In case getting another guinea pig is an issue, don't worry, I'm sure you can make him happy even if he doesn't have a friend. I only have one guinea pig, I've had him for over a year and he's extremely happy - I try to take him out at least 2h a day, most days it's around 4h, and he's got a house and bed and lots of space in his cage to run + veggies and stuff. Just try to spend as much time with him as you can :)

You should really get him a friend. They get really sad and lonely when no one is around to play games with them. I have 2 and both of them are real happy. I suggest buying some chew toys, a inside cage (they are like a mat and then a net around it) and a new guinea pig friend. Make sure to feed them water.
guinea pigs often freeze when they are scared. Did you just get him? I would take him to the vet if this goes on for more than a month. Hope I helped! ;)

The first sign a GP is ill is it stops eating and drinking and retires to a quite location. If this happens to your GP you have only a day or two to get professional help. Once they start losing weight they will die quickly. A friend of mine had a GP that had lost much weight and was cold. It turned out her teeth had cut the inside of her mouth and it had become infected. The vet was worse than useless and made matters worse not better. The GP died, she was dead within a week.

I'm glad your piggy is better!!! Try to pay more attention to it from now one. Make sure you play with it EVERY day, talk to it and pet it. Give it food from your hand - mine loved this, and then pet it on the head. Show it that you love it. Don't get another pig because this one may get jealous and feel even worse. Also, put it in the living room, or somewhere where you gather with your family, or where you like to stay often. The noice will keep it company - just make sure it's not too loud!
@bahuka91 That was good advice but her GP died the next day. It is not easy spreading your time out over all of the animals but when we put ourself out there and take them all on something else has to give and we have to put more into our self to find the time to love and care for them all equally. I just got a GP who is lonely I think for a friend and so I guess I will try to go out this week and find her a sole mate too. Plus I have a cat and a dog and two young children, and I work full time

Usually when they do that, that means they aren't getting enough attention. They can get very lonely that's why it's good to get them a piggy friend to be with when you are out and stuff. My three will talk back and forth.. all night long....
I have read other posts and am glad to see he is okay. I personally just got two guinea pigs and I recommend you do the same. When they have a buddy it is much less frequent that they get depressed.

My recommendation would be to get em a friend! I just had 1 at first named Harper she she was so lonely even though I held her all the time n fed her lots of goodies. They are herd animals and need to be in groups of 2 or more. As much as U think u r enough 4 em you could never take the place of another piggie. I am not trying 2 b mean just frank because I didnt know they had2 b in groups n mine died because she got so lonely! I now have 2 more n they do just fine together. Good luck!
Make sure your not confusing the noises with happy noises as they do make happy noises when you hold them and squeak a lot. Try moving around the furniture in the cage.Give them plenty of fruit and veg. They chew a lot, hay is good. They can live alone but normally in groups but if used to being on their own they are best kept that way. Make sure you handle them everyday and try an enclosed pen outside in warmer weather. I take mine out on a lead to walk around the garden sometimes.

He's probably just very lonely. They're companion pets and are happiest amongst others. They either need a lot of attention from you or a new friend in their cage for them to play with.

Guinea Pigs are social animals and need to have another pig around to feel comfortable. If a pig is alone, it will get depressed and stressed. You really need to get another pig for it

maybe you should get him a friend. my friend had the same problem her guinea pig was always sad so i told her get another guinea pig and then she did so now the guinea pig is so happy with his new friend so i think u should give it a try too.

I'm glad your piggy is better!!! Try to pay more attention to it from now one. Make sure you play with it EVERY day, talk to it and pet it. Give it food from your hand - mine loved this, and then pet it on the head. Show it that you love it. Don't get another pig because this one may get jealous and feel even worse. Also, put it in the living room, or somewhere where you gather with your family, or where you like to stay often. The noice will keep it company - just make sure it's not too loud!

@bahuka91 That was good advice but her GP died the next day. It is not easy spreading your time out over all of the animals but when we put ourself out there and take them all on something else has to give and we have to put more into our self to find the time to love and care for them all equally. I just got a GP who is lonely I think for a friend and so I guess I will try to go out this week and find her a sole mate too. Plus I have a cat and a dog and two young children, and I work full time

@nsemore1 I'm really sorry to hear that her guinea pig died :( I hope everything will be OK.
It must be hard for you with a full time job, 2 children, and pets. I had to spend a lot of my time just for 1 guinea pig, so I understand how difficult it could be for you. It wouldn't be bad to get another guinea pig, so your can have a friend, but please make sure there is no jealousy.

i dont think hes sick.. do you have any other guinea pigs? if you dont then thats the reason hes like this. apparently guinea pigs live in herds so hes sad becuase he doesnt have a friend to play or chat with. i recommend getting another guinea pig for yours :)

Usually when they do that, that means they aren't getting enough attention. They can get very lonely that's why it's good to get them a piggy friend to be with when you are out and stuff. My three will talk back and forth.. all night long....

I have read other posts and am glad to see he is okay. I personally just got two guinea pigs and I recommend you do the same. When they have a buddy it is much less frequent that they get depressed.

He lives alone right,...? If so, buy a small mirror (for a bird cage for example, you can buy them at the pet store) and put it where he sleeps or whatever. That will hopefully do some good :) Hope he is doing well =3

My recommendation would be to get em a friend! I just had 1 at first named Harper she she was so lonely even though I held her all the time n fed her lots of goodies. They are herd animals and need to be in groups of 2 or more. As much as U think u r enough 4 em you could never take the place of another piggie. I am not trying 2 b mean just frank because I didnt know they had2 b in groups n mine died because she got so lonely! I now have 2 more n they do just fine together. Good luck!

Make sure your not confusing the noises with happy noises as they do make happy noises when you hold them and squeak a lot. Try moving around the furniture in the cage.Give them plenty of fruit and veg. They chew a lot, hay is good. They can live alone but normally in groups but if used to being on their own they are best kept that way. Make sure you handle them everyday and try an enclosed pen outside in warmer weather. I take mine out on a lead to walk around the garden sometimes.
