@Vr0l1jk it improves the contrast of the monitor when you are in a dark room, due to the "aura" efect it produces. Basicly, when the screen goes black, the backlight makes your eye belive that the actual black on the screen is darker.... erghm... complicated xD but yeah, it works, you can try it
