  • i always hated the screamers, male or female. But if you fence with a with someone and they scream in your ear, it ought to be a read card foul. Traditional coachs abhor the celebratory screaming. You're supposed to be gracious in victory, not act like a spoiled brat.

  • Wow! Talk about screaming like a little girl.

  • *whispers* parry.........

  • Do some combat sports with some added pressure for good measure and you'll understand. : )

  • They scream because it helps to relieve the tension and aggression. It's like the yelling in Karate or Tae Kwon Do.

  • why the screaming? why?

  • @doktathunda Every action you make gives you a lot of pressure, and you think alot of what to do/when to do it/how to do it, etc.. before you actually hit your opponent, so once you hit... It's like a huge satisfaction and you relief the pressure by screaming.

I don't know if you've done fencing but.. try it.. the scream come sout almost spontaneously.

  • @Blad0506 I fencing for over a couple decades. Screaming is self indulgence and compounds when unchecked. It felt great to me to win and just stay calm, taking it in. And it made people worry. A screaming prima donna is never well liked.

  • @deaddoc The classy thing is to take off your mask and salute your opponent. People used to do that. When I did it,it felt great. When someone did it to me, when I lost, I appreciated the respect. It's about class and respect in the end, and much of this has left the sport of fencing.
