I love your stuff, dude. As soon as you mentioned Post-Its I knew we were on the same wavelength. As you say, this is mostly stuff we all know, but it helps to hear it again from another person sometimes. Reinforcement? I suppose. Keep up the great work. You make this stuff FUN! :)
I think your sense of humour is great. Although i am not an Aspie, some people think i am (because they don't understand what it is), and i really relate to your comments. They also helped me. It's true that Asperger's is just a difference and not really a disorder, but it is an inconvenience at times. I think it gives you a great outside eye on how irrational much of human society is, so don't worry if some people think they are looking down on you sometimes.
@Tarquinbeaniebaby Again: by having disabilities that require benefits. Since Asperger's isn't something you can "get" might I suggest breaking your legs to get acces to tax deductable taxi service?
Thank you for posting this video. I was diagnosed with Autisum/Asperger's (the doctors weren't sure what it exactly was. I'm sort of in-between a lot of things) as a toddler and everything you have said is true. It's kind of trying to function a Macintosh computer with the knowledge of a PC. I love being who I am, and I have finally started accepting that I'm this way, but I'm still learning to cope with it. Not many understand how to that are around me. This video spoke to me. Thank you again.
I notice people with Asperger's tend to write the longest comments on Youtube (or other social media) by average.
I think they really try to hit the right 'tone' as to speak. So they will really be as subtle as possible with words, to make sure no one can misinterpret it.
Good vid. There is a danger with too much self-acceptance that one uses the diagnosis as an excuse for one's bad behaviour - witness my younger brother. He gets away with a LOT of stuff that borders on the criminal. But yes, know thyself and be happy.
Thank you so much for this. My 9 year old son was diagnosed last year, and watching this has given me so much hope. You are clever, smart and funny, just like my son. God Bless You! Thank you!!
@InjuredMinds Have what for myself is a curious question and I would value your opinion. English is my native language and I live in a German speaking country. I am less than fluent at this time. Your English is better than my command of the language of my addopted country.
My question is could you have succeeded in obtaining a diagnosis in your country, if you had to completely communicate in English?
I will have no opportunity to go to an English speaking country to be tested.
I made my husband watch this video he felt like you were in his shoes he thought that it was awesome that you can talk about Aspergers and know the right things to say .Great job keep up the good work
i was diagnosed with AS last week and i didn't know how to feel about it ... I was quite sad actually but after watching your video I feel a whole lot better about it. It still sucks to be different but I don't feel anymore that different is like a death sentence...
@Aleksei5055 The diagnosis didn't change you in any way. There's no need to be sad. In fact, if you look around you'll find a multitude of people that have AS who are all impressive, honest and clever. It's nothing more than a name that gives you a group to be in. Getting the diagnosis makes you LESS different. :) Aspies unite! And things
Oh, I love you for this video! Thank you so much! I was recently -tentatively- diagnosed wiht ASperger's. Of course I have it; I've been looking for the extra things that are affecting me for years. at last because of the work I ahve done with myself, through sensation-training my brain, learning to differentiate each individual sensation and mapping them onto opposite sides of my brain, you know, vice versa? If you ask i will give my email.
The "be who you are" tip really struck home with me. I'm currently taking a break from socialisation because I can't find people who accept me for me, instead I have to put on an act to get along with folks and that constant façade is frustrating and exhausting. I wish I could just be myself and get along with people...
@mbncd Please be careful. Time goes by. I had a guy stay with me for two months recently in Europe and I really think he has Asperberger's. His name is Bruce David Thorpe, he does not object to my posting his name or videos of him, and I am Lisa Falour and I have two different YouTube channels. He is very exploitable and is now kind of adrift in the USA and has "gone quiet." He does this often and soon he will be 56 and he is very anxious and suffering.
@susas99 I'm sure his vid wasn't meant as a teacher's aid for aspiring cna's. Trust an aspie- it's something a person with AS would watch when they feel locked out of "The Club" and don't really want to see the world through a "normal person's" viewpoint. If you really are studying psychology, I feel for any future patients of yours, unless some talented teacher somewhere in your future can instill some compassion in you. Psychobabble is a word only a politician would use.
@Onesize17 Bruce David Thorpe responded beautifully to kindness, patience & constant supervision. When he went off on his own to enjoy Paris, he got lost & distracted, but his self-esteem started to build. He is a fast healer & I wish I could reach him, but he is adrift back in the USA & shut off, his only family member blocking him I suspect. Being kindly spoken to, calmed, treated like a grown man who has nice qualities & a sweet disposition, honestly praised when he did well . . .
Unfortunately, geting a diagnosis didn't end my depression. I thought it would, but I guess it's my biology not my thinking. Hobbies in the long term seem to make my depression reoccur. That may be because I might have something like Avoidant Personality Disorder.
I disagree with you about emotions not mattering. And how much control do we really have anyway?
the emotions things is sorta familiar i often dont get stressed over things like tests coz i dont see the point in getting wound up over something i cant change or control and it seems to confuses people how i dont get bothered over things
I have AS, along with Bi Polar and I owe my success in combating these by smoking, yes smoking. I try to point that out to people and they act like I don't know what I am talking about. Everyone with AS needs to unite and fight in what ever way possible San Antonio, Texas new tougher smoking ban passed by the "Harvard Graduate" Mayor Julian Castro. I have been on several meds they only make the condition worse, only cigarettes help. The media hasn't come to grasps with this because...
@willdav713 I feel like the lone ranger in my fight. The Anti's are filled with false lies, myth's and rhetrotic hear-say. Many that spoke at City Council don't even live in San Antonio, they are faces I have seen in Northwest Austin. I am working on a proposed ordinance to put a moriturium on passing any stronger ordinance in neighboring towns. Much help is appreciated.
