers coming almost directly from West African), but are unique house developments due to the influence of numerous styles and the work of one or a few dancers, in this case Caleaf. Man, I love this thing we do.
@Lesserevill EJOE IS VERY NICE SHAN S IS THE BEST AND CALEEF JUST KINDA JUMPS AROUND HE'S NOT FLUID ENOUGH BUT SHAN S ALL DAY HE IS THE CAT IN THE RED SHIRT THAT DANCES SILKY SMOOVE
@7thvenom ...It's obvious that you're not a DANCER... Caleef style is sick and for him to be so talk he dances with grace, Shan S style is sick as well but, what you don't take into consideration is that these dude are in their late 30's and early 40's and still competitive on the dance floor. Ejoe's style is crazy sick as well...! Ezra EL I'm one of Jersey's Finest!
@TheFazor1 Sorry Bro but i am a OLD HOUSE-HEAD i'm in my mid 30's as well i been dancing house since 85 been producing house music since 88.... Did not mean to upset u or diss anyone his style is just not to my taste !! One
@7thvenom - Not tryna hate on anybody, because it's all dance, but its a little strange to hear guys classify themselves as "oldschool" when they are 30-40 years old. When you guys were JUST BORN I was hittin the clubs in NYC - Gothams, Ipanema, Roseland, LaBamba, Copacabana, Starship. I'm sorry, but i'm 53 and I still GetIt and rip up a cipher, with House, Hustle, Poppin AND mfkn Lockin.
@avp0713 I can feel u on that, i'm 39 and when i say old school it's when i'm talking to 20 year olds that think they know house music or dance !! And just so u know my first 8 track was jackson 5 destiny !!! nothing but respect for my elders, you went to spots i wish i could have went. peace Fam
@TheFazor1 - Oldschool is truly a relative term. When y'all 30-40 year olds were still babies, me and my crews and homeboys were killin the NYC dance clubs, killin ciphers with House dancing, Hustle, Breakin, Poppin AND mfkin Lockin. I'm not hatin, i'm just trying to lend a little perspective to the discussion. I'm 53 and was hangin in LaBamba, Starship, Bonds, Pegasus, Ipanema, and Roseland... so yeah, Old School goes back like an 8-track
@firstnamenavarre Beautiful stuff! We danced like this 20 years ago! Places like Traxx in DC and the Vault and the Fifth Column and the Paradox and countless other clubs in NYC, Baltimore, DC, Philly. It's nice to see the scene continue on! I probably danced in the same circles with these guys parents! Once a house-head, always a house head!
icy cold you racist fucking gook asians did not star breakdancing or housedancing or anything hip hop you rice eating bastard so go fuck yourself with that go asian shit. You're not better than anybody you asshole!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Lol u think ur all badass but i bet ur a dumbass 15 year old nigga, with a future of a garbage man............So fuk u mother fuker, see u in a few years when u pick up my shit :)
I think you mean go asIAns. Lmao, and what does it matter if people are asian or not? Respect people for who they are. If everyone was stripped of their color of skin or appearance how would you define them then? You wouldn't, you would give praise and respect to those that correlate with your ideals and to those that interest you, but because you see an appearance that isn't similar to yours you outcast the idea without even allowing yourself to explore it? That's called racism, shame on you.
Thats real talk. Reppin the Chi is all the cred you need its in your blood. What I remember the most from my house days was it wasn't necessary to be as talented as these cats but as long as you danced with the same conviction people didn't care. To all the house/techno heads come to the D (Detroit) Memorial Day weekend for the Electronic Music Festival.
Afrika Bambaataa is performing among a host of others. How ya love dat!
These fellas are doin the damn thing but I'd like to give you a little history on this house thing. I'm from Detroit and we were housin it up back in the early eighties and even before that in Chi-town. I'm not a hater though, its great to see you young brothers keep it alive because this is the true form. I mean dancing to dance music, high energy shit.
I can still dance my ass off to it and I'm 40 years old. Peace to the new age househeads great video!
haha, yeah, I'm from chi-town myself actually, and proud to represent as best I can. what I meant was that I thought modern-day house dancing (footwork, lofting, etc.) was born more on the NY scene than in Chicago or Detroit. could be wrong, of course. always proud to claim the music and JACK as Chicago's very own, though!
much respect to all you heads who got this thing started, Chicago, Detroit, NY, NJ, and all the rest! peace!!
@kylekinetix "get out of the 80's realm" ? would be the same as ignoring 70's Chicago movement and its great artists.

Peace to the new age househeads great video!

haha, yeah, I'm from chi-town myself actually, and proud to represent as best I can. what I meant was that I thought modern-day house dancing (footwork, lofting, etc.) was born more on the NY scene than in Chicago or Detroit. could be wrong, of course. always proud to claim the music and JACK as Chicago's very own, though!
much respect to all you heads who got this thing started, Chicago, Detroit, NY, NJ, and all the rest! peace!!
