This song has long been a favorite. I saw the movie a few years after it originally played in the theaters. At the time, I thought that the song fit Barnabas and Josette. I also recall thinking how much pre-vamp Barnabas reminded me of the dreamer, idealist of Pasternak's great novel. It also made me think how wonderful the movie would have been with JF in the title role. Call me weird, but I could easily envision that. Lean's loss, our gain.
Very nice Jane. I do have a comment, NOT a complaint. I wish you could have included one of the moments when Barnabas & Julia were breast to breast gazing in each others eyes, she longingly, he with a slight smirk. -- Of all the love relationships, whether requited or not, I always found theirs the most interesting. Thanks for all your effort, I am a fan.
@badtyper I do have a scene of Barnabas & Julia like that, I've recorded alot of new footage recently. I would like to record some from the parallel time episodes of those two. Some of my favorite scenes of them together are in that storyline. I'm glad you liked the video.
@chatroomchi Thanks for replying Jane. I wish I knew off hand where to find the scenes I described. I thought they would fit perfectly into "Somewhere my Love". I look forward to any postings of the Parallel Time episodes. I would especially love it if the scene where Julia conks Hoffman over the head to save Barnabas was included ~~~~ hmmm ~~ "You've Got A Friend" --lol
I Adore Dr Zhivago too. I've Loved it since I was little, & I have a music box next to the bed that plays this beautiful song. I've got a first edition of the book too, but I just can't get into Russian lit; Everybody is named Ivan & Tonya, & I get confused.
An excellent choice of music. Together with the scenes, it doesn't seem "campy" to me. It seems to imply how happy the characters would be with their loves and without their respective curses.
so beautiful! x

Such a lovely song Jane!!! It is from Dr. Zhivago, I saw at a film festival in NY, and
so perfect for your delightful Dark Shadows video of their angst driven characters!
5 thumbs up!!!

This is one of my favorite songs and one of the first learned to play on my ole "chord organ." The 1960's version of a digital keyboard.

@dollsandmagic I have always loved this song, my Mother used to play it on the piano when I was little.
