@xjtyu There's an album entitled "Latin Jazz" (see parisjazzcorner-dot-com) that features both Bobby Hutcherson and Miles, but I don't know if they played together on any of the same tunes or if that's just a compilation album of different tracks from different groups. Probably the latter. Hutcherson sat in with Miles at least once in SF in the 70's; I can't remember if it was at his club on Divisidero or at Keystone Korner on Vallejo, but that was some fine music.
We played this song in high school marching band my freshman year. That was the best marching band year we ever had. Our show was Heat of the Day by Pat Methany, Nature Boy, and Caravan

Recorded at the Van Gelder Studio, Hackensack, New Jersey - 09 JUL 1955. Teddy Charles wrote the chart. BTW, Davis was at the ’55 Newport Jazz Fest on 17 JUL; liner notes on the 12” LP Blue Moods (Debut DEB-120) error in stating that the Davis Newport comeback was b4 this session - also cut ALL ALONE, THERE’S NO YOU, & EASY LIVING.
Drummer Max Roach & Mingus owned Debut Records, releasing all of 26 albums, mostly 10”. Blue Moods itself was orig. on 10”: Vol 1 (DEP 27) & Vol 2 (DEP 28) :I:
Charles Mingus kept his old apt on east 4thstreet hed go there to drink chill and get away from the world I lived above him for a while hed get out of a limo go in the bar come out with a bottle and you knew he was home when the music imedietly started..he had a solid gate over his door for when he was away, Im sure his family didnt know he still had it ?
I love youtube.... came to hear Nat's version... after Casey last night on Idol... then got Bowie, Sinatra, Abbey Lincoln and now Miles?? What a wonderful time we live in... this little tour would have taken a trip to about 10 record stores and a wallet of cash... sweet.... this might be my fav version by the way... ;0)
@quaddawg u need 2 check out the James Brown version, All these versions give something 2 the song, but the James Brown version does it 4 me, what a haunting melody.
Thetopface tells the truth-this isn't technically what is considered "cool". But it does indeed have a cool, laid back feel to it. Beautiful stuff-I had never heard this cut before. Interesting to hear Miles and Mingus together-and perhaps the most unobtrusive Elvin I've heard to date-light touch with brushes.
