It was actually Bill Clinton who passed NAFTA and repealed glass-steagall (along with Lawrence Summers), which lead directly to the financial meltdown. If these shells were sitting in Phoenix, Arizona during the 1990's, people would have fallen all over themselves to buy them and completely rebuild them. I would rather see home renovation loans being given out, than bulldozing. Keeps the property maintained and even improved. Maybe things would get better in time, so that loans don't go bad before that. And it helps the community with funds influx. But the money goes to the rich, not the needy. If that continues the nation is as doomed as this looks. (burnouts and collapseds exist all over. fence them off. they eventually get replaced).

nicely done. But much of this housing was considered temporary for factories workers flooding in from the entire world. Many had daily delivered water and outhouses for there was no utilities in 41 neighborhoods. which is classified as 4 blks to as large as 80. Shocking. and they often had crummy retrofitted baths, yuk! Many didn't wait til the 1974 Federal Fair Housing Law or Mayor Young to blame, they moved to Dearborn as soon as they could in the '50s.

This is not temporary housing, these are neighborhoods that my parents and my wifes parents and many people we know grew up in. These are places where people lived and raised families for generations. Some of the houses in these neighborhoods were built by my grandfather and by my wifes grandfather.

These are real neighborhoods, and real houses.
