@jgrodnik Probably being the 1 out of 189 with a "dislike", clearly he represents nothing but his little self. People gotta learn to relax some before locking-in their little judgements.
@MrBrianojee Dude Itzhak Perlman really is a very humble man.. he has a great skill and all the musicians playing with him in this piece know that far better than you do, MrBrianojee. Perlman gives each and everyone of them an intro, and a warm up of the crowd- what more can be asked for?
j'ai les disques de Modern jazz quartet et Gershwin est un merveilleux passage de leur notoriété...Les radios devraient passer plus souvent de telles musiques et nos jeunes gens seraient plus instruits sur notre passé...
@beaverteeth92 Don't know about the frame, but the distinctive sound comes from the fact that Milt Jackson preferred to set the vibraphone's oscillator to a low 3.3 revolutions per second (as opposed to Lionel Hampton's speed of 10 revolutions per second) for a more subtle vibrato. The sound really worked.
This is about 2 clicks above magnificent, whatever that is... Seeing/hearing where these musical styles perfectly converge is about as good as it gets. Thanks.
It's good to know that classical musicians occasionally have this urge to try their hands at jazz. Good try Itzhak, it just needs to swing a bit more.
LOL. not an offensive term. Shtetl would be Yiddish slang for the Jewish ghetto. For more information of Shtetls (joking) and over 600 jazz videos, check out our site.
Ithzhak is just great but the definitive version of this number by MJQ is on their Porgy and Bess album with Milt Jackson playing most of what Itzhak plays--absolutely hypnotically.
