Man, if you couldn't get any good crunch out of a Carvin SX amp then you either had a faulty one, or something else was seriously wrong within the signal chain of your rig, cause these things have tons of crunch. If you search the vids here on youtube you will hear what I am saying as well. In fact they have Crunch up the wahzoo!
Carvin can't be beat for price! Good demo, send more please. I don't own any Carvin S/State amps but have owned every Carvin tube amp at one time or another. Currently I have--V3 head--Legacy Combo-Nomad combo with matching cab---2-Carvin X60 combo's which I'll never sell [my mainstay for 25 years], and a rare Carvin XT112 combo [50 watt]. All are just great amps! Maybe I'll try an SX series some day. the only S/S I have now is Marshall AVT275 and 150 combos..Good amps!
Good demo, sounds great. I have the sx100 that i use as a speaker cab for my laney head. My carvin broke, got repaired and broke again about 5 weeks later, so didnt bother getting it fixed again as it will prob break again. It is something in the mosfets (i am very delicate with my music gear as well)They are great sounding and very loud amps though, i just got a lemon. I have a Marshall DSL100 head and Carvin quad now though :)
Hey, thanks for the reply. Damn those text counts. I'm thinking of getting a carvin next time. I'm moving into a apartment and looking something that's smaller and sounds good for school as well. I wish I live near a carvin store. Anyway, time to sell my peavey and give carvin a call! Thanks again.
I would imagine the SX100 handles really, I mean my amp can withstand rain and big drops, and definitely it can handle a jazz band small bar setting, I'm in my jazz band at school and like with the rain and stuff I can take it to and from school without worries, and I've played with bands during school and you can hear me on the whole campus when im at a volume of 10 (which is way to loud for a jazz band, where I'm stuck on playing at like 4/5volume but yea)... I ran out of comment space........
I have 2 Carvin SX100's (pretty much same as SX50) and they're great. They cover full spectrum from Clean Jazz, surf, rock & metal. Yours sounds very pro and has wonderful tone. I'm convinced that the only way you can destroy one of those amps is to douse it with gasoline (which would be far too expensive these days) and set it on fire. OTher than that, they just keep on playing. Nice Playing Buddy.

I'm sold. How does the SX100 handle? Can it handle a small bar setting or a college jazz band?
Thanks.

Nice work, Connor. I'm not a fan of Carvin equipment, but when YOU play through it, I LOVE IT ! ! ! :-) xox, Vespertinne
